Gold Prices In India Fall For Second Day: Check 22kt, 24kt Rates In Your City On June 18, 2025

Last Updated: Gold Rates In India Today: In Mumbai, the price of gold stood at Rs 92,500 per 10 grams for 22-carat and Rs 1,00,910 per 10 grams for 24-carat. Gold Prices In India Today, June 18: Gold prices on Wednesday extended their loss for the second day on profit-booking. In Mumbai, the price of gold stood at Rs 92,500 per 10 grams for 22-carat and Rs 1,00,910 per 10 grams for 24-carat. Silver, on the other hand, was also trading higher at Rs 1,11,000 per kg in the city. These spot prices do not include making charges and 3% GST. In the futures market, gold was trading lower by 0.13% at Rs 99,410 per 10 grams, whereas silver was higher by 0.40% to trade at 1,09,433 per kg. Rahul Kalantri, vice-president (commodities) of Mehta Equities, said, 'Gold and silver prices ended mixed on Tuesday amid high price fluctuations in the international markets. While geopolitical tensions, particularly the escalation in the Israel-Iran conflict, triggered safe-haven demand, disappointing U.S. retail sales and a slowdown in Chinese gold buying in May month restricted gains." While gold extended its fall for the second day, silver prices extended gains and crossed $37 per troy ounce levels for the first time since February 2012. Weakness in the rupee is supporting gold and silver prices in the domestic markets, he added. Gold and silver prices rallied sharply amid escalating Israel-Iran tensions, boosting safe-haven demand. The ongoing Iran-Israel conflict is expected to push gold prices higher in India as investors flock to safe-haven assets amid rising geopolitical tensions. Global uncertainty often boosts demand for gold, which is considered a store of value during crises. With oil prices also likely to rise due to instability in the Middle East, inflationary concerns may further support a bullish trend in gold. Additionally, a weakening rupee against the US dollar could make imported gold costlier, driving domestic prices even higher in the short term. What Factors Affect Gold Prices In India? International market rates, import duties, taxes, and fluctuations in exchange rates primarily influence gold prices in India. Together, these factors determine the daily gold rates across the country. In India, gold is deeply cultural and financial. It is a preferred investment option and is key to celebrations, particularly weddings and festivals. With constantly changing market conditions, investors and traders monitor fluctuations closely. Staying updated is crucial for effectively navigating dynamic trends.

Hindustan Zinc Shares Tank 7% As Vedanta Offloads 1.71% Stake Worth Rs 3,323 Crore

Last Updated: Hindustan Zinc Block Deal: Shares of Hindustan Zinc slumped 7% to Rs 452.50 in morning trade on June 18 Hindustan Zinc Hindustan Zinc Block Deal: Shares of Hindustan Zinc slumped 7% to Rs 452.50 in morning trade on June 18 after its parent company, Vedanta, offloaded a 1.71% stake — amounting to 7.2 crore shares — via block deals. The estimated deal size stands at Rs 3,323 crore. The floor price for the transaction was set at Rs 460.5 per share, representing a discount of over 5% from Hindustan Zinc's previous close of Rs 485.95 on the NSE. According to BSE data, Vedanta held a 63.42% stake in Hindustan Zinc as of December 31, 2024. The block deal was facilitated by DAM Capital Advisors and Citi. Vedanta's stake sale comes amid broader fundraising efforts and strategic realignments. Adding to the pressure, Hindustan Zinc shares extended their losing streak for the sixth consecutive session. The stock had already declined over 5% on Tuesday and has shed more than 9% over the last week — even as the company announced a significant Rs 12,000 crore expansion plan aimed at boosting capacity and meeting future demand. In its Q4 FY25 earnings report, Hindustan Zinc reported a 4.3% year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 2,583 crore, compared to Rs 2,700 crore in Q4 FY24. Revenue from operations came in at Rs 8,820 crore, slightly lower than Rs 8,863 crore a year ago. The decline was attributed to lower metal prices and higher input costs, though partially offset by increased volumes. The company reaffirmed its focus on long-term capacity expansion, including its upcoming 250 ktpa smelter in Debari and expanded mining infrastructure across Rajasthan — projects expected to be completed within 36 months.
