'Nowhere near good enough'

Scotland captain Andy Robertson tells BBC Scotland: "I think we all know that's nowhere near good enough."I don't want to say too much, we need to digest this and speak in the changing room before we start doing interviews."I think we were too easily played through, any chance they had they scored. We weren't good enough on the ball, created chances but didn't take them. Nowhere near good enough."Getting beat 3-1 at home by a team that, no disrespect, you should beat but they've been better than us. I imagine they've had more possession, I'd imagine more chances, they've got more goals and that's all that matters."I don't think you can put a finger on one thing but we need to get it right pretty quickly."

A Hibs star's lengths he went to in order to make a Easter Road move reality have been revealed - as he comes with an unrivalled skill. Raphael Sallinger has signed a three year deal to join the Premiership side after time in Austria with TSV Hartberg. He was a regular for the Austrian Bundesliga side and it will be his first venture outside of the country since time at 1. FC Kaiserslautern in Germany, bolstering the goalkeeping department that also has Jordan Smith within it. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad TSV Chairman and Managing Director Erich Korherr has claimed that Sallinger put in a transfer request to make the Hibs move happen. There are no hard feelings, however, as he piled praise on David Gray's new keeper. He's also been labelled with an icy nickname. Why Hibs recruit made move to Easter Road A club statement reads: 'TSV regular goalkeeper Raphael Sallinger is moving abroad for the new season and joining Scottish Premier League club Hibernian FC . The capital club from Edinburgh finished third in the championship round of the Scottish Premiership in the 2024/2025 season behind Celtic Glasgow and Glasgow Rangers. 'Sallinger has been with TSV since their promotion to the Bundesliga in 2018. Initially, the now 29-year-old was the backup goalkeeper behind Rene Swete. However, the Klagenfurt native showed patience and has been the undisputed number one in the TSV goal for the past two and a half years. He played 106 games for the blue and white team, keeping 31 clean sheets. Raphael Sallinger was the team's calming influence, the "Iceman," a key player both on the pitch and in the locker room.' Korherr said: 'Salli approached us with a request to transfer. He was a key player and key player until the very end, and played a major role in our success. His strength with his feet and in passing is unparalleled in Austria. He also repeatedly saved points with his many brilliant saves and strong reactions on the line. The move abroad is the next step. We also warmly congratulate Raphael and wish him a call-up to the red-white-red national team one day. The search for an adequate replacement is in full swing; the requirements profile is clear." Sallinger said in a parting message to Hartberg: "I know that this decision will mark the end of a very special chapter in my career. A time in which I truly learned a lot, met special people, and experienced special moments. I was there for seven years and am proud that I was able to play a key role, especially in the last two and a half years as No. 1. 'Those were certainly the club's two most successful years, with the points record and championship playoff last year and the cup final this year. Now I'm looking forward to my new challenge at Hibernian. I will always keep TSV and all those who have accompanied me close to my heart and wish everyone involved only the best!"

Hibs international round up as star's focus turns to Easter Road future after major tournament snub

There was international disappointment for one Hibs star as some of his Easter Road team-mates moved closer to a place at the World Cup finals. Hibs winger Junior Hoilett has been left out of the Canada squad for a major tournament this summer - as attentions turn to his future. Hoilett's name was absent from the 26-man squad that will represent Canada at the Concacaf Gold Cup this summer as they prepare to face Honduras, El Salvador and Curacao in the group stage of the competition. The Hibs star has earned 65 caps at senior level - although missed out on last summer's Copa America with a hamstring injury and has made just two appearances for Jesse Marsch's over the last year. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad His omission will allow Hoilett to focus on his future at Easter Road as his current contract is now coming to a close. The veteran winger and defender Rocky Bushiri remain in talks over a possible new deal. Although news is awaited on Hoilett's future, the winger has already signalled his desire to force his way into the Canada squad for next summer's World Cup Finals as they co-host the tournament with the United States and Mexico. Junior Hoilett on Canada future Speaking in March, he told the Evening News: 'Of course, that's every footballer's target, to play a World Cup for your country and represent your country, especially when it's on home soil. It's something not everybody has a chance to do, so it's a massive target for me as well. That is something I'm keeping one eye on. Of course, it makes things better (being in Europe). Of course, that would be a bonus as well. 'Like I said, I haven't played European football, so that would be a good achievement for me if it comes to it. Right now, I'm just focusing on getting to the end of the season. It's amazing. It's a monumental moment, special to finish third. From where we started off in the season, to turn it around and to reach our goal to clinch European football. Hibs stars close on World Cup finals place There was late drama for Hibs duo Lewis Miller and Martin Boyle as they moved to within touching distance of helping Australia reach a sixth consecutive World Cup finals. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Miller and Boyle were handed starts as the Socceroos aimed to claim a win against Japan that they knew would all but guarantee their place at next summer's tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Both players had left the pitch by the time Aziz Behich grabbed the only goal of the game in second-half injury-time to help his side claim a first win over Japan in 16 years and ensure the only thing standing in Australia's way now would be a freak result against Saudi Arabia. Jack Iredale has also been in the Socceroos squad. Your next Hibs read: Latest Hibs signing sets two lofty Easter Road targets as he details thinking behind Premiership switch
