Gang war detectives recover firearm in Roseburn Path area
Officers carrying out enquiries into recent violent incidents in the East and West of the country have recovered a firearm in the Roseburn Path area of Edinburgh.
The path had been cordoned off between the footbridge at Roseburn Terrace up to Ravelston Dykes since the evening of Thursday 5 June.
Officers would not divulge the reason for the closure of the popular path other than to say that it was due to an 'ongoing incident'.
Today Wednesday, 11 June, detectives revealed that a weapon had been found around 11am this morning as part of Operation Portaledge.

Detective Chief Superintendent David Ferry, Specialist Crime Division, said: 'A number of weapons have now been recovered as part of this operation.
'I hope this latest find helps to reassure the community of our continued resolve to target organised crime.
'Extensive enquiries are ongoing and I urge anyone who knows something that could assist with our investigation to please contact to us.
'Anyone with information relating to these incidents should speak to Police Scotland on 101 or make a call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.'

Officers then made the shocking find on Saturday afternoon. A spokesman for Police Scotland said yesterday there were no suspicious circumstances. The couple are thought to have lived together in a cottage in the village of Longridge, West Lothian. Adele's shattered mother Anne posted a picture of the pair on Facebook. She wrote online: 'I am devastated to be writing this — my eldest daughter Adele and her partner Craig have sadly passed away. 'The family are heartbroken at this time. 'You are my firstborn, the one who made me a mum. "I'm in pieces, another part of my heart is in heaven.' One pal posted photos of her on country walks with Adele. Investigation into 'large-scale' cannabis farm with £640,000 worth of drugs
Police have launched an investigation after a 'large-scale' cannabis farm containing drugs worth £640,000 was discovered in Alloa. Officers say around 5.30pm on Tuesday, a warrant was executed at a premises on Church Street where a large-scale cannabis cultivation was discovered. Drugs worth approximately £640,000 were found within and enquiries are ongoing. Detective Inspector John Currie said: 'This recovery means a significant quantity of drugs will not end up on our streets. 'Drugs cause misery in our communities, and we are determined to disrupt the supply of illegal substances and trace those involved. 'This recovery underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country's Serious Organised Crime Strategy. 'In addition to the contributing to the illegal trade of drugs, these cultivations pose a serious fire risk and anyone with suspicions that a premises is being used as a cultivation is urged to contact us. 'Information from the public is absolutely crucial to our work and we urge anyone with knowledge or concerns about drugs activity in their area to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.'
