DANCING and gaming are among the top skills Gen-Z are picking up from social media.
A poll of 500 teens aged 13-17 and their parents found budgeting and meditation also made the list of new skills they've picked up.

A poll commissioned by TikTok found the top 30 skills teens are learning on social media

While core life skills such as cooking (66 per cent) and cleaning (62 per cent) are still being passed down from parents, 35 per cent of teens say they're more likely to turn to social media for quick tips and tutorials.
It found almost three-quarters (72 per cent) agree social media is a good place for learning new skills, and 10 per cent have used platforms to try out techniques like mindfulness.
A further 35 per cent would be willing to try meditation or mindfulness (33 per cent) to relax.
The research was commissioned by TikTok, which is rolling out a guided meditation experience to prompt users to wind down for the night with calming music and breathing techniques.

Val Richey, global head of outreach and partnerships - trust and safety, at TikTok, said: 'There's never been more opportunity for young people to discover, learn, and share their creativity.
'But the ability to step back and slow down is just as important.
'More and more, we're seeing teens taking an interest in finding the right balance for them, and we want to help support those decisions.'
The research found two-thirds (66 per cent) said it's important to know when to switch off, while 50 per cent agree that trying a new skill improves creativity and builds confidence (49 per cent).
And 35 per cent said it makes people feel happier.
At the same time, 25 per cent of parents are impressed by their child learning new skills through social media.
More than half (58 per cent) say they start exploring a topic simply after coming across it while scrolling.
And 91 per cent are likely to use social media as a place to learn new skills in the future.
TikTok is also expanding its Mental Health Media Education Fund by donating over £1.7 million in ad credits to over 30 mental health organisations around the world.
Val Richey added: 'Whether it's learning a new skill or connecting around shared interests, young people are using platforms in creative new ways.
'Creating space for that kind of growth - online and offline - is something we're proud to support.'

'I put a little napkin or paper towel, damp, just on the end,' she explained. She claimed that just under a whopping two months later, she has to peel off the outer layer of the lettuce but insisted that everything under that is perfectly fine to eat. 'This is a perfect head of lettuce after two months,' she said triumphantly, adding in a comment that she checks the paper towel and re-dampens it when she needs to. Users loved the money and food saving hack, sharing their thoughts in the comment section. 'This is so smart oh my god, I live alone and can never finish it before it goes bad. I needed this video holy cow,' one user gushed. 'I do the same thing! GAME CHANGER! It's crazy but so simple. Treat the plants in your fridge as plants, they want to be watered,' agreed someone else. Another joked: 'That same lettuce goes bad in four days in my fridge.' It's not the first time a food professional has shared their tricks to preserving food. Users loved the money and food saving trick, sharing their thoughts in the comment section Massachusetts-based Alison Mountford said food is the 'biggest expense' as restauranteur so would make sure it was all used up Alison's top tip was to meal plan and use up the food you already have in your cupboard before buying more. She encouraged people to not immediately throw away brown food as peeling back oxidized vegetables such as cabbage and brussels sprouts can reveal a perfectly usable vegetable. '[Meal plan to] reduce what goes in your house in the first place. So many people have a habit of blindly picking stuff up,' she explained. 'Even just jotting down a general idea, you'll end up purchasing less.' Alison also encouraged families to freeze food they are not going to use before it goes off – such as saving a whole banana.

IF you're searching for the perfect summer dress that you can just chuck on and feel instantly stylish, you'll want to leg it to Tesco. The supermarket's in-house fashion label, F&F, is renowned for its stylish buys at affordable prices. 4 4 4 4 And fashion fans have insisted the new strapless midi dress is a must-have for the warmer summer months. And the best part? You'll get change from a £20 note. The £19.50 frock boasts a ribbed, fitted bandeau top and flowy skirt with pockets. It can easily be dressed down with flip flops or Birkenstock sandals, or paired with heels for a fancier look. These days, as you head in to do your weekly food shop you can also pick up a selection of purse-friendly, stylish pieces for all the family. Tesco has just announced a 0.7 per cent increase in the quarter thanks to a 'strong growth in clothing' and M&S has earnt the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street. Describing it online, the Sainsbury's team say: "Perfect for summer occasions, our yellow tea dress has been designed with puff sleeves, an elasticated waist with shirred detailing, finished with a tie fastening at the neckline for a touch of elegance. "Cut to a flattering, midaxi length. Wear with suede sandals and golden accessories." The dress is already sold out online so you'll need to be quick to get your hands on it in store. If you're self-conscious about a mum tum or your upper arms, delighted fashion fans say this is definitely one for you. One said: "Absolutely beautiful dress... even prettier in person. It's a lovely light fabric to wear in summer and feels very flattering on my plus size body. "The pockets are an added bonus! Very pleased with this purchase." A second wrote: "Bought this because I was drawn to the colour for the summer. "Love the length of the skirt and the fit at the waist - really flattering!"
