Fatwa By International Union Of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), Based In And Funded By Qatar, Declares 'Armed Jihad' Against Israel Obligatory For All Muslims, Calls To Urgently Form 'Islamic Military Alliance' Against Israel
On March 31, 2025, the Ijtihad [Independent Jurisprudential Reasoning] and Fatwa Committee of the Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), headquartered in Qatar, issued a brief ten-point fatwa about "the continuation of aggression on Gaza and violation of the ceasefire" by Israel, calling for all Muslims and Muslim countries to wage jihad against Israel. [1]
IUMS was founded in 2004 by Egyptian-born Sheikh Yousuf Al-Qaradawi, an important Muslim Brotherhood (MB) ideologue who lived in Qatar and was sponsored by its regime until 2018, when Ahmad Al-Raissouni took over leadership of IUMS. As documented in multiple MEMRI reports over the years, IUMS serves as a vital arm of the Qatari regime, which it uses to spread extremist anti-Western ideology, including incitement to jihad and terrorism, in keeping with the decades-long support Qatar has provided to various terrorist groups worldwide. IUMS clerics, including the group's current head Ali Al-Qaradaghi, are known for disseminating extremist Islamic discourse, supporting terrorist organizations, justifying terrorism and jihad against Israel and the West, and promulgating antisemitic and homophobic rhetoric. [2]
The fatwa states that "it is obligatory for every capable Muslim in the Islamic world to wage armed jihad against the occupation in Palestine," that Arab and Islamic states must immediately intervene militarily, and that "the Zionist enemy" must be "besieged at land, on sea, and in the air," by closing waterways and airspace in Arab and Islamic states. It further calls to "supply the resistance militarily, financially, and legally." Announcing it obligatory to urgently form an "Islamic military alliance to protect the ummah and repel the aggressors," the fatwa declares normalizing relations with the "Zionist enemy" forbidden by shari'a, forbids providing Israel with petroleum or natural gas, and calls to reconsider the peace agreements which some Arab states have signed with the "occupying entity." Also obligatory is to practice "financial jihad to support our brothers in Gaza" and to open crossings into Gaza. It urges members of the Muslim diaspora in the U.S. to pressure President Donald Trump to "fulfil his campaign promises of stopping the aggression and bringing peace."
In October 2023, Muntada Al-'Ulama' [The Islamic Scholars' Forum], an international body of Islamist and Salafi clerics, issued a fatwa declaring jihad against Israel to be obligatory for all Muslims and expressing support for Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups involved in fighting the Jewish state. The first signatory was Mauritanian-born IUMS member Sheikh Muhammad Al-Hasan Ould Diddo. [3]
A IUMS delegation met with Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa in Damascus on March 12. [4]

Dr. Sherif Gindy, CAIR-Linked Imam in Michigan Friday Sermon: Jihad Is Due; Mosques in India Destroyed, Mosques in Europe Shut Down, and Women All Over the World Are Asked to Remove the Hijab because
In his May 23, 2025 Friday sermon at the Islamic Organization of North America (IONA) in Michigan, Dr. Sherif Gindy discussed the importance of Jihad. He said the reason mosques were destroyed in India, closed in the European Union, and Muslim girls were asked to remove their hijabs worldwide is because Jihad was 'ceased.' He explained that Jihad means defending Islam with force, power, and strength, as well as through non-violent means. He then quoted a verse from the Quran in which the Jews told Moses they would not enter the Holy Land until the 'ferocious people' left it. Gindy asked what would make these 'ferocious people' leave Jerusalem, saying it would not be 'negotiations, treaties, the Camp David Accords,' bur rather, he stated: 'They will not go out, except by force.' It is worth noting that Sherif Gindy (also spelled Sharif Gindy), who immigrated to the United States from Egypt, was listed as a board member of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Michigan chapter as of December 2023.

Iran rejects US nuclear proposal over sanctions relief lack
Shafaq News/ On Sunday, Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf dismissed the latest US proposal in indirect nuclear talks, criticizing it for excluding any reference to lifting sanctions. Speaking ahead of a public parliament session, Ghalibaf reaffirmed Iran's readiness to demonstrate the peaceful nature of its nuclear program, while emphasizing that this remains contingent on genuine sanctions relief and tangible economic benefits. According to Ghalibaf, the US continues to press for restrictions on Iran's enrichment program while offering only vague commitments lacking legal or practical clarity. 'They smile in front of the cameras and talk of economic relief, but in reality, not only do they avoid lifting sanctions, they don't even promise to. It is clear that no rational logic would accept such a unilateral and imposed agreement,' he explained. Turning to US President Donald Trump, Ghalibaf called for a change in approach. 'If Trump truly seeks a deal, he must abandon his coordination with the Zionist regime and [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu's failed policies.' Indirect nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington, facilitated by Omani mediators, resumed on April 12 and have completed five rounds. Discussions have focused on the scope of uranium enrichment and the sequencing of sanctions relief, though significant gaps remain. Last week, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi posted on X that Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al Busaidi had delivered the components of the US proposal to Tehran during a brief visit. 'Iran will respond appropriately based on principles, national interests, and the rights of the Iranian people to the proposal,' his post read.

Afghan PM urges exiles to return following Trump travel ban
Shafaq News/ Afghanistan's government called on nationals abroad to return home, promising safety even for those who worked with US forces, according to a speech aired Saturday. US President Donald Trump had signed an executive order earlier banning travel from 12 countries, including Afghanistan, citing the lack of competent authorities to process passports and conduct security vetting. In response, Prime Minister Hassan Akhund addressed the nation during Eid al-Adha celebrations, assuring returnees of protection under a general amnesty declared by Taliban Supreme Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada. 'Even if you served the Americans for decades… you will not face abuse or trouble,' Akhund said in a speech broadcast on state media. The call for return comes amid continued reports by the United Nations of extrajudicial killings and abuses, despite the Taliban's 2021 pledge of amnesty for former government and military personnel. The Taliban administration has imposed Islamic law since taking power in 2021, drawing condemnation for bans on women's education and employment that the UN has described as 'gender apartheid.' Afghan migration routes have also narrowed sharply under Trump's renewed presidency. The United States closed its embassy in Kabul in 2021, and Afghans must now seek visas in third countries—primarily Pakistan, which has stepped up expulsions of undocumented Afghans.
