South Florida firefighter arrested on child pornography charges, officials say
A 51-year-old Boca Raton firefighter, who is a Miami-Dade resident, is facing charges of possessing child sexual abuse material, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office.
Alejandro Fernandez Callegari was arrested Thursday in Miami-Dade County.
Cyber tip leads to investigation
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a cyber tip reporting a user uploading multiple files containing child sexual abuse material, deputies said.
Legal processes confirmed Fernandez as the owner and user of the reported account, authorities said.
Details of charges
Authorities said Fernandez uploaded explicit images of children, according to the arrest report.
On June 19, 2025, detectives responded to Fernandez's address, where he invoked his right to counsel and was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Facility without incident, authorities said.
Boca Raton responds
The City of Boca Raton placed Fernandez on administrative leave following his arrest, according to a statement from the Boca Raton Fire Department.
The city stated that the allegations do not reflect its values or standards and declined further comment due to the active criminal investigation.

Armed robbery suspect posed as customer before robbing Miami business, police say
A man armed with a knife robbed a travel agency in Miami Monday morning after posing as a customer and threatening an employee, according to Miami police. Victim handed over cash, jewelry The robbery occurred shortly before 11 a.m. in the 5900 block of SW 8th Street, Miami Police Robbery Detectives said. The victim, an employee opening the business for the day, told police she noticed a man waiting outside the front entrance and believed he was a potential client. After unlocking the door and letting the man inside, he reportedly asked questions before producing a silver knife and pressing it against the victim, demanding money. The employee gave the suspect $30, the only cash on hand and then offered $200 from her own purse when he became agitated. Before fleeing eastbound on SW 8th Street, the suspect also demanded and took the woman's gold bracelet, which she said was worth approximately $5,000. Suspect sought by robbery detectives Police described the suspect as a man, approximately 65 to 68 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a medium build and clean-shaven face. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and light blue jeans and was reported to have spoken with an accent. Robbery detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying and locating the suspect. Man flees Minneapolis courthouse after being sentenced in ammo theft case, officials say
A 35-year-old man found guilty of theft and being a felon in possession of a gun is on the run after fleeing a sentencing at the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis. According to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, a judge sentenced Jarel Valdez Martin to five years in prison on his charges on Tuesday morning. That's when a woman with Martin handed him his phone, despite being told not to. When deputies asked for his phone, a "physical altercation ensued," and Martin was able to break free and flee out of the courtroom, officials said. Authorities provided a photo of Martin running down the stairs at the courthouse without a shirt or shoes. Martin is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall with black hair. Martin was sentenced after being convicted of stealing ammunition and a firearms magazine from a Mills Fleet Farm in Brooklyn Park last October. He has a prior conviction for first-degree aggravated robbery and federal felony convictions for being a felon in possession of a firearm and unlawful transport of firearms, both in 2011.
