Turning Terrorism Into Statecraft...: India Rebuffs OIC, Calls Out Pakistan For Baseless Allegation
The Ministry of External Affairs has rejected the "unwarranted and factually incorrect" references to India at the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers' Meeting. Slamming Islamabad, the MEA issued a statement and stated that the OIC's 'repeated failure' to acknowledge the threat of terrorism emanating from Pakistan, most recently evidenced by the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, 'reflects a wilful disregard for facts and the global consensus on the fight against terrorism.'
It also emphasised, "Statements, driven by Pakistan, which has turned terrorism into statecraft, reflect the continued misuse of the OIC platform for narrow political ends."
OIC's J-K Remarks
'The OIC has no locus standi to comment on India's internal affairs, including Jammu & Kashmir, which is an integral and sovereign part of India — a fact enshrined in the Indian Constitution and irreversibly settled,' MEA added.
'The OIC should reflect deeply on the perils of allowing Pakistan's propaganda to hijack and politicize its agenda. Any other course can only undermine the OIC's credibility and relevance.
The comments made by Pakistan at the OIC meeting are nothing more than a desperate attempt to deflect international attention from its own appalling record of state-sponsored terrorism, minority persecution and sectarian violence, apart from failure of governance,' the Ministry elaborated.
MEA On Pakistan
MEA's statement also rejected Pakistan's baseless allegation of 'unprovoked and unjustified military aggression.'
India's Operation Sindoor, in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, was a 'precise and legitimate act of self-defence against terrorist camps operating from Pakistani territory.'
"It is absurd for Pakistan to speak of targeting only Indian military installations when its retaliatory attempts not only failed but recklessly endangered civilian lives and property and ended up causing several deaths and injuries among the civilian population," the statement added.
Pakistan's 'Irony'
MEA also slammed Islamabad, stating, "It is also ironic that Pakistan, a country with an abysmal human rights record and a history of sheltering, breeding and empowering terrorists, should lecture others on counter-terrorism and human rights."
Operation Sindoor
The tensions between India and Pakistan were escalating for a while after the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22.
Following the attack, while New Delhi took several punitive measures against Islamabad, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
After this, Pakistan also launched a series of drone and missile attacks on Indian territory; however, a ceasefire was declared on May 10 after Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) contacted his Indian counterpart.

BJP pays tributes to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee
Puttaparthi: On the occasion of the death anniversary of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Sri Sathya Sai District BJP leaders, led by district president GM Shekhar, paid floral tributes at the BJP district office in Puttaparthi. Addressing the gathering, Shekhar stated that Dr Mookerjee was the first patriot to sacrifice his life for the country in independent India. He recalled that after opposing Article 370—which granted Jammu & Kashmir a separate constitution, prime minister, and flag—Dr Mookerjee founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. He launched a massive Satyagraha under the slogan 'Ek desh mein do Vidhan, do Pradhan aur do Nishan nahi chalenge' (In one country, there shall not be two constitutions, two prime ministers, or two flags). In 1953, Mookerjee defied the permit system and attempted to enter Jammu & Kashmir without official permission, protesting laws that prohibited Indian citizens from settling there and required them to carry ID cards. He was arrested while crossing the border and later died in custody on June 23, 1953, reportedly due to inadequate medical treatment. His sacrifice led to the revocation of the permit system, though the nation lost a true patriot, Shekhar added. He further noted that Dr Mookerjee's dream was fulfilled on August 5, 2019, when the Modi government abrogated Article 370, integrating Jammu & Kashmir fully with India. Several BJP leaders and members participated in the homage event, including State Kallugeetha Federation Convener Harikrishna Goud, District Vice Presidents Kondamaraju and Katti Rajareddy, Media Convener Jyothi Prasad, Treasurer Surendra Babu, Dharma Cell Convener Balagangadhar, Penukonda Assembly Convener Medara Srinivasulu, Town President Kalyan Kumar, and senior leaders like Soke Ramanujaneyulu, LV Ramesh Babu, Kumar, Ramajinaik Vishwanath, Shivashankar Reddy, and VHP President Nagarjuna Shetty.

Sharp recovery in INR supported by deep decline in oil prices; dollar pullback
The Indian rupee witnessed a sharp rebound against the dollar in opening trades on Tuesday tracking a pullback in dollar and deep decline in international crude oil prices. WTI crude oil futures are down around 2.5% in early Asia on Tuesday following a sharp plunge by over 7% in the previous session as President Trumps announced that a ceasefire has been agreed upon between Iran and Israel. Meanwhile, dollar dropped from a 3-week high after Fed Governor Bowman and Chicago Fed President Goolsbee said they favored a Fed rate cut at next months FOMC meeting. INR opened at Rs 86.07 per dollar but pared gains to be currently quoting at 86.11. Yesterday, rupee plunged 23 paise to close at a five-month low of 86.78 against the US dollar amid a strengthening dollar and volatile crude oil prices following the US strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. A sharp decline in the domestic equity markets further pressured the rupee. Indian shares fell on Monday, but ended off their day's lows as markets apparently took the U.S. strikes against nuclear targets in Iran in their stride and waited to see how Iran reacts and what happens to Tehran's nuclear program. The benchmark 30-share BSE Sensex hit an intraday low of 81,476.76 before closing down 511.38 points, or 0.62 percent, at 81,896.79. The broader NSE Nifty index ended down 140.50 points, or 0.56 percent, at 24,971.90, after having hit a low of 24,824.85 earlier. On the NSE, USDINR futures ended higher by 0.14% at 86.78.
