Rabada picked by South Africa for test cricket final after serving ban
JOHANNESBURG (AP) — Kagiso Rabada was picked by South Africa for the World Test Championship final against Australia next month after serving a one-month suspension for using a recreational drug.
The fast bowler has already been cleared to return to play and is back in the Gujarat Titans squad ahead of the restarting of the Indian Premier League on Saturday.
Rabada was banned for testing positive for a recreational drug during a domestic Twenty20 competition in South Africa in January.
The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport said Rabada was eligible for a reduced one-month ban because he completed a substance-abuse treatment program. Rabada has said in a statement he is 'deeply sorry' for his conduct.
When announcing the 15-man squad on Tuesday, South Africa said the group will assemble in England on May 31 and play a warm-up match against Zimbabwe from June 3-6, before heading to London ahead of the WTC final starting June 11.
The Proteas' pace attack will also include Lungi Ngidi, who returns to the test fold for the first time since October 2024 after injury problems.

England win again after chase of 197 against West Indies
Harry Brook's golden touch as England's white-ball captain continued as his side chased down 197 to clinch the T20 series with a four-wicket win over the West Indies in Bristol. Bethell went even harder against Alzarri Joseph, taking three massive sixes from the 16th over. The biggest of the lot cleared the three-story block of flats that looks down on the ground. In just a few minutes England had gone from outsiders to strong favourites, a position only slightly undermined when Bethell threaded a reverse sweep to slip. Banton stayed in place to see his side over the finish line and Brydon Carse edged the winning boundary with nine balls remaining.

Why Chelsea want to sign Jamie Gittens
Jamie Gittens looks set to become the latest member of Chelsea's creche. According to The Athletic, personal terms between the 20-year-old and the West London club have already been agreed, but Borussia Dortmund rejected their latest offer. His reported seven-year contract would keep him at Stamford Bridge until he's 27, so long as the move works out for all parties, of course. It's an investment in the future, something Chelsea have done a lot of recently, so why is Gittens the latest to be of interest? Filling a hole For all the money they've spent, the left-wing position is a weird one at Chelsea. Jadon Sancho has been unceremoniously sent back to Man United, Joao Felix doesn't appear to have any future at the club, and Mykhaylo Mudryk is nowhere to be seen. Advertisement Gittens is a pure left-winger, although he has been deployed in the number ten and as a wing-back previously at Dortmund. He's also right-footed, preferring to cut in and take on a defender and shoot rather than whip in balls, exactly the type of winger that Enzo Maresca seems to love. The fact that he's young and English is a huge plus. If Chelsea's recent transfer activity is anything to go by, they want the club to be a destination for the best young home-grown talent, filling the squad with top-class international talent when necessary. Man City connections Chelsea's Man City links run deep. Cole Palmer is obviously the most prominent; he's become one of the best players in the league since swapping Manchester for London, but there are plenty of other connections between the two clubs, especially behind the scenes. Advertisement Enzo Maresca, and the two directors Joe Shields and Laurence Stewart have all spent time with the Man City academy before moving on and eventually ending up at Chelsea. Those connections are valuable when it comes to learning a player's ability at attitude. Gittens is just the latest on a long list of players who have spent time at the two clubs, and the way things are going, he's very unlikely to be the last. An opportunity in the market Chelsea aren't afraid to pursue what they believe to be an opportunity in the market. Back in January, Dortmund were valuing Gittens at around €100 million, now, it's looking like the youngster will cost around half that after their latest offer of €35 million was rejected. Advertisement Despite what a lot of people may think, Chelsea don't just sign players for the sake of it. In today's market, for a position they've been looking to bolster, the deal for Gittens makes a lot of sense from a financial standpoint. They'll also be aware of his pretty drastic drop-off in form since the turn of the year. Gittens scored 12 goals and provided three assists in his 48 games last season, but only three of those goal contributions came this year. Verdict It's a relatively low-risk deal for Chelsea, so long as they don't pay more than the reported £50 million asking price. Dortmund agree €38m Jobe Bellingham transfer from Sunderland
Borussia Dortmund have agreed a fee of up to €38million (£32m; $43.3m) with Sunderland for Jobe Bellingham. The German club will pay €33m for the 19-year-old, with an additional €5m due in potential add-ons. Sunderland expect those add-ons to be triggered, which would represent a new club-record transfer for Dortmund, surpassing the widely reported figure of €35m they paid Rennes to sign Ousmane Dembele in 2016. Advertisement The fee will also break Sunderland's record for an outgoing transfer, with the newly-promoted club also retaining a 15 per cent sell-on clause as part of the deal. The Athletic reported earlier this week that Dortmund were confident of finalising a deal for Bellingham, who had also attracted interest from fellow Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt. Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac, sporting director Sebastian Kehl and CEO for sport Lars Ricken all visited Bellingham in England at the end of April. CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke also travelled to the north east on a separate visit. Kehl also then flew to Ibiza, where the Bellingham family was on holiday, to further advance the deal. Bellingham joined Sunderland from Birmingham City in the summer of 2023 and has played 90 times for them. Premier League sides Crystal Palace and Brentford were interested in signing the midfielder last summer but he instead signed a new contract at Sunderland, extending his terms until 2028. Bellingham was a regular starter for Sunderland in 2024-25 as they won promotion back to the Premier League via the play-offs. The Englishman joins his brother, Jude, in securing a move to Dortmund following a breakout year in the Championship. Jude, now aged 21, joined Dortmund from Birmingham City, where the siblings came through the academy, in 2020. Bellingham has been included in Lee Carsley's England Under-21 squad for the European Championship in Slovakia. England's first game is on Thursday but the tournament clashes with the Club World Cup in the United States, which Dortmund are a part of. Bellingham can be registered for Dortmund's squad in the extra transfer window FIFA offered to nations which runs from June 1-10, if they choose to. Bellingham's move away is the second major exit of the summer for Sunderland, after winger Tom Watson joined Brighton & Hove Albion in a £10m transfer.
