In conversation with Galatta, Aamir Khan revealed that he was very close to work with Mani Ratnam for Lajo but then things did not materialise. He was quoted saying, 'I have always been a huge fan of Mani and have wanted to work with him for the longest time. I have met him many times, been to his house, and we have had wonderful conversations. We wanted to work with each other and almost did, Lajo, but that didn't work out for some third reason. Nothing to do with him and me. I am a big admirer of his work, and one day I hope we will work together."

The ensemble also features ten newcomers: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. With lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya and music by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, the film is expected to blend heartwarming themes with humour and expressing pride in the final product, Aamir remained realistic about its prospects. He said he is happy with what the team has created but admitted he has 'no idea' how the audience will receive it. Citing a recurring issue throughout his career, he remarked that his films often release at the wrong time.
