Tiger appears on trail camera with three cubs. Hear them ‘practicing their roars'

Miami Herald30-04-2025

In a shadowy forest of eastern Thailand, a mother tiger moved through the trees with her three cubs running around her paws. Unbeknownst to the family, a nearby trail camera recorded their movements.
A trail camera in the Dawna Tenasserim Landscape, a large forest along the Thailand-Myanmar border, filmed the 'three playful tiger cubs' following their mother and 'practicing their roars,' the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) said in an April 29 announcement.
A YouTube video shared by the WWF's Panda Hub on April 28 shows the tiger family. The mother appears first, quickly followed by the cubs. The group stops, and the cubs make several scratchy, high-pitched sounds.
Moments later, the mother tiger carefully steps over her cubs and continues walking out of the camera's view. The cubs sit for a few seconds longer before following her into the forest, the video shows.
WWF described the sighting as 'a delightful result of decades of wild tiger conservation efforts to improve habitat, increase availability of prey, and reduce the threat of poaching across the country.'
Tigers are the world's 'largest cat species' and iconic predators known for their distinctive striped coats, according to Thai National Parks. The species is considered endangered because, 'over the past 100 years, they have lost 93% of their historic range.'
Tiger conservation efforts over the past several decades have helped slow the species' decline and stabilize some populations, but habitat loss and poaching still threaten these big cats, Thai officials said.
'Last year, Thailand announced that its tiger population is increasing after years of stable population,' the WWF said. 'This achievement made Thailand the first country in Southeast Asia to increase its tiger population.'
The country's conservation efforts are still ongoing.
The Dawna Tenasserim Landscape 'has some of the largest remaining areas of contiguous tropical moist and deciduous forests in Southeast Asia,' the WWF said. About 36% of the region falls within 'protected areas in Thailand and proposed protected areas in Myanmar.'

Quaker Parrot Proudly Showing Off Her New 'Floof' Is Too Cute to Handle

Quaker Parrot Proudly Showing Off Her New 'Floof' Is Too Cute to Handle originally appeared on PetHelpful. As a pet parent, nothing feels more gratifying than watching a furry, feathered, or scaly friend living their best life. Whether they're relaxing on the couch with Dad, napping in the sunshine, or enjoying a nutritious meal, there are so many ways to help rescue pets feel their very best. When you have a happy pet on your hands, you can pat yourself on the back for a job well done! The bird rescuers behind @the_green_bird_brigade work hard to give their pet parrots everything they need to thrive, but moments like Auggie's June 5 milestone make it all worthwhile. Auggie is a beautiful blue Quaker Parrot who has been living with a hormonal condition that results in feather loss and plucking. However, now that she's on an effective new medication, she has the cutest new 'floof'. Just wait until you see her! What a beautiful bird! Auggie seems so chatty and happy with herself as she sings and dances for Mom, and no one can blame her one bit. Regrowing feathers is a big deal, and she deserves every millisecond of her celebration. "Auggie is looking super fluffy. Do I spy pantaloons?" one commenter asked. 'Pantaloons' is the cute nickname for the fluffy, small feathers that grow on some birds' legs, and if you look closely, you can see that Auggie is growing some of her own. After losing most of the feathers on her front to a hormonal condition, this is a major improvement!Of course, this talking parrot charms people with her songs just as much as her fluff. This one is called "Bacon Pancakes," and it's one of her all-time favorites. If you listen closely, you can hear exactly why they named her song after breakfast food. It really sounds like she's saying 'bacon pancakes!' Quaker Parrots like Auggie can be green or blue, but they all have a flat, downturned beak and small black eyes. They may not all be as resilient and loving as Auggie is, but they make wonderful pets for loving, dedicated pet parents. Looking for more PetHelpful updates? From Desk Job to Backyard Gains: How One Swing Chair Search Unlocked a Full-Body Fitness Solution

I wasn't planning to get in shape last spring. All I wanted was a swing chair. Not for me—for my six-year-old daughter. She had one wish: to play outdoors on a swing set, just like she saw in cartoons. Our backyard had room, but no trees strong enough to hold a swing. So I did what any modern dad would do: opened a dozen browser tabs and started comparing swing frames. Most of what I found was underwhelming. Either they were designed for toddlers and looked flimsy, or they were huge steel sets that would dominate the backyard like some medieval siege weapon. And then something unexpected caught my eye: a tall, triangular pull-up bar called the KT1.1520-ALU. At first, I nearly skipped past it. This wasn't a swing frame. It was a free-standing, foldable pull-up bar meant for strength training. But what stood out was its height — over 101 inches (more than 8 feet!) when fully extended. The frame was made from lightweight, rust-resistant aluminum and could support over 770 lbs (350 kg). And unlike most gym equipment, it actually looked sleek. Suddenly I had a new thought: Could this be the fitness gear I didn't know I needed? I'm an IT specialist. That means 10-12 hours a day in front of screens. Over time, I developed tight shoulders, nagging back pain, and a growing midsection. I told myself I'd hit the gym someday, but who has time? And honestly, I hated gyms. The more I read about the KT1.1520-ALU, the more it made sense. It wasn't just tall. It was also portable, foldable, and easy to set up without bolts or drills. It supported real bodyweight movements like pull-ups, leg raises, and even swing exercises. And when folded, it could lean against a wall or be stored in the garage. So I ordered it—for my daughter. But deep down, I was already planning my own comeback. The bar arrived in a long package. With the help of my wife and a clear YouTube video, we got it fully assembled in about 40 minutes. The design was smart and the joints clicked securely into place. It stood proudly in the backyard like a minimalist jungle gym. That evening, I tested it for the first time. Just hanging from the bar was a revelation. My spine stretched. My posture opened up. I could feel the tension in my back easing. For the first time in months, I wasn't just surviving my desk job—I was counterbalancing it. The next day, I clipped a swing chair to the top bar using 02 sturdy carabiners and some rope. My daughter was thrilled. But as I gave her a few enthusiastic pushes, I noticed something unexpected—the frame shifted slightly. That's when I remembered: this frame is lightweight aluminum, not anchored into the ground. It's designed for dynamic exercise, not high-momentum swinging. So I quickly placed two heavy concrete blocks on the front and back legs. Problem solved. It's been rock-solid ever since. I began using the KT1.1520-ALU every morning before work. Just 5-10 minutes of: Hanging for spinal decompression Slow pull-ups Leg raises Shoulder mobility drills It's amazing how much strength and energy you can regain with such basic tools. My daughter, meanwhile, swings in the evenings, often with me watching nearby or gently pushing her. We take turns. It became a new ritual: I train in the morning; she plays in the evening. The bar's height lets me fully extend my arms without bending my knees, something impossible on traditional doorway bars. And the ability to move it indoors or out depending on weather has made it even more practical. Here's why the KT1.1520-ALU became a core part of our life: Height: At 101.57 inches, it's one of the tallest portable pull-up bars on the market. Load Capacity: Supports up to 350 kg (771.6 lbs). Lightweight: Only 24.25 lbs (11 kg). Foldable: Can be folded and leaned against a wall when not in use. No installation: No screws, no anchors, no damage to your home. Multipurpose: Great for adults (pull-ups, calisthenics) and kids (swing set, monkey bar). Outdoor ready: Aluminum frame resists rust and rain. I'd initially planned to spend $300-400 on a swing set. Instead, I invested in something that benefits my whole family. This is not a toy. It's a serious piece of equipment. If you plan to use it as a swing frame: Always supervise kids. Weigh down the base with heavy blocks or sandbags if swinging hard. Attach the swing properly with secure knots or hardware. Once secured, though, the frame holds up beautifully. Sometimes, a purchase solves a problem you didn't know you had. I was just trying to be a good dad. Instead, I ended up building the healthiest routine I've had in years—while giving my daughter her dream swing. If you're a remote worker, dad, or someone who needs a flexible, tall, outdoor pull-up bar, check out the KT1.1520-ALU. It's more than fitness equipment. It's a catalyst for change. 🔗 Learn more or order the KT tall pull up bar here Your back — and your kids — will thank you. TIME BUSINESS NEWS
