"Deepest Condolence": Chief Justice BR Gavai On Air India Plane Crash

Chief Justice of India Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai and other judges of the Supreme Court on Thursday expressed their deepest sympathies to the families affected by the air crash of a London-bound Air India plane in Ahmedabad.
A release issued by the top court said, "The Chief Justice of India and Companion Judges of the Supreme Court of India, along with the officials of the Registry express deepest condolence to the families affected by the tragic air crash at Ahmedabad today."
CJI Gavai also expressed his concern for the residents of the B J Medical College where the London-bound Air India plane crashed, causing severe damage to buildings in the premises.
"During this difficult times our thoughts and prayers are with them. May they find strength and solace in the support of their loved ones," the CJI said.
Air India Flight AI 171 with 242 people on board, including passengers and cabin crew, crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad.

Airlines cancelled or diverted flights to Israel, Iran and other countries in West Asia as airspaces were closed after the Israeli military launched an unprecedented attack on Iranian territory, targeting its nuclear sites and military infrastructure. Israel used 200 jets to launch airstrikes on Iran, killing at least 78 people, including high-profile figures like Iran's army chief and senior nuclear scientists. One of the major targets was the Natanz nuclear facility, where fresh explosions were reported on Friday. In response, Iran launched 100 drones that were intercepted outside Israeli territory. After the attack, Israel, Iran, Iraq, Syria and Jordan shut down their airspaces, prompting global airlines to cancel flights or divert them to alternative routes. Two Air India flights to Vienna and London were about to enter Iranian airspace when the attack began, forcing the plane to return, according to Flight Aware. Air India's London-Delhi flight was rerouted over Iraq before arriving at its destination. The Indian airline diverted or called back a total of 16 flights between India and London and cities in Canada and the United States 'due to the emerging situation in Iran". Israeli Airspace Closed Amid Expected Retaliation Furthermore, Emirates and Qatar Airways also cancelled flights to and from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Iran after the hostilities. Air France said it was suspending its flights to and from Tel Aviv 'until further notice" following the closure of Israeli airspace. Airlines operating from Russia, Germany, Switzerland and the UAE suspended flights to Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Iran and Lebanon. Meanwhile, Israel's Ben Gurion Airport was closed until further notice, and Israel's air defence units stood on high alert for possible retaliatory strikes from Iran. Israel's flag carrier, El Al Airlines, said it had suspended flights to and from Israel. Several flights that were due to land either turned around or were diverted to Cyprus or Greece. Israeli airlines said their planes were being moved out of the country as they braced for retaliation. Israel on Friday said it targeted Iran's nuclear facilities, ballistic missile factories, and military commanders at the start of what it warned would be a prolonged operation to prevent Tehran from building an atomic weapon. Later in the day, Iran declared that Israel's attack amounted to a declaration of war and vowed to respond. Traffic diversion in Tiruchi for VCK rally on June 14
The police have announced traffic diversions in Tiruchi city from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday in view of the rally to be taken out by the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi members from Jamal Mohamed College to Campion Higher Secondary School. Buses going to Chennai, Salem, Namakkal, and Thanjavur from the Central bus stand will proceed via Periyar statue, Aristo overbridge, Mannarpuram, and the national highway and return. Chennai-bound buses from Pudukottai will be diverted at Wireless Road and proceed via K.K. Nagar, LIC Colony junction, Sundar Nagar, and Mannarpuram. City buses bound for the central bus stand from Palakkarai will be diverted at Palakkarai overbridge and proceed via Beema Nagar, Court, Collectorate Office Road and Periyamilaguparai. City buses plying from the Central Bus Stand on Palakkarai route will go via Vestry roundabout, MGR statue, Puthur Four Road junction, South Arch and Thennur overbridge. Heavy vehicles coming from G Corner and proceeding to airport and Pudukottai would have to go via Mannarpuram overbridge, Chettiyapatti bridge, check post 2 and new ring road. All vehicles proceeding to TVS Tollgate from MGR statue roundabout would have to go via Cantonment AWPS junction, YWCA, Vestry Roundabout, Collector Office Road, Periyamilaguparai, Aristo overbridge and Mannarpuram. Other vehicles proceeding towards the airport and Pudukottai from G Corner would have to go via Mannarpuram, K.K. Nagar and Wireless Road. A press release from the Tiruchi City Police advised the general public to avoid the stretch from TVS Tollgate to Cantonment AWPS junction till such time the rally commences and gets over and take the alternative route.
