Uppu Kappurambu is a social comedy film that is set in the fictional village of Chitti Jayapuram during the 1990s. The movie is expected to revolve around the escalating pressures the village faces due to the inadequate burial infrastructure.

Talking about the film, director Ani IV Sasi, the son of late Malayalam director IV Sasi, said, 'It uses satire and humour to explore how ordinary people navigate extraordinary situations with limited means but an unbreakable spirit.'
'The movie is a sincere attempt to blend comedy with meaningful commentary, brought to life by an incredible cast and crew,' he added.

The Ani IV Sasi directorial is written by Vasanth Maringanti, originally made in Telugu, and will also be available in languages like Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
Coming to Keerthy Suresh's work front, the actress was last seen in the lead role in Varun Dhawan starrer Baby John. The Hindi adaptation of Thalapathy Vijay 's Theri featured the story of a former IPS officer returning to end his feud with a foe from his past.
In addition to the lead actors, the movie features Wamiqa Gabbi, Zara Zyanna, Jackie Shroff, and others, with Salman Khan making a cameo appearance.
Moving ahead, the actress will next be seen in Revolver Rita, a comedy film written and directed by JK Chandru. The upcoming Tamil-language cinematic venture is scheduled for release on August 27, 2025.

While that often leads to a slew of big titles bunched up together, unlike the West that sees summer as a lucrative period for theatre-going, Indian film studios naturally gravitate towards festivals like Diwali, Independence Day and Christmas, all of which fall in the second half, Puri added. Footfalls in 2024 were lower than the last two years, and continue to remain lower than pre-pandemic levels. Independent exhibitor Vishek Chauhan agreed that the business would have fallen short if not for the handful of hits like Raid 2, Chhaava and Housefull. Unlike pre-covid when medium and small-budget films were finding favour in cinemas along with big franchises and tentpole titles, it is clear that the theatrical landscape is now dominated by franchises and everything else has moved to home viewing. 'The big concern, however, is that the pipeline is still staggered and films aren't getting launched or released with the same consistency as pre-covid. Also, movies still aren't taking big openings. Lifetime earnings are a function of several things, but a good start shows people are at least interested in giving the film a shot," Chauhan added.

Urvashi and daughter Teja Lakshmi to star together in Paablo Paarty
Veteran actor Urvashi and her daughter Teja Lakshmi are set to share screen space for the first time in Paablo Paarty, an upcoming Malayalam-Tamil film launched in Kochi on Sunday with the release of its title poster. The film is directed by Arathi Gayathri Devi, who previously helmed the yet-to-be-released Shine Tom Chacko-Sreenath Bhasi starrer Theri Meri. Paablo Paarty, scripted by Bibin Abraham Mecheril from a story penned by Malikappuram writer Abhilash Pillai, features an ensemble cast including Mukesh, Siddique, Saiju Kurup, Shine Tom Chacko, Balu Varghese, Anusree, Aparna Das, Bobby Kurian, Rony David Raj, Govind Padmasoorya, Anna Rajan and Meenakshi Raveendran.
