EXCLUSIVE: Barun Sobti diagnosed with ADHD – Psychotherapist Kavya Kanupuru on how to know if you have it and what to do

Barun Sobti, one of the well-known actors of the entertainment industry, recently had a long discussion with Pinkvilla. In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, Barun admitted being diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). After this, Pinkvilla exclusively spoke to Psychotherapist Kavya Kanupuru to learn about ADHD, its symptoms, causes and how it is diagnosed. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a medical condition where the person has differences in brain development and brain activity that affect attention, the ability to sit still and self-control. Barun Sobti admits being diagnosed with ADHD While exclusively speaking to Pinkvilla, Barun Sobti described how he is not a materialistic person and mentioned how money never motivated him. He expressed how creative satisfaction matters him the most. Barun admitted how he gets restless if his creativity is not satisfied. He said, "I'm ADHD anyway. I go crazy if I'm not doing anything that really satisfies me. It took me time to understand." Further, speaking about confidence, the Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon actor shared, "Confidence kam hai. Himmat zyada hai (Confidence is less but courage is more)." He added, "I'm a very anxious person. Anxious logo ka confidence humesha technically kam hi hoga, always. (Anxious people's confidence is technically less, always). They are always thinking about what can go wrong." Barun even shared how doing the interview was also an anxious moment for him. As Barun admitted being diagnosed with ADHD, we exclusively spoke to Psychotherapist Kavya Kanupuru to learn about it. While talking to us, she shared the symptoms, causes, methods to manage ADHD and more. Excerpts from the interview are below: Everything you need to know about ADHD Symptoms ADHD is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. This disorder impacts attention, the kind of activity people do and how impulsive they can be. There are two types of ADHD - one is often seen in children, child ADHD, and the second is in adults. The core symptoms of ADHD are Attention Span, Hyperactivity and Impulsiveness. The core symptoms would be something like they are not able to pay any attention in a classroom. These kids cannot stay attentive, they cannot follow the class, and they are very disorganised. Next thing would be hyperactivity. They are very hyper, restless. When they start talking, they might just interrupt everyone and cannot stop talking. They are known to be extremely impulsive that would be the third core symptom. They just do things without thinking about it. Causes Sometimes it runs in families. It could be genetic or exposure to some kind of toxins. Issues in brain functioning. Some people have issues with dopamine relation in brain. Those kinds of cases commonly result in ADHD. How to learn about ADHD diagnosis? One common thing that is happening these days is people self-diagnosing themselves with ADHD and other issues like anxiety disorders or depressive disorders. That is not the right way to do it. In India, only an RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) certified clinical psychologist or psychiatrist, after going through the entire case history of the patient, can diagnose them with ADHD. Once it is diagnosed, then it can be managed through medication, along with behavioral therapy and lifestyle changes. How to manage ADHD? Lifestyle changes, including bringing in structure and routine to life. Practising mindfulness, importantly prioritising sleep because people with ADHD if their sleep routine is not good, the symptoms can aggravate. Regularly working out will help them. In diet, avoiding anything that can increase the sugar level will also benefit them. CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is effective for ADHD. Any behavior modification therapies, if it is for kids, then they can try ADHD coaching or parental therapy. These kinds of therapies work. Also, mindfulness therapies and group therapies are effective. ‘The Accountant 2' movie review: Adds up to a fairly good time

An assassin, Anaïs (Daniella Pineda), walks into a bar to meet Raymond King (J.K. Simmons), a former Treasury agent. He tells her he needs help finding a missing Salvadoran family and is then killed in the ensuing shootout. Treasury agent and King's protégée, Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), finds King's body with 'Find the Accountant' scrawled on his arm. Meanwhile, Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck), aka the Accountant, has gamed the dating app system and finds himself at a singles night, baring his teeth in what he imagines to be a pleasant smile. Though skeptical, Medina contacts Wolff, who ropes in his brother Braxton (Jon Bernthal) for backup. Braxton is still a lethal assassin, despite being two weeks away from adopting a corgi puppy (aww) and sharing stories about the well-paid terrier from The Wizard of Oz with the lady at his job site. Chris, who is on the spectrum and brilliant with numbers, works as an accountant for dangerous people around the world. He stays one step ahead of the villains with help from Justine (Allison Robertson, Alison Wright, voice), whom he met as a boy at the Harbor Neuroscience Academy. The Accountant 2 (English) Director: Gavin O'Connor Cast: Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Daniella Pineda, J.K. Simmons Storyline: A family goes missing, and everyone searching for them ends up in deep trouble. Run time: 132 minutes The hunt for the Salvadoran family pits the trio against human traffickers and all-around bad guys, including Burke (Robert Morgan), Cobb (Grant Harvey), and Batu (Andrew Howard). While not as tightly written as 2016's The Accountant, and therefore not quite as fun, The Accountant 2 shines in scenes where Bernthal and Affleck riff off each other. Shifting the focus away from Affleck's autistic accountant makes the sequel feel more like a standard action flick. The sequel also suffers from several inexplicable plot points. Unlike the original, where Medina's methodical tracking of Christian felt detailed and believable, this film skips over key motivations, starting with why King spent his retirement searching for this one family. Christian's back-story and where he got his particular set of skills added layers of authenticity to the character while helping in the world building. Still, Affleck remains watchable as ever, and even busts out some cool dance moves. What is with all these dancing accountants? We just saw Tom Hiddleston burn up the dance floor in The Life of Chuck! Apparently, a third film and a series are in the works. For fans of The Accountant, the sequel may not deliver the same delight, but it is still a fairly engrossing action film with slick fights and high-octane chases. The Accountant 2 is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video

Queen Camilla stays neutral amid ongoing rift between King Charles and Prince Harry

London, June 7 (UNI) Amid continuing tensions between King Charles and Prince Harry, Queen Camilla has chosen to remain neutral, staying away from the discord that has fractured the British royal family. The Queen "stays out of it", a source told PEOPLE in this week's exclusive cover story. The family's fractures came to light when the Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped back from their royal roles in 2020, and today, the deep divide between the King and Harry remains one of the most painful fissures in his reign. Since then, the chasm has widened through a cascade of media exposés, a Netflix docuseries and Harry's incendiary memoir, 'Spare', in which he notably characterised Camilla as a manipulative figure intent on restoring her public image, allegedly at the expense of his own. "I had complex feelings about gaining a stepparent, who I thought had recently sacrificed me on her personal PR altar," Prince Harry said in his memoir. In an interview with Good Morning America in 2023, he further explained: "She had a reputation or an image to rehabilitate, and whatever conversations happened, whatever deals or trading was made right at the beginning, she was led to believe that that would be the best way to doing it." Still, Harry struck a tone of reluctant civility, noting: "We haven't spoken for a long time. I love every member of my family, despite the differences. So when I see her, we're perfectly pleasant with each other. She's my stepmother. I don't look at her as an evil stepmother. I see someone who married into this institution, and done everything she can to improve her own reputation and her own image, for her own sake", reports PEOPLE. King Charles is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, adding pressure to reconcile with Harry before it's too late. Although both were recently in North America, they didn't meet. In 'Spare', Harry opened up about his conflicted feelings surrounding his father's marriage to Camilla and alleged that she traded information with the press to salvage her public image. There has been a desire to reconnect at times, but "the underlying issue is trust", according to royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith. "The King and William don't trust Harry and Meghan with any kind of confidential conversation," Bedell Smith says. Insiders add that King Charles isn't encouraged by his inner circle. The Prince of Wales has shown no interest in extending an olive branch, and senior aides like Clive Alderton, who was targeted in 'Spare', are unlikely to encourage outreach. "There is not a good angel in his ear to say, 'Be a good dad and make the first move,' " says Valentine Low, author of the upcoming book 'Power and the Palace'. UNI NST RN
