Jury begins deliberations in trial of man accused of murdering rapper Pat Stay
The jury has begun deliberating in the murder trial of the man accused of killing battle rapper Pat Stay in 2022.
Justice Scott Norton delivered his final instructions to the jury Tuesday morning. The jury started deliberations around 2:10 p.m.
Adam Drake has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder. His trial has sat over the span of six weeks.
Drake is accused of stabbing Stay at the Yacht Club Social, a former nightclub on Lower Water Street in Halifax, around 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 4, 2022.
Stay was pronounced dead at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre less than an hour later.
Drake was arrested for murder at a gas station in Upper Tantallon, N.S., the morning of Sept. 10, 2022.

Quebec police arrest 22 ‘high-risk' sex offenders after surveillance operation

They underwent eight arrest warrants for failing to comply with the federal Sex Offender Information Registration Act. 3 charged in drug trafficking investigations in Drayton Valley

THE CANADIAN PRESS/Jason Franson RCMP said community response teams helped with the arrest of three people accused of drug trafficking in the Drayton Valley area. The arrests were made during two separate investigations in the first week of June. On June 3, a 36-year-old man and 32-year-old woman, both Drayton Valley residents, were arrested after a home at the Poplar Ridge Trailer Court was searched and RCMP seized 60 grams of methamphetamine, brass knuckles and $840 in cash. The man's charges include possession for the purpose of trafficking, four counts of breaking a release order and possession of a dangerous, prohibited weapon. He was remanded into custody. The woman was charged with breaching probation and possession for the purpose of trafficking. She was released on conditions and is expected to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Drayton Valley on July 15; the man is scheduled to appear there on June 17. RCMP said they made another arrest on June 5 as a result of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation that led to the seizure of methamphetamine, fentanyl, cash and brass knuckles. A 39-year-old man from Drayton Valley was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl, possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl and possession of proceeds of crime. He was released on condition and is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice on July 15.
