Post-mortem reveals mother and son died from stab wounds to chest and back
MELAKA: A post-mortem has confirmed that a mother and her eldest son were fatally stabbed in the chest and back, in an incident where the suspect is believed to be the woman's second son, aged 17.
Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the 51-year-old teacher had suffered stab wounds to her chest and back, while her 21-year-old son died from a stab wound to the chest.
'A third victim, the youngest son aged 13, remains in intensive care at Melaka Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition,' he said in a statement today.
Police said the suspect was arrested outside the family home, appearing dazed at the time. A 20cm bloodstained folding knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was found in a school bag outside the house.
The incident is believed to have occurred around 5 am on Thursday, with the victims were found unresponsive and covered in blood in the living room.
The teenager has been remanded for seven days until June 19 by Magistrate N. Sivashangari at the Ayer Keroh Magistrate's Court, to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Man gets jail, rotan for raping stepdaughter

Kota Kinabalu: A 46-year-old man, who raped his stepdaughter, was sentenced to 21 years in jail and given 12 strokes of the cane. Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus handed the sentence to the man after making the decision at the end of defence stage and ruling that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt against the accused on Friday. Advertisement The man was found guilty of raping the 11-year-old stepdaughter at 1.57pm on Dec 30, 2021 at a house in Inanam. He was convicted of the offence under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code for committing incest, which provides for a jail term of between eight and 30 years and whipping of at least 10 strokes, on conviction. The court ordered the man to serve the jail sentence from the date of his conviction but granted his application to stay execution of the sentence. But the man must file the notice of appeal by today (June 14). Additionally, the court ordered the man to be placed under police supervision for three years pursuant to the Section 295 (1A) Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) as well as to undergo a rehabilitative counselling within the period of his detention under section 295A of the CPC. Seven prosecution and four defence witnesses had been called to testify during the hearing. Begging for a minimum sentence, counsel Nurul Rafeeqa Afdul Mutolip who was just appointed on the day of the decision, told the court that it was the man's first offence and had no previous conviction record. According to Nurul, the man had apologised to the daughter and his family. She added that despite of the case, the man also had performed his responsibility by supporting his wife and the victim, financially. In reply, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Shafeerah Mad Iskim urged the court to impose the heaviest sentence on the man. 'This is in consideration of the fact that the man had wasted the court's time as the trial has been ongoing for so long. The witnesses brought forward by the man did not have any relevance to the case and further delayed the trial. 'The law was made to protect children below 16 years of age from sexual exploitation by someone who is clearly influential against the child, and/or someone who has familial relationship with the victim, hence the minimum eight years imprisonment punishment under section 376(3) of the Penal Code,' said Shafeerah. She further submitted that even though the man had sought apology from the victim, the trauma would forever remain as a dark chapter in the victim's life. Selangor MACC detains NGO head for suspected decade-long fund misuse from 2015 to 2025
KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 — The Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested the chairman of a non-governmental organisation (NGO) in connection with alleged misappropriation of the NGO's funds. Melaka Magistrate N. Sivashangari granted a seven-day remand order against the suspect following an application by the MACC yesterday morning. According to a source, the man, in his 30s, was arrested at around 6.30 pm yesterday when he turned up to give his statement at the MACC office in Melaka. 'Yesterday, the MACC detained four individuals on remand over suspected abuse of power involving the misappropriation of NGO funds at their workplace. 'Following the arrests, the MACC obtained further information indicating that the chairman had conspired with the four suspects,' the source said. The offences are believed to have been committed between 2015 and 2025. Selangor MACC director Hairuzam Mohmad Amin@Hamim, when contacted, confirmed the arrest, saying the case is being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009. — Bernama
