Manchester Square property management said an Oilers watch party will go ahead as planned for the rest of the games in the Stanley Cup Final. Thursday morning's air quality health index is listed as low risk in Edmonton, which is a welcome change to organizers. A very high risk reading on Wednesday saw the city shrouded with wildfire smoke. Experts suggested wearing a mask when the index was seven or higher and staying indoors. 'We're going to leave it up to the public's opinion. If you feel comfortable, by all means, you can come down,' Giordano Morgulis, with the Manchester Square property developers and management team, told CTV News Edmonton on Wednesday. Morgulis said the watch party, which is in its first year and held in collaboration with the 124 Street Business Improvement Area, follows the city's recommendation for outdoor activities and events. The event is free and fans are encouraged to bring their own chairs and seating. A big television screen will be up to watch the Edmonton Oilers face off against the Florida Panthers in Game 4 on Thursday night and in Game 5 on Saturday night. Both games will have a 6 p.m. start time. 'I do recommend (that) if anyone wants to come down and watch it on Saturday, (to) get here very early. It's going to be a great day,' Morgulis said, adding that the last game viewing had more than 2,000 people. 'The outcome has been amazing. It's great for the community. It's great for the Oilers. It's great for the local tenants here as well,' he said. 'We're on board with keeping it up year after year.' Morgulis added that even if the smoke returns and air quality conditions worsen, he hopes they will be able to overcome each obstacle to keep the event going. 'That's kind of the punches we take when we keep rolling with them. There's always going to be things that give a little bit of hurdles to everybody,' Morgulis said. E.M. did not give ‘valid consent' to ex-Hockey Canada players, Crown argues at sex assault trial
The Latest The sexual assault trial that began in late April for five former Hockey Canada world junior players continued today in Ontario Superior Court in London. Assistant Crown attorney Meaghan Cunningham resumed her closing arguments, responding at length to submissions put forth by the defence teams. She argued there has been no 'fundamental change' in E.M.'s narrative of the alleged assaults from 2018 to today. She also took aim at the defence argument that the allegations at the centre of this trial were somehow motivated by potential financial gain, noting E.M.'s civil settlement with Hockey Canada was concluded before the sex assault charges were laid. The proceedings are expected to wrap up in the afternoon. Justice Maria Carroccia will deliver her decisions on July 24. All five men — Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Dillon Dubé and Cal Foote — have pleaded not guilty to alleged sexual assaults at a hotel in June 2018.

Wimbledon announces record £53.3-million prize fund and £3-million for singles champions
Wimbledon's prize money has risen to a record 53.5 million pounds (about US$73-million) and the singles champions will each earn three million pounds (US$4-million), All England Club officials announced on Thursday. The total amount is 3.5 million pounds (US$6.8-million) more than last year, an increase of 7 per cent — and exactly twice the pot handed out to competitors at the grass-court Grand Slam 10 years ago. 'We're immensely proud of the fact that if you look back 10 years, you can see the increase over that period and seven per cent this year,' All England chair Deborah Jevans said. 'And we have listened to the players, we have engaged with the players.' The 2025 winners' checks represent an 11.1 per cent jump on last year's prizes for the men's and women's singles champions and comes amid growing player demands for a bigger share of grand slam profits. Players who lose in the first round of singles will get 66,000 pounds, up 10 per cent year on year. 'The focus on just the prize money at four events, the Grand Slams, does not get to the heart of what the challenge is for tennis,' Jevans added. 'The challenge with tennis is the fact that the players don't have an offseason which they want, they have increasing injuries that they're speaking about, and we've always said that we as Wimbledon are willing to engage and talk with the tours to try and find solutions, and that door remains open.' Wimbledon starts on June 30 and runs until July 13. For the first time in the oldest Grand Slam, line judges will be replaced with electronic line-calling.
