After losing 93 to 58 to the Fever on opening day, the Sky fell once again, this time by a score of 79 to 52. Despite Indiana's 79 points being the fewest that Chicago has given up all season, the Sky's 52 points on Saturday were the franchise's lowest since 2011 (via CHGO Sky).
No player scored in double figures for the Sky in the loss, but both Kamilla Cardoso and Rebecca Allen had eight points. Hailey Van Lith and Elizabeth Williams each added seven.

On Sunday, the Sky announced that 15-year veteran guard Courtney Vandersloot would undergo surgery on a torn ACL, causing her to miss the remainder of the season. She sustained the injury during the first quarter of Saturday's contest.

The hits kept coming for Chicago, as they reported on Monday that point guard Moriah Jefferson would be out once again for Tuesday's game against the 8-0 New York Liberty.
"Chicago Sky Status Report for tomorrow's game against the Liberty," Sky reporter Karli Bell wrote. "Moriah Jefferson (leg) is OUT."
Jefferson has played eight WNBA seasons and was traded to the Sky from the Connecticut Sun alongside Rachel Banham last season in a deal that also featured Marina Mabrey. She played 14 games for Chicago in 2024 and averaged 0.9 points and 1.7 assists (via Pro Basketball Reference).
She has yet to play in a contest during the 2025 WNBA season as she has dealt with a leg injury. That stretch will continue as she was ruled out once again for Tuesday's contest against the defending champion New York Liberty.

Chicago will travel to the Barclays Center for their second matchup of the season against the Liberty. Last month, the Sky fell to New York by a score of 99 to 74.
The Sky will have a chance to remedy this loss and try to earn their third win of the season on Tuesday. Tipoff for this Commissioner's Cup game is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EST.

Chicago Sky React to WNBA's Angel Reese News on Tuesday

Chicago Sky React to WNBA's Angel Reese News on Tuesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese had a bounce-back performance on Tuesday night against the New York Liberty. Scoring just four points in a loss to the Indiana Fever on Saturday, Reese responded with a double-double in Barclays Center, which was her fourth of the year. Advertisement Finishing with 17 points, 11 rebounds and three assists in the losing effort, Reese recorded her highest-scoring game of the 2025 WNBA season. Unfortunately for Chicago, this performance came in a losing effort, as the Sky fell 85-66 to New York. The loss dropped Chicago to 2-6, while New York remained perfect at 9-0 to keep pace with the undefeated Minnesota Lynx. Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (5).Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images Reese's performance on Tuesday was not only her best of the season, but it also made WNBA history. After the game, the league announced she is now the fastest player to reach 30 career double-doubles, doing so in just 42 games. The previous fastest was Tina Charles who did so in 47 games. Advertisement The Sky reacted to this announcement from the league by reposting it on X, sharing the WNBA's acknowledgement of their 23-year-old forward. Reese is no stranger to making WNBA history, particularly with her ability to tally double-doubles. The 2024 All-Star set an all-time record last season with 15 straight double-doubles, and also set the league's single-season rookie record in that category. With her performance on Tuesday, Reese raised her season averages to 12.1 rebounds, 10.1 points and 2.6 assists in eight games. If these were to hold, Reese would make it consecutive seasons in which she averaged a double-double. Liberty Reacts to Coco Gauff's Appearance at Chicago Sky Game

Liberty Reacts to Coco Gauff's Appearance at Chicago Sky Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Coco Gauff turned heads courtside Tuesday night as the tennis star made a surprise appearance at the New York Liberty's home game against the Chicago Sky. Advertisement The Liberty, still undefeated this WNBA season, had another reason to celebrate and they made it clear on Instagram, calling Gauff and team mascot Ellie the 'LINK UP OF THE YEAR!!!' Fresh off her historic win at the French Open, where she became the first American woman to win since Serena Williams in 2015, the 21-year-old tennis champion brought her star power courtside at Barclays Center. She was joined by her brother Cameron and Vanessa Bryant, widow of NBA legend Kobe Bryant, as the Liberty cruised to an 85-66 victory over the Sky. In photos from the game, Gauff was all smiles, flashing a peace sign. She wore a blue jacket, ripped black jeans and New Balance sneakers. Around her neck hung an infinity chain and her hair was styled in a sleek single braid. Advertisement Gauff's court appearance came just days after her win in Paris, but that didn't stop her from engaging with fans and waving to the crowd during a timeout. Even the WNBA's official X account couldn't hold back. Professional tennis player Coco Gauff (l) and journalist Arielle Chambers (r) at the Chicago Sky vs. New York Liberty Cruz-Imagn Images '2x Grand Slam champion – Coco Gauff is courtside in New York,' the WNBA wrote. As the Liberty rolled to a 9-0 record and Coco Gauff soaked in the action with a smile it was clear: this was more than just a game, it was a celebration of how far women's sports have come. Brianna Stewart Names Liberty's Weak Link Without Hesitation

Brianna Stewart Names Liberty's Weak Link Without Hesitation originally appeared on Athlon Sports. With a record now of 9-0 following a drubbing of the Chicago Sky in Brooklyn on Tuesday, the defending-champion Liberty appear to be a team without flaws. The final was 85-66, but the reality was that New York never trailed in the game and held a lead that swelled to as much as 34 points. Advertisement New York joined the Lynx with a nine-game winning streak to start the year, and in the early going of this WNBA season, it certainly appears as though there are two teams, followed by everyone else. And even within that pairing, the Liberty look like the better team, with only two games (at home vs. the Valkyries and on the road in Indiana) that qualify as close. The Lynx's average margin of victory is an impressive 10.7 points. The Liberty, though? It's 19.8 points. But after the game against the Sky, star forward Breanna Stewart was asked by ESPN's Scott Van Pelt whether New York had any weaknesses--a fair question, considering what a wrecking ball the team has been thus far. Breanna Stewart, Liberty© Grace Smith/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images As Van Pelt put it, "You guys are kind of a machine right now, it seems to me." Advertisement Stewart shot right back. "Just our rebounding," she said. "Defensive rebounding, we always know we can do better at. Chicago beat us on the boards tonight. And we've got to just continue to keep stepping up without (Jonquel Jones)." Jones missed Tuesday's game with an ankle injury. The Sky did outrebound New York, 37-29, and the Liberty gave up 10 offensive rebounds. Heading into Tuesday's game, though, the Liberty were fifth in the WNBA with 36.5 rebounds per game.
