SEC Tournament - Texas vs. Vanderbilt Prediction: Odds, Expert Picks, Betting Trends, and Stats
The second game of the day in the SEC Tournament features the Texas Longhorns (17-14, 6-12) and the Vanderbilt Commodores (20-11, 8-10).
Some have Texas on the fringe of the NCAA Tournament conversation. Frankly, that is difficult to believe especially considering how the Longhorns closed the season. Texas lost two of their last three including the season finale at home to Oklahoma, 76-72. Texas needs to make a deep run in the SEC Tournament in order for those conversations to include NCAA Tournament committee members.
Vanderbilt appears to be in the Field of 68. They, however, are not entering today's game playing their best having lost their last two to SEC also-rans Georgia and Arkansas. Thus, it would behoove them to take care of business today against Texas and remove doubt from the committee as to their intentions with the Commodores.
Lets dive into the matchup and offer some information and possibly a sweat or two.

CBS Sports' latest NBA mock draft has Walter Clayton Jr. going to this team out west
CBS Sports' latest NBA mock draft has Walter Clayton Jr. going to this team out west Former Florida basketball guard Walter Clayton Jr. is officially getting first-round buzz ahead of the 2025 NBA draft, with CBS Sports projecting him at No. 29 overall to the Phoenix Suns. Clayton, who averaged 18.3 points per game and shot 38.6 percent from three last season, was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2025 Final Four. His draft stock soared following a scorching NCAA Tournament run, where he averaged over 22 points and shot 43.5 percent from beyond the arc. CBS Sports' Gary Parrish called him "a skilled and unique shotmaker" and noted that while scouts have concerns about his decision-making and defense, his ability to score at all three levels make him a valuable late-first-round target. If selected, Clayton would become Florida's first NBA first-round pick since Tre Mann in 2021 when the Oklahoma City Thunder selected him with the 18th overall pick. Clayton's rise caps off a remarkable career transformation under head coach Todd Golden and solidifies the Gators' place back among college basketball's elite programs. What CBS Sports said about Clayton "Clayton was the star of Florida's national title run while averaging 22.3 points on 43.5% shooting from beyond the arc in those six NCAA Tournament games. There are concerns about his decision-making and approach to defense, but the Most Outstanding Player of the 2025 Final Four is such a skilled and unique shotmaker that he's worthy of a serious look this deep in the first round by a Phoenix franchise that probably needs to hit the reset button." ESPN's 'College GameDay' heading to Texas vs. Ohio State for Lee Corso's final show
Lee Corso's final 'College GameDay' will be in Columbus, Ohio. ESPN announced Tuesday that its pregame show would head to Ohio State's Week 1 matchup with Texas. The network said earlier this year that Corso, 89, would do one final show before retiring after nearly 40 years with the network. The popularity of 'GameDay' exploded as the pregame show started going from campus to campus in 1993. And Corso first wore a mascot head to make a prediction in October of 1996 when he wore the head of Brutus the Buckeye to pick Ohio State over Penn State. Advertisement From there, Corso's picks got more and more elaborate and became the climax of 'GameDay' right as the show ended before the network's first football game of the day. The choice of Ohio State's game with Texas for the first 'GameDay' of the season isn't much of a surprise even though Fox has the TV rights to the game. The College Football Playoff rematch is the marquee game of the opening weekend after the Buckeyes beat the Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl playoff semifinal on the way to the national title. The game will also be the first Week 1 start for Texas QB Arch Manning as he takes over as the Longhorns' starter in his third season. If 'GameDay' didn't go to Columbus, the obvious alternative would have been a trip to Tallahassee. Corso played football at Florida State — he was roommates with legendary actor Burt Reynolds — and the Seminoles host Alabama in Week 1.

ESPN announces Ohio State as first College GameDay stop of 2025 football season
ESPN announces Ohio State as first College GameDay stop of 2025 football season ESPN's College GameDay will kick off the season in Columbus for the Ohio State versus Texas game. ESPN has announced the host for their opening College GameDay of the season, and no surprise it will be in Columbus. As I'm sure everyone knows by now, next season will open with a College Football Playoff semifinal between Ohio State and the Texas Longhorns. It should be a battle of top five teams, and will almost certainly be the most-viewed game of the weekend. It was also already announced as the host for Fox's Big Noon Kickoff, meaning we'll once again get both gameday pre-shows in the same place. (Ironically enough, while the shows do coincide sometimes, it's not as often as you'd expect, given that both networks want to travel to the biggest game of the week as often as they can.) Of course, the game will also start at noon, much to the chagrin of Buckeyes fans (and lawmakers). Still, the atmosphere and occasion should be as electric as possible for a season-opening game. ESPN is also playing up the fact that it will be Lee Corso's final appearance on GameDay. And, given the fact that Corso began his "headgear pick" tradition back in Columbus in 1996, it's a fitting place for him to hang up his headgear one last time.
