The Masters: The magic of Augusta National is still there 6 months after Hurricane Helene
Augusta National is known for its amazing azaleas, challenging greens and towering pine trees.
But when Hurricane Helene tore through the Southeast last fall, the club reportedly lost hundreds of trees throughout the course — but the spirit of Augusta National remained.

Chip Kern has been coming to the Masters for 28 years. He told Channel 2′s Alison Mastrangelo that he noticed the changes right away.
'16 Lost trees behind it, 15 dramatically two trees are gone— it's going to be really interesting to see how they play it,' Kern said.
John Easley is attending his first Masters. He couldn't point out any major differences walking around the course — he's just in awe that crews were able to get the course ready in time for the first grand slam major of the year.
'It's just pristine here. You can't tell that one of the worst disasters that came through the United States came through this area,' Easley said. 'Walking around here at Augusta, it's amazing what they've done.'

While most patrons might not notice any significant changes to the golf course after Helene, players like Jon Rahm said they really need to go out and experience it first hand.
The golfers have heard about it, but now it's time to play it in the practice rounds.
'The one thing I've heard from members is if you've been here before you can tell there's a difference. When you're looking down the property, you can see a little bit further down,' Rahm said. 'It doesn't necessarily play significantly different but visually there is change there.'
No matter how many trees may or may not be missing from the Masters, patrons and golfers alike can agree it does not take away from the beauty and the magic of the Masters.

The Colorado Rockies have swept the Miami Marlins for their first sweep in 57 different series. The drought is finally over. Advertisement Alongside the Chicago White Sox, the Rockies have been one of the worst teams in professional sports over the last two seasons. It won't be getting better over the next few years either. However, sweeping an opponent is a great feeling, and nobody can take that away from the players. Before the series started against the Marlins, a comparison tweet was made on X, showing that Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 golfer in the World, had as many wins since May 2 as the Rockies did at three. Well, now that the Rockies swept the Marlins, they decided to respond humorously. Of course, it is all in good fun. The PGA only plays Thursday-Sunday, but Scheffler is coming off his third win of the season at The Memorial. Scheffler doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. His burst onto the scene has put him in conversations with Tiger Woods on multiple occasions. He has three career Major wins, including two at The Masters. The next Major is next week, and it will be the U.S. Open. Scheffler will aim to win that for the first time in his career. The Rockies are now 12-50. They will likely end the season with the most losses of all time, surpassing the Chicago White Sox and New York Mets at 120. Their schedule does not get any easier as they take on the Mets this weekend at Coors Field, who just swept them at Citi Field. That series is followed by meetings with the San Francisco Giants and Atlanta Braves. Since then, they have had wins against the Padres, New York Yankees, and Arizona Diamondbacks. It doesn't come often, but the Rockies can score some runs with a young offense. Strawberry Festival prepares for thousands of visitors with rain in the forecast
It will be a busy weekend for the Troy Strawberry Festival with organizers expecting at least 150,000 visitors. They say they are prepared, and have a plan in case of inclement weather. The city started prepping for the festival Thursday morning by putting up barriers. 'You don't want to have that always on the back of your mind,' Ovenshire said. 'Like, man, what if this isn't as safe as it used to be?' Jessica Silver is the head chair of the Strawberry Festival. Silver says they have shaded areas for festival goers. 'Festival location that our volunteers can come in and like, take rests and have some water,' Silver said. 'We also have EMS present on both locations and we have Kettering Health here.' Ovenshire recommends checking the weather before heading out to the festival. 'You know the forecast, it's not that bad,' Ovenshire said. 'And people still come out no matter what.'
