Leaders17 hours ago

Germany, France, and Britain stand prepared to engage in immediate discussions with Iran regarding Tehran's nuclear program, with the aim to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East, according to German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul. During his visit to the region, Wadephul emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue to resolve ongoing conflicts. Hope for Constructive Dialogue
Wadephul expressed his hope for renewed negotiations, stating, 'I hope that's still possible.' He spoke to German public broadcaster ARD, highlighting that Germany, alongside France and Britain, is ready to offer Iran immediate negotiations about its nuclear program. He urged Iran to accept this offer, viewing it as crucial for regional stability.
Wadephul outlined that a key prerequisite for resolving the conflict involves ensuring that Iran poses no threat to Israel or Europe. He noted, 'This is essential for achieving peace in the region.' He also mentioned that the conflict would only end when all parties exert influence on both Iran and Israel.
Wadephul indicated a shared expectation for both sides to make a serious attempt to interrupt the cycle of violence within the next week. He stressed the urgency of this situation, stating that immediate action is necessary to prevent further escalation.
When asked about the potential for the Iranian government to fall, Wadephul clarified that he does not believe Israel intends to destabilize the administration in Tehran. This statement reflects a nuanced understanding of the complex geopolitical landscape. Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza
Turning his attention to Gaza, Wadephul condemned the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian enclave as unacceptable. He urged Israel to grant unrestricted access to aid organizations, emphasizing the dire need for assistance. 'The hunger, the dying, the suffering of the people in Gaza must come to an end,' he stated.
Wadephul also placed blame on Hamas for the ongoing conflict, insisting that the Islamist group must release hostages taken during the October 2023 raid on Israel, underscoring the need for accountability and a resolution to the humanitarian crisis affecting the region.

Iran Mulls Bill to Leave Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei announced on Monday that the parliament is preparing a bill to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), according to Reuters. Baghaei also stressed that Iran remains opposed to the development of mass destruction's weapons. The announcement comes in a crucial time as the Israeli-Iranian conflict enters its fourth day with a significant increase in death toll and causalities from both sides. Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak stated that military action by Israel alone will not be enough to stop Iran's nuclear progress, according to Arab News. Barak mentioned that there are only two ways to stop Iran's nuclear ambitions whether to reach a diplomatic breakthrough or change the Iranian regime. 'My judgment is that because Iran is already what's called a threshold nuclear power, the only way to block it is either to impose upon it a convincing new agreement or alternatively a full-scale war to topple down the regime,' Barak added. On June 13, Israel launched a wave of airstrikes on Iran under the name of Operation Rising Lion. The military campaign targeted Iran's nuclear facilities and killed top military commanders and nuclear scientists. As a response, Iran launched a retaliatory wave of missiles against Israel and targeted Tel Aviv. Israel also killed three more Iranian nuclear scientists, bringing the total number of scientists slain to nine, Gulf News reported. Currently, both countries are trading missiles and attacks amid intensifying efforts to halt the conflict. Saudi Crown Prince, Greek PM Urge for Regional De-escalation

The Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, and the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, discussed on Sunday the ongoing escalation between Iran and Israel, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). During a phone call, the Saudi and Greek leaders discussed the latest developments in the region in the light of the Israeli military operations against Iran. They stressed the importance of self-restraint, de-escalation, and resolving all disputes through diplomatic means. The phone call comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, as Israel and Iran are trading missiles and drone strikes, raising fears of a broader conflict in the region. The conflict sparked on Friday after Israel launched a surprise attack on Iran, targeting its nuclear facilities and killing several top military commanders and nuclear scientists. Iran responded by unleashing waves of ballistic missiles towards Israel. As for Sunday, the Iranian strikes killed at least 14 people in Israel and injured 390 others, while the death toll in Iran reached 224 people, with 1,277 others wounded, the Associated Press (AP) reported citing Israeli and Iranian health authorities. The conflict risks dragging other players, as the Houthi rebel group in Yemen launched missile strikes against Israel in coordination with Iran and the UK moved more assets to the region. Moreover, the US President, Donald Trump, hinted at the possibility of US involvement in the conflict. Short link : Post Views: 18

New Deal or Full-Scale War Can Halt Iran's Nuclear Progress: Former Israeli PM

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak has described Iran as a 'threshold nuclear power,' and noted that military action by Israel alone will not be enough to stop Iran's nuclear progress, according to Arab News. Several Possibilities During a video interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour, Barak stated that Israeli government's ability to put an end to Iran's nuclear program was limited. 'In my judgment, it's not a secret that Israel alone cannot delay the nuclear program of Iran by a significant time period. Probably several weeks, probably a month, but even the US cannot delay them by more than a few months,' he said. However, he noted that such possibility does not mean that Iran will have nuclear weapons as they probably still have to complete certain weaponization. Moreover, they 'probably have to create a crude nuclear device to explode it somewhere in the desert to show the whole world where they are.' Barak also called Israeli strikes on Iran 'problematic,' but Israel has justifications for its actions. 'Instead of sitting idle, Israel feels that they have to do something. Probably together with the Americans we can do more.' New Deal or Full-Scale War 'Israel alone cannot delay the nuclear program of Iran by a significant time period. Probably several weeks… a month,' says Israel's former PM Ehud Barak. 'Even the US cannot delay them by more than a few months.' So what's the strategy here? I asked him. See his response. — Christiane Amanpour (@amanpour) June 13, 2025 Importantly, he mentioned that there are only two ways to stop Iran's progress whether to reach a diplomatic breakthrough or change the Iranian regime. 'My judgment is that because Iran is already what's called a threshold nuclear power, the only way to block it is either to impose upon it a convincing new agreement or alternatively a full-scale war to topple down the regime,' Barak added. Moreover, he said that Israel could do this with the support of the US, but the US seemed to have no willing for this move. 'I don't believe that any American president, neither Trump nor any one of his predecessors, would have decided to do that,' he added.
