First-of-its-kind SAF production policy on the anvil in U.P.
The Yogi Adityanath government will soon come up with the Uttar Pradesh Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Manufacturing Promotion Policy-2025 -- poised to be the first of its kind in the country, officials said.
Chief secretary Manoj Kumar Singh on Sunday apprised industry leaders and investors about the policy at an event hosted by Invest UP.
Singh outlined the proposed incentives, facilitation mechanisms, and state's unique advantages as a production hub.
A key highlight was the policy's potential to benefit the state's farming community.
The SAF industry's demand for biomass and grain-based feedstock, such as sugarcane bagasse, rice husk, wheat straw, and surplus grains, will create new market opportunities for farmers, said Singh.
'This policy not only accelerates our green energy transition but also ensures our farmers directly gain from it, putting more money into their hands while building a greener future,' Singh said.
A detailed presentation by Invest UP showcased the SAF vision in state followed by an interactive dialogue with industry leaders.
On the occasion, Invest UP addressed key topics such as land availability, policy design, and ease of doing business.
More than 18 companies expressed interest in establishing SAF units in the state. Collectively, these firms proposed investment intentions exceeding ₹3,000 crore.
With India's largest network of air, rail, and road infrastructure, including five international airports, Uttar Pradesh offers seamless logistics and market connectivity, Singh said.
Earlier, Invest UP had floated an Expression of Interest (EOI) inviting global SAF technology providers and clean energy innovators to join the ecosystem.
Invest UP CEO Vijay Kiran Anand and senior officials from various departments were present on the occasion.

UP Cabinet approves 20 per cent reservation for former Agniveers in police recruitment
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 3 (ANI): In its first, the Uttar Pradesh cabinet approved a proposal to provide 20 per cent horizontal reservation to former Agniveers in the recruitment process for various posts in the Uttar Pradesh Police. This reservation will apply to direct recruitment for the positions of police constable, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), Mounted Constable, and Fireman. This significant move by the Yogi Adityanath government aims to provide career opportunities to former Agniveers and bolster the state's security forces with well-trained, disciplined, and motivated personnel. On Tuesday, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the trained and dedicated former Agniveers will now participate in achieving the 'Safe Uttar Pradesh - Prosperous Uttar Pradesh' concept. 'For their respectable adjustment after 4 years of service@UPGovthas decided to provide 20% horizontal reservation to former Agniveers in the state police recruitment and 3 years relaxation in the age limit. Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in the country to provide 20% reservation to Agniveers. This reservation will be applicable in the direct recruitment of Police Constable, PAC, Horse Mounted Constable and Fireman,' CM Yogi wrote in a post on X. Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna stated that the primary objective of this decision is to ensure meaningful post-service employment opportunities for Agniveers who complete their four-year tenure under the Agneepath scheme. He emphasised that this reservation will apply across all categories within their respective groups, including General, SC, ST, and OBC. For example, an SC Agniveer will get the benefit within the SC category, and similarly for OBC and other groups. 'We would like to specially congratulate the UP CM for taking care of the future of Agniveers. A provision of 3-year age extension has also been made for those who have served for 4 years as Agniveer, and 20% horizontal reservation was announced by the CM through a resolution passed in the cabinet. This is a big decision in itself, and it will give us a trained force... It has provisions for constables, PAC, horse riders and firemen in the Police,' Khanna told ANI. He also announced that former Agniveers applying for these posts will be eligible for a three-year age relaxation. The first recruitment batch under this policy is expected to be initiated in 2026, coinciding with the return of the first batch of Agniveers. While several states and central forces have introduced reservation policies for Agniveers - such as Haryana and Odisha offering 10 per cent - Uttar Pradesh has taken the lead by implementing 20 per cent horizontal reservation, setting a new benchmark at the national level. This decision not only honours the service of Agniveers but also ensures their continued contribution to national security in a new capacity. The Agneepath scheme, introduced by the Government of India in 2022, allows youth to serve in the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy as Agniveers for a period of four years. The scheme includes six months of training, and upon completion, 25 per cent of Agniveers are inducted into regular service based on performance, while the remaining 75 per cent are encouraged to pursue other career opportunities. At the time of the scheme's launch, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had assured that former Agniveers would be given preference in the Uttar Pradesh Police and PAC. With the implementation of this 20 per cent reservation policy, that commitment has now been fulfilled. This initiative not only provides a stable career path for former Agniveers but also strengthens the state's security infrastructure with skilled and experienced young talent. (ANI)

Dist wise review of Udyami Mitras, DICs to boost investments
Lucknow: To boost investments and ensure effective ground-level implementation of industrial projects, Invest UP — the nodal agency for investment promotion in Uttar Pradesh — initiated a comprehensive review of Udyami Mitras and Deputy Commissioners of District Industries Promotion Entrepreneurship Development Centres (DICs). It will continue until July 8. "The initiative reflects upon the state's unwavering commitment to accelerating industrial development and realising the ambitious vision of becoming a one trillion dollar economy. At the heart of this exercise are 115 Udyami Mitras, who serve as dedicated facilitators across all districts and industrial development authorities. "Their role includes connecting investors with govt systems, easing navigation through policies, supporting land acquisition, and ensuring the timely execution of industrial projects," an official spokesperson said. In the exercise, representatives from three districts are making presentations in a standardised format. It covers key areas like the status of land inventories and sick industrial units, progress made in investment facilitation and project execution, challenges faced on digital platforms such as Nivesh Mitra, and data-driven insights along with proposed action plans for further improvement. "This is the first time DIC officials are participating directly in such an extensive review, marking a significant step toward enhanced interdepartmental coordination. Burglar who invested 10L, disguised as woman held
Mumbai: A 44-year-old man who amassed enough wealth through committing burglaries to be able to invest in properties has been arrested by Malad Police. Ranjit Kumar Singh alias Munna, the accused, would take up a disguise and dress up as a woman before he set out for committing crimes Police have recovered a machine in which he would melt the stolen gold and silver ornaments before selling them. On March 17, the Malad Police had received a complaint about a break-in at a house located near NL School. The burglar had scaled up a floor and entered the house through the window. He robbed cash and ornaments worth Rs 4.5 lakh. A team supervised by DCP Anand Bhoite, ACP Hemant Sawant and senior inspector Vijaykumar Panhalkar and comprising inspector Sanjay Bedwal and detection officer Tushar Sukhdeve, made inquiries in the neighbourhood and analysed CCTV footage. On tracing Singh and questioning him, they learnt that he was involved in eight break-ins in the past three months at Borivli, Kandiali, Malad West and Dindoshi. He had never been arrested earlier for any of the crimes. Singh was a resident of Kharodi village in Malad and a native of Bihar. Police discovered that Singh had paid an individual Rs 10 lakh to invest in a plot of land in Bihar and purchased a house for Rs 6 lakh in Malwani from the ill-gotten wealth. tnn
