Named after legendary Rangers manager Walter Smith, the bar has taken over the premises of the former Gorman's Bar at 33 Queen Street in Rutherglen. Unlike its predecessor, Walter's Bar promises to be more than a traditional pub as the owners hope it will become a new hub for Gers fans both on and off matchdays. It will also honour the Rangers great who managed the club on two separate occasions. Famous pictures and murals depicting Smith are dotted around the venue as well as at least one of his iconic quotes. The words "at Rangers you are never more than two defeats away from a crisis" can be seen written on the pub's ceiling in amongst a sea of blue. Unsurprisingly that's the colour that dominates the outside of the venue as well. Last month the official social media account for the bar teased next week's launch with a message that read: "Something's coming to Rutherglen… "Loud. Loyal. Unapologetically blue.
