Commissioning of Pallivasal hydel power project extension delayed to Sept
Thiruvananthapuram: The commissioning of the Pallivasal hydel power project extension work will be delayed further. The project, earlier scheduled for commissioning on June 17, will now be commissioned in Sept.
According to KSEB, the work on the Pallivasal extension (2X30 MW) was nearing completion. Generation on an experimental basis was ongoing. More than 100 MU of power was already generated and injected into the electricity grid. "The project was getting ready for inauguration on June 17. However, plastic waste and food waste deposited at the trash gate near the intake unit reduced the flow of water. As a result, the unit could not be fully operational at times," KSEB said in a statement.
KSEB stated it was trying to solve the issue permanently. At present, the plastic and food waste from Munnar, clogged at the trash gate, were being manually removed. "Steps were also taken to install a fully automated trash gate cleaner. This work could be completed when the water in the river recedes," KSEB said.

How Mercury signs affect communication in relationships
Mercury is the planet that rules communication, thought patterns, and expression. While most people focus on sun signs for compatibility, Mercury signs often reveal how two people truly connect or misunderstand each other. Knowing your Mercury sign—and your partner's—can help improve how you both listen, speak, and resolve conflicts. Mercury's sign in your birth chart shows how you process information, make decisions, and express yourself. In relationships, this placement can explain why you prefer talking things through, need time to think, or even avoid difficult conversations. For example, Mercury in Gemini enjoys fast-paced, lively discussions, and often jumps between topics. In contrast, Mercury in Taurus prefers calm, steady, and practical communication. They may take longer to respond, but what they say is often well thought out. When two people have Mercury signs that work well together, conversations feel natural and satisfying. If the signs clash, it may lead to confusion or frustration. For instance, Mercury in Cancer tends to speak from emotion, while Mercury in Aquarius prefers logic. They may struggle to understand each other's tone or intention unless they make a conscious effort to bridge that gap. Mercury in fire signs like Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius often speak directly and with passion, sometimes without filters. Mercury in water signs like Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces are more sensitive and intuitive, but may hold back or expect others to read between the lines. Earth Mercury signs like Virgo or Capricorn are precise and detail-focused, while air signs like Libra or Aquarius look for fairness and bigger-picture conversations. By learning how your Mercury sign communicates, you become more aware of your strengths and blind spots in relationships. You can also better understand how your partner thinks and speaks. This helps reduce misunderstandings and creates space for open, respectful, and honest conversations—an essential part of any lasting connection. Happy Eid-ul-Adha 2025: Hindi Wishes, Shayari, Poems, Messages, Quotes, SMS and Status for family and friends
One of the most important festivals for Muslims across the world, Eid-ul-Adha is being celebrated in India today. Also called the Festival of Sacrifice or Bakrid, Eid-ul-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, which is the the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The festival commemorates the unwavering faith and devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), who was willing to sacrifice his own son Ismail (Ishmael) to obey Allah's command. Eid-ul-Adha is not only a time of celebration but also a time of charity, compassion, and reflection, reminding Muslims to care for the less fortunate and to strengthen their connection with Allah. The festival coincides with the Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca, which is an important part of Islam. Eid-ul-Adha: The story behind the festival Eid-ul-Adha holds deep spiritual significance in Islam and commemorates the profound story of faith, devotion, and obedience to Allah. Its roots trace back to the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), for his unwavering belief in Allah. According to Islamic tradition, Prophet Ibrahim had a recurring dream in which Allah commanded him to sacrifice his most beloved thing-- which was his son, Ismail (Ishmael). As a devoted servant of Allah, Ibrahim shared the vision with his son, who courageously agreed to comply with Allah's will. This moment is seen as the ultimate act of submission and faith to Allah, demonstrating both the prophet's and his son's devotion to Allah. But, just as Ibrahim was about to sacrifice his son to fulfill the command, Allah intervened by sending the Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) with a ram to be sacrificed in Ismail's place. This divine intervension saved Ismail and instead the ram was sacrificed-- as this was simply a test of faith and a powerful reminder that Allah values devotion and intention more than the physical act of sacrifice. This is also why the festival is called the Festival of Sacrifice. To honour this event, Muslims around the world observe Eid-ul-Adha by performing Qurbani— the ritual sacrifice of a permissible animal, such as a ram or goat (also called Bakri in Hindi; hence the festival is called Bakrid). The meat from the sacrifice is then divided into three equal parts: one is for the family, the second part is for relatives and friends, and the third part is for the poor and needy. The story of Eid-ul-Adha also coincides with the Hajj pilgrimage, performed annually in Mecca, which further commemorates Ibrahim's journey and submission to Allah. The festival teaches values of selflessness, compassion, and obedience, reminding Muslims to place their trust in Allah and care for those less fortunate. It's a time of reflection, prayer, and unity across the global Muslim community. Eid-ul-Adha: How is the festival celebrated PC: pixabay The celebration begins with a special congregational prayer held in open grounds or mosques. Devotees dress in their finest clothes and gather early in the morning to offer the Eid Salah (prayer), followed by a sermon emphasising the values of sacrifice, unity, and compassion. One of the key rituals of Eid-ul-Adha is the Qurbani, or the sacrifice of an animal such as a goat, ram or sheep. As mentioned earlier, this meat is then divided into three parts: one for the family, another for relatives and friends, and the third for the poor and needy. This act symbolises sharing blessings and caring for others. This is also a time for get-togethers with loved ones; and no festival is complete without fasting. Families also enjoy festive meals together, exchange gifts, and visit relatives and friends. Children often receive new clothes and Eidi (money or gifts) on this day. Throughout the festival, Muslims are encouraged to perform acts of charity, reflecting the festival's spirit of generosity, humility, and gratitude toward Allah's blessings. It is also a time to pause and remember Allah's teachings. Bakrid 2025: Dua for Eid-ul-Adha qurbani to recite before and after sacrifice
Bakrid 2025 Dua: Muslims around the world are celebrating Eid-ul-Adha, also known as Bakrid, Eid-al-Adha, or Eid ul Zuha in Arabic. It is known as the 'Festival of Sacrifice' and is one of the most important festivals in Islam. Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated to honour the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim, who was ready to give up his only son to show his strong faith in Allah. Seeing his deep devotion, Allah replaced his son with a lamb and asked him to sacrifice it instead. This festival is observed every year on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar. Eid celebrations last for three days, though the exact dates may vary from country to country due to different moon sightings and time zones. Dua For Bakrid Qurbani To Recite Before And After Sacrifice Qurbani, also known as Udhiyah or Sacrifice, is a religious practice observed by Muslims during the Islamic festival of Eid al-Adha (also called the Festival of Sacrifice). It commemorates the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. This tradition is followed during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijah every year. As per traditions, Muslims across the world slaughter an animal– a goat, sheep or camel–as a tribute to Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail. Dua for Bakrid Qurbani As today we are celebrating Eid al-Adha across the country in India, and all are prepared for Qurbani after offering Bakrid Namaz. So here is the Dua for Qurbani, that you will recite before and after Qurbani. Eid ul-Adha 2025: Dua for Before Bakrid Qurbani Eid ul-Adha 2025: Dua for After Bakrid Qurbani Bakird 2025: Qurbani meat distribution Many scholars are of the opinion that the meat of the sacrificed animal should be divided into three parts. One-third for the person (and his family) who is offering the sacrifice, one-third should be distributed among relatives/neighbors as a gift and one-third should be given in charity to poor people. If the Qurbani is performed in partnership between several people, the meat should not be distributed by mere approximation but it should be divided after proper measurement of weight. Also, the butcher who sacrifices the animal should not be paid for the meat of the slaughtered animal. The rules dictating the distribution of Qurbani meat states that the sacrificed animals should be equally distributed in three parts.
