
Inaugural carom tourney aims to preserve Kuwaiti heritage
KUWAIT CITY, March 15: The National Resalah Humanitarian Society, in collaboration with Diwan Al-Qattan, successfully hosted the inaugural Ramadan "Carom" tournament. The event aimed to preserve Kuwait's national heritage by reviving traditional games and introducing them to younger generations. It drew a diverse crowd, with participants from all age groups.
Imad Bukhamsin, President of the National Resalah Humanitarian Society, expressed his delight at the success of the first "Carom" tournament. He assured that the event would be held annually, with generous support from the Society and attractive prizes for the winners. He commended the excellent organization of the tournament, which allowed numerous young teams to take part and contribute to its success. Bukhamsin emphasized that the tournament, in partnership with Diwan Al-Qattan, not only aims to revive Kuwait's popular heritage but also to foster communication and friendship among different segments of society. He extended his gratitude to all participating teams, congratulated the winners, and wished those who didn't win better luck in future tournaments. He also thanked the attendees for their encouragement and expressed appreciation for the efforts of the organizing and management teams.

Indonesian cuisine highlight of get-together hosted by envoy
KUWAIT CITY, April 2: Indonesian Ambassador to Kuwait Lena Maryana organized a grand Eid Al- Fitr celebration in Indonesian style at the Sheikh Ahmad Al-Dawood Chalet in Doha. Present at the event were a large number of heads of diplomatic missions and their families, members of the Indonesian community in the country and some Kuwaiti citizens with their families; adding a distinctive cultural touch to the ambiance. In her speech, Maryana expressed her happiness over organizing the event; indicating that such a gathering gives diplomats relief from the pressure of daily work, especially during Ramadan, and to familiarize them with the Eid customs and traditions in Indonesia. She stated: 'We succeeded in bringing together diplomats and members of various communities in Kuwait in a celebration that reflects the spirit of Eid and the values of coexistence and cultural communication, ensuring that this day will remain a beautiful memory for those present.' The event featured traditional Indonesian dishes prepared by volunteer Indonesian women. All those who attended the event enjoyed a variety of Indonesian cuisine. The celebration also included competitive sports and entertainment competitions for adults and children, in an air of fun and joyful interaction among the participants. The atmosphere was filled with art and music, as attendees enjoyed distinctive musical performances, in addition to a karaoke session. ‘Turkiye, Kuwait share culture, traditions'
KUWAIT CITY, March 17: On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, the Turkish Embassy in Kuwait hosted a Ghabga event at its premises on March 16th, 2025. In her welcoming speech, Ambassador Tuba Nur Sönmez emphasized the shared culture and traditions observed by Turkish and Kuwaiti people during Ramadan, such as sharing meals, the strength of 'togetherness,' and engaging in acts of charity. Ambassador Sönmez also highlighted ongoing humanitarian tragedies across the world, including the genocide in Gaza, the war in Ukraine, and the crisis in Sudan. She touched upon the situation in Syria and commemorated the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, calling for constructive engagement for peaceful solutions and creating a world where everyone can practice their faith in harmony. Following her speech, a video showcasing the spirit of Ramadan in Türkiye was screened, presenting the cultural heritage of the country. The evening continued with a performance by four talented Turkish artists: Ms. VediaUlak on the 'ney,' Mr. Fatih Şanver on the 'qanun,' Mr. Onur Gunduzer on the 'guitar,' and Mr. Hasan Tamer on the 'baglama.' Their selections of traditional Turkish folk, art, and Sufi music resonated deeply with the audience. A commemorative group photograph was taken to mark the occasion. Guests at the event indulged in delicacies from traditional Turkish cuisine, including sweets and desserts.
