Man 'spiked girlfriend's coffee' with 'abortion pill' before second 'sickening act'
Anthony Banta has been charged in connection with the death of a unborn child and for allegedy tampering with evidence.
A man allegedly spiked his girlfriend's coffee with an abortion pill leading to a miscarriage that killed her baby.
Anthony Banta has been charged in connection with the death of a unborn child and for alleged tampering with evidence.
As the Mirror reports, the U.S Department of Justice IT worker's ex-girlfriend accused him of secretly putting abortion-inducing medication known as "Plan C", into her drink after an unsuccessful bid to convince her to terminate the pregnancy.
In a press release from the Parker County Sheriff's Office, the woman told investigators that she and Banta were romantically involved in September when she discovered she was pregnant. She claims Banta allegedly offered to pay for an abortion and suggest ordering the Plan C pills online. However, she told Banta she wanted to keep the baby.
In October, the woman claimed she met Banta at a coffee shop in Tarrant County, where she suspected he had slipped abortion medication into her drink without her consent. The following day, she experienced fatigue and heavy bleeding and sought emergency medical care.
Authorities reported that the woman lost her baby on October 19, and she believes the miscarriage was caused by the medication allegedly administered without her knowledge.

According to Parker County Jail records, Banta now faces charges of attempted capital murder and tampering with evidence.
During a probe, detectives seized Banta's phone but allege he remotely accessed the device and initiated a factory reset - erasing potentially critical evidence. Authorities then issued a warrant for his arrest on two felony charges.
Banta was taken into custody last Friday and released the same day after posting bond—$500,000 (£370,537) for the attempted murder charge and $20,000 (£14,818.70) for evidence tampering, according to jail records.
The Parker County Sheriff's Office said the case remains open and is pending prosecution, reports PEOPLE.

Mum says she 'felt violated' after discovering note on son's pram at Butlin's
A disabled mum went to the Skegness holiday park with her two children last month and was left furious when she discovered her four-year-old's pram had been stolen A disabled mother was left feeling "utterly violated" after her son's pram was nicked during a family jaunt to Butlin's. The incident occurred at the Skegness holiday park last month while Sophie, 38, was with her two children. Sophie alleges that the pushchair was pinched from the trolley area outside the swimming pool. Struggling to return to their flat with her 10 year old daughter and four year old son, Sophie reached out to Butlin's for assistance but claims she was advised to rent one for the remainder of their stay at a cost of £21. To add insult to injury, three days later, her pram was discovered with a post-it note attached stating: "Loaned for 5 min, sorry + thank you." The single mother shared her ordeal with Manchester Evening News, saying: "It was more the inconvenience of it. I'm disabled, so is my daughter. We came out of swimming carrying a heavy bag of wet clothes and had to phone Butlin's for someone to come and help me because I only made it half way back to the apartment. "My daughter, was overly distressed by the situation. We had to hire another one. They wouldn't even look at the CCTV." Sophie, from Derbyshire, suggested to the company that a ticket system should be implemented for collecting prams to prevent future thefts, but claims they "aren't interested", reported the Mirror. "Three days after it went it was thrown over the swimming pool fence into the external pram park with a note saying it had been borrowed for five minutes," she recounted. "A friend of mine found it and when we went to pick it up. We heard on the walkie talkies that another pram had just gone, it happens all the time." The mum expressed her discomfort upon retrieving the stroller, saying she "wasn't even that happy to have it back" after it had been in someone else's possession. "I felt utterly violated," she explained. "My little boy's pram had been in someone else's apartment and they had been using it. I felt so scummy using it." Sophie, who visited the holiday park in mid-May, took to a Butlin's Skegness Resort Facebook community page to expose the theft, which led to an uproar among parents who were appalled by the audacity of taking another's pram. One parent decried the lack of security, stating, "Scum, it's about time Butlin's had CCTV or even security in buggy areas," while another was baffled by the act: "How on earth can someone actually think that's ok to do that,". Another parent scrutinised the thief's motives, commenting, "The question is whoever has borrowed it, why have they gone away without a pram if they need one. Very entitled behaviour and I'd be fuming." The Mirror has sought Butlins' response to the incident.

Major Hollyoaks exit confirmed as huge star quits after 9 years
Rory Douglas-Speed is set to leave after nine years as Joel Dexter (Picture: Lime Pictures) Rory Douglas-Speed has quit Hollyoaks after nine years. The popular star, who plays Joel Dexter, has wrapped filming, with his final scenes believed to have already hit screens. Joel, as viewers know, was last seen in a prison cell following his arrest for the murder of Tommy Odenkirk (Brandon Fellows). The former priest discovered that Tommy, who masqueraded as a therapist, was responsible for leaking a video of Leela Dexter's (Kirsty-Leigh Porter) rape ordeal online. What's more, he manipulated Joel into thinking that he'd murdered his brother Billy, which he then used as leverage to try and build a relationship with him. Joel found out that truth and, being spurred on by Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) – who Tommy also had leverage over – he decided to take action. An altercation ensued and the following morning Joel woke to find Tommy dead on the floor beside him. Joel was jailed after he confessed to murdering Tommy (Picture: Lime Pictures) At first, he contemplated covering his tracks but ultimately he decided it was for the best to report himself to the police. Joel was subsequently seen in a police cell speaking with DI Banks (Drew Cain) following his arrest. According to The Sun, this showdown will serve as Rory's final scene as Joel, bringing to an end a nine year stint on the show. 'It was a tough decision for him to make to leave, but it's right for the character and for Rory himself,' a source told the publication. 'He's loved the last nine years and all that has come with Hollyoaks, but he really wants to spread his wings. Follow Metro Soaps on WhatsApp and get all the latest spoilers first! Bosses were very kind and the door has been left open for Joel to return one day so it's not goodbye by any means.' Rory has been one of Hollyoaks' biggest stars of the past decade, taking over the role of Joel from previous star Andrew Still, who went on to play Daisy's stalker Justin in Coronation Street. With Rory in the role, Joel featured in numerous long-running stories, which allowed for the star to deliver powerhouse performances aplenty. This past year in particular has been one of his strongest to date, with Joel's characterisation arguably at an all-time high since the Channel 4 soap's historic time jump. The devastating death of baby Noah and his much-loved relationship with Leela spring to mind as stories that truly left an impact on audiences. It's safe to say that Rory always understood the assignment and he will certainly be missed!
