British Israeli soldier killed in Gaza, reports say
He was named locally as 20-year-old Sergeant Yisrael Natan Rosenfeld from the city of Ra'anana.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said it is 'looking into reports that an IDF soldier who died in combat in Gaza is a British national'.
The IDF soldier, of the 601st Combat Engineering Battalion, was killed by an explosive device on Sunday, the Times of Israel reported.
The paper said Mr Rosenfeld moved to Israel from London with his family 11 years ago.
Israel has been operating in Gaza since the Hamas militant group's October 7 2023 attack on Israel.
More than 860 Israeli soldiers have been killed since the war began, including more than 400 during the fighting in Gaza.
US-led ceasefire efforts have repeatedly stalled.
The Israeli offensive has devastated Gaza and killed more than 56,000 people, according to Gaza's Health Ministry, a branch of the Hamas government.
The death toll is by far the highest in any round of Israeli-Palestinian fighting.

Police searching for Ayrshire teenage boy who vanished more than 24 hours ago
Brody Innes was last seen in Saltcoats at around 3.30pm yesterday, Sunday June 29. A missing Ayrshire teenager hasn't been seen by family members for more than 24 hours. Brody Innes, 14, was reported missing from his home in Saltcoats. He was last seen in the Adams Avenue area of the town at around 3.30pm yesterday, Sunday, June 30. Brody is described as white British, of slim build and with short, dyed, red/orange hair. He was last seen wearing a dark coloured hoodie, grey tracksuit bottoms and black trainers and police believe he may also be wearing a black NY baseball cap. Enquiries are underway to trace his whereabouts and police believe Brody may have access to a bus pass. He has also been known to frequent the Largs and Kilwinning areas recently. A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Officers from Ayrshire are seeking the assistance of the public to trace a 14-year-old male missing from Saltcoats, North Ayrshire. "Brody Innes was last seen by family members around 3.30pm on Sunday, June 29 near to Adams Avenue, Saltcoats. "Brody is described as white British, slim build, short dyed red/orange hair and was last seen wearing a dark coloured hoodie, grey tracksuit bottoms, black trainers and may also be wearing a black NY baseball cap. "Extensive enquiries are underway which have so far revealed that Brody may have access to a bus pass - and has recently been known to frequent the Largs and Kilwinning areas. Iran-linked hackers may target U.S. firms and critical infrastructure, U.S. government warns
June 30 (Reuters) - Iranian-affilited hackers may target U.S. companies and critical infrastructure operators, particularly defense organizations with holdings or relationships with Israeli research and defense firms, according to an advisory from U.S. government officials Monday. The FBI, National Security Agency, the Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3) and the Department of Homeland Security's civilian cybersecurity defense wing said in a statement, opens new tab issued alongside the advisory that while there are no indications of a coordinated Iranian-linked malicious cyber campaign so far, organizations should ensure their defenses are up to date. "Despite a declared ceasefire and ongoing negotiations towards a permanent solution, Iranian-affiliated cyber actors and hacktivist groups may still conduct malicious cyber activity," the agencies said in the advisory, opens new tab. Cybersecurity researchers and defenders in Israel and the U.S. have so far seen little Iranian-linked cyber activity of consequence in the wake of the war launched by Israel June 13, followed by U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities June 22. Iranian state-sponsored hackers are known to exploit existing vulnerabilities in unpatched or outdated software and compromise internet-connected accounts and devices that use default or weak passwords, as well as work with ransomware operators to encrypt, steal and leak sensitive information, the agencies said Monday.
