Yusuf / Cat Stevens Announces New Memoir Cat on the Road to Findout
The post Yusuf / Cat Stevens Announces New Memoir Cat on the Road to Findout appeared first on Consequence.
Yusuf / Cat Stevens has announced a new memoir titled Cat on the Road to Findout. The book is set to be published in the UK on September 18th via Constable, followed by its North American release on October 7th through Genesis Publications. Pre-orders are ongoing.
In a press release, Cat on the Road to Findout is described as 'a backstage pass to the mind of a man who has lived a thousand lives. From his folk troubadour beginnings, to the glamorous chaos of '60s pop stardom, to his '70s reign as a generational voice, his songs formed a musical odyssey that intricately recorded the journey to self-discovery. Then came his unexpected departure from superstardom, embracing Islam and leaving fans heartbroken.'
The memoir also promises to reveal the 'complexity and intellectual reasoning' behind his journey and life lessons for 'those seekers, dreamers, and believers, who still love and admire him.'
In the legendary singer-songwriter's own words, he has been on 'an amazing journey, which began in the narrow streets of London, and led me through the most iconic cities, to perform upon the great stage of Western culture, ascending the dizzying heights of wealth, recognition and artistic pinnacles; freely exploring vast ranges of religions and philosophies, wandering through churches, temples, all the way to the Holy abode in Jerusalem — ignoring myths and warnings — and crossing the foreboded, desert heartlands, to arrive at the House of One God in Abrahamic Arabia. What finally elevated my perspective was a luminous Book that perfectly alchemized my thoughts, beliefs, with human nature. It taught me Oneness, and my place and purpose within the universe.'
This isn't Stevens' first memoir; he released a shorter book titled Why I Still Carry A Guitar: The Spiritual Journey of Cat Stevens to Yusuf in 2014.
The artist's latest album, King of a Land, was released in 2023. Read his exclusive Origins breakdown of the project's single 'All Nights, All Days.'
This summer, Stevens will take the stage at London's Hyde Park for a major concert with Neil Young and Van Morrison on July 11th; get tickets here.
Stevens will also embark on a book tour later this year. Sign up for the artist pre-sale here for early access to tickets.

Adam Lippes Resort 2026: Elegant American Sportswear Gone Global
Adam Lippes admits he treads lightly on inspiration with his collections but a recent trip to Japan helped fuel his creative impulses. 'It is just a logical place where your mind is more open to absorbing the creativity that's around you, so then we try to mix that with what we're trying to say as a brand,' he said of the trip. The collection notes mused about Japan's blend of tradition and modernity, utility and decoration, and its ongoing dialogue with Western culture, particularly through Amekaji, or 'American Casual.' But casual means more that just elevated basics with Lippes' nuanced touch. His pieces are classic staples but imbued with incredible details and luxurious fabrications: Italian double-face satin, lacquered wools, brushed mohair, crinkled metallics. Amber Iman Brings 'Goddess' Alive on the Public Theater Stage Tailoring, his number-one category, is a strong point with jackets shown a bit longer with a nipped waist and slight shoulder pad. Pieces were lined in silk, a detail that underscores his point of difference in the market. 'We're the only U.S. brand to line in silk,' he said of the subtle and luxurious detail. Pair it with his crisp poplin shirting, fluid silk tops, and new 'second-skin' cashmere foundations with knits, and a customer can live in. Over a third of the fabrics were sourced from Japan, including a polished take on deep blue denim with a belted button down and supersized pant. The cultural exchange was seen throughout with balloon pants — a nod to Tokyo construction uniforms — or wrap shirts with yukata sleeves. A high V-neck gown was cut using a traditional Japanese pattern-making technique that shapes the body with a single seam. The country is more than just on his mood board, with plans to open three new points of sale in Japan the next year. The time has come for his 'elegant American sportswear' — already a hit at home — to make his mark internationally. Outside of Japan he shared that another 'yet to be named city' will house his first boutique abroad. He did give a clue, sharing that he's launched e-commerce platforms in the U.K. and Japan. Lippes is on the move, embarking on a fashion cultural exchange with room to grow. Questlove Pays Tribute to Sly Stone: 'Changes He Sparked While Here Will Echo Forever'
The post Questlove Pays Tribute to Sly Stone: 'Changes He Sparked While Here Will Echo Forever' appeared first on Consequence. Questlove has paid tribute to late funk pioneer Sly Stone. In an Instagram post, The Roots drummer and music historian reflected on the musician's legacy and vast accomplishments, while also sharing his personal experience working on the original documentary Sly Lives! (aka the Burden of Black Genius). 'Sly Stone, born Sylvester Stewart, left this earth today, but the changes he sparked while here will echo forever. From the moment his music reached me in the early 1970s, it became a part of my soul,' Questlove wrote. 'Sly was a giant — not just for his groundbreaking work with the Family Stone, but for the radical inclusivity and deep human truths he poured into every note. His songs weren't just about fighting injustice; they were about transforming the self to transform the world. He dared to be simple in the most complex ways — using childlike joy, wordless cries, and nursery rhyme cadences to express adult truths. His work looked straight at the brightest and darkest parts of life and demanded we do the same.' Questlove continued by acknowledging Stone's addiction battle and disappearance from the spotlight before stating that the artist 'lived long enough to outlast many of his disciples, to feel the ripples of his genius return through hip-hop samples, documentaries, and his memoir.' 'Still, none of that replaces the raw beauty of his original work,' Questlove added. 'As I reflect on his legacy, two lines haunt me: 'We deserve everything we get in this life' — a line from the Sly Lives! documentary that feels like both a warning and a manifestation — and, of course, the eternal cry of 'Everyday People': 'We got to live together!' Once idealistic, now I hear it as a command. Sly's music will likely speak to us even more now than it did then. Thank you, Sly. You will forever live.' Stone's death at the age of 82 was announced by his family earlier today, June 9th. It followed 'a prolonged battle' with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and 'other underlying health issues.' Brittany Renner confirms her divorce to Kevin Gates. ‘I followed my heart'
Brittany Renner said she followed her heart and is getting divorced. (Warning: The below link contains language some may find offensive.) In a recent radio interview with REAL 92.3 LA, the 33-year-old 'Basketball Wives' star revealed that she and her husband, rapper Kevin Gates, are officially going their separate ways. 'We got married April 6 and divorced May 28,' Renner said in the interview, which aired June 7. The social media star says the couple must now enter a 90-day waiting period. The waiting period, known as iddah in Islam, is meant to ensure that a woman is not pregnant. Renner converted to Islam in August 2024, per Complex. 'And then also in those 90 days it's for reconciliation, because Allah wants you to stay married,' Renner explained. 'During those 90 days, you are not to entertain anybody romantically.' Renner and Gates, who converted to Islam in 2016, went Instagram official in April, according to E! News. The couple sparked engagement rumors the following month after Renner appeared at the season 12 premiere of 'Basketball Wives,' which aired May 5, with a ring on her ring finger. Renner later referred to Gates as her husband in a since-deleted Instagram post May 4, per E! News. 'You don't fit on this show and that's why you're a fit for this show,' Brittany wrote in the caption. 'Last night at the #BasketballWives Season 12 premiere party with my huzband.' Renner says she's looking forward to a 'nice 90-day reset' With her 52-day marriage in the rear-view mirror, Renner says she now wants to focus on herself. 'I followed my heart,' she said in her interview with REAL 92.3 LA. 'And that's more than what most people can say in this world.' She goes on to add that she doesn't view the divorce as a bad situation and is ready to move on. 'I don't think anybody gets married to not stay married. So, I think my biggest thing for me is just a nice 90 day reset. Focusing on myself and pouring into myself,' she explained. She said 'what is meant to be is always gonna be.' The divorce comes roughly one month after Renner gushed about Gates in an interview with People. 'I'm with the person that I quite literally dreamed of,' she said in the interview, published May 5. 'And to be able to just wake up next to him and spend time with him, even to have him here behind me, it's like so surreal,' she added. 'He's just the most beautiful person inside and out that I've ever met.' At the time, Renner said that the couple weren't concerned about what the future holds. 'I think that's where people get a little lost,' she told People. 'Like, we gotta stay present and I feel like when we get too far ahead, we don't live in the now and have fun in the now and pour in each other into each other in the now,' she continued. The pair don't share any children together, but Renner does have a 4-year-old son, P.J. Washington III, with NBA player P.J. Washington.
