Celtic 'favourites to sign' Nygren in £1.7m transfer

The Danish SuperLiga club want to sell the 23-year-old attacker, who has just six months left on his contract, to avoid losing him for free. Nygren is believed to be close to choosing Celtic over RSC Anderlecht, FC Copenhagen, and several MLS clubs with the Scottish champions favourites to land a deal. Swedish media outlet Expressen said: "Celtic are currently favourites to sign Nygren and the parties are said to be close to an agreement. "There have also been reports of interest from RSC Anderlecht and FC Copenhagen, but as things stand right now, and as long as the situation doesn't change, Celtic are at the forefront of the process." The Scottish champions were allowed to speak to the Swedish international earlier this week and have agreed personal terms with him. Nygren is reportedly keen on a move to Scotland. He has been a key player for Nordsjælland, scoring 16 goals in all competitions this season. Nygren made his international debut for Sweden earlier this year and has already scored twice in four appearances for his country under Jon Dahl Tomasson. The deal is expected to be finalised soon.

Sir Chris Hoy competes in Le Mans race – 20 months after life-changing cancer diagnosis

SIR Chris Hoy competed in the Mustang Challenge Invitational at Le Mans, despite his stage four cancer diagnosis. The Scottish sporting legend was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer in 2023, but hasn't let the illness deter him from living life to the fullest. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Sir Chris Hoy and teammate Chris Harris 2 Action shot of Sir Chris' car He has previously competed in Le Mans proper in 2016, but wanted to show this year that his diagnosis doesn't define him. One of the ways he has done this is by taking part in an invitational race at the iconic event this weekend. Sir Chris said on Instagram: "What a few days at LeMans.. after my cancer diagnosis 20 months ago I never imagined I'd be back racing here again, so when the opportunity arose courtesy of Ford performance and Jay Ward to take part in the Mustang Challenge Invitational I grabbed it with both hands. "The circuit de la sarthe is a special place and the magic never fades, it really is a privilege to drive on this historic track. "As my team mate for the week Chris Harris said, you never turn down the chance to drive at LeMans. "Speaking of Chris Harris it was a blast to hang out, talk cars and learn from him, what a job he did in Race 2, P12 from 31st on the grid, making 11 places in lap one amidst the carnage and bringing the Tour de 4 liveried #77 home in style! "I managed P20 from the same grid position in race 1, very happy to have had some awesome battles throughout the 45 minute race and get a proper hit out after frustrations in qualifying. "Massive thanks to Academy Motorsport team for all their hard work and support, what a great bunch they are. "And finally, best of luck to all the drivers in the 24 heures du mans, I wish you a safe and successful race." The six-time gold medal winning star's car featured the 'Tour de four' logo, which is a charity bike ride the cycling hero has organised for later this year. Fernando Alonso drives to victory at the 24 hours of Le Mans in 2018 Hoy told TNT Sports before racing in France: "This is the Tour De Four, which is a mass participation charity bike ride which I'm organising in September, September 7th. "It's to try and raise £1million for cancer charities across the UK and also try and change perceptions of stage four cancer, because I was diagnosed with stage four cancer almost two years ago now and it shocked me, it rocked my world, it changed everything. "In one sentence you're told its not curable, but its treatable and suddenly you have this death sentence and it is terrifying but I'm here to show that life goes on for many people in that situation. "So the bike ride is to try and get as many people together as possible, not just people suffering with cancer, but anybody, to show that, you know, we can keep on living and make the most of every day and live in the present, because that's all any of us have." Joining the hardy band of climbers were four men who won titles galore at Rangers. Marvin Andrews, Lee McCulloch, Michael Mols and Kevin Thomson won a combined 29 trophies between them for the Light Blues. The quartet signed up to head up the mountain for the Rangers Charity Foundation, the Ibrox club's charitable arm. Those taking part posed for a group photo at the base of the hill, and video footage later captured fans' favourite Mols keeping the spirits high with a short rendition of Follow Follow. The weather for the hike was a classic Scottish mixture, with some rain, wind and clouds mixed in with a temperature of around 16 degrees. Each participant was asked to raise a minimum of £250 in sponsorship, which will go directly to the foundation. By completing the challenge fans will be invited to a special reception at Ibrox later this year to receive a medal from a current first team star. McCulloch and Thomson were two of the first to reach the top and they were quick to post some pictures from the summit. Ben Nevis is 1,345metres tall and is both the highest mountain in Scotland and the British Isles. Part of the Grampian mountain range, it takes around seven to eight hours to complete. £6m Rangers star Danilo spotted doing gruelling sessions on beach in Brazil as he gears up for make or break pre-season The group received several messages of support and congratulations via social media after scaling the summit. One fan said: "Well done folks." Another said: "Brilliant." And a third said: "Smashing." The Rangers Charity Foundation has recently worked with a number of charity organisations in and around Glasgow and across Scotland. A statement from the charity ahead of the climb said: "We are ready to trek to the highest point in the UK, the summit of Ben Nevis whilst raising vital funds for the Rangers Charity Foundation. "The Rangers Charity Foundation exists to be a force for good on behalf of the Rangers Family, showing compassion to those in need, tackling inequalities and creating opportunities for people of all ages to change their lives for the better. "All funds raised through Bears Up Ben Nevis will go towards our comprehensive range of programmes in the community, which reaches thousands of children and adults offering life-changing opportunities in education, health and wellbeing, employability and diversity and inclusion. "You will also be supporting our charity partners! Each season we work with charities to fund projects that have a lasting and significant impact locally, nationally and across the world. This season we are working with SAMH, Glasgow City Mission, Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity, Armed Forces and Veterans related charities. "We are also very proud of helping thousands of fundraisers support causes close to their hearts every season by making in-kind donations and we assist various community initiatives such as local food banks.
