India's active Covid case tally reaches 3,758, Kerala, Karnataka report 2 deaths
Covid-19 active cases in India have risen to over 3,700—marking the first significant surge in months—with more than 360 new infections reported in the past 24 hours, as per Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) data on Sunday, June 1.
As of Sunday, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Delhi have logged the most Covid-19 active cases at 1400, 485 and 436 respectively.
Meanwhile, the country also logged two Covid-19-related death in the 24-hour period, MoHFW data on Sunday showed.
Covid-19 active cases in India: As mentioned above in this report, India currently has a total of 3,758 active cases of Covid-19, with 363 fresh infections reported between Saturday and Sunday - May 31 and June 1.
Most cases in these states: Kerala tops the Covid tally chart with 1400 active cases, followed by Maharashtra (485 cases) and Delhi (436 cases). Kerala, Maharashtra and Delhi logged 64, 18 and 61 fresh cases, respectively, in the last 24 hours, as per MoHFW data.
Covid deaths in India: India also reported two Covid-19-related death - one each in Kerala and Karnataka - in the 24-hour period, MoHFW figures on Sunday showed. In Karnataka, a 63 year old man with Pulmonary TB, Squamous Cell Carcinoma of buccal mucosa and incidental Covid positive status died, while in Kerala, a 24-year-old woman with Covid-19 and Sepsis Hypertension, DCLD (Decompensated Chronic Liver Disease), succumbed to the disease, as per the health ministry.
Karnataka issues advisory: In the wake of recent increase in Covid-19 cases in the state, the Karnataka government on Saturday issued a public advisory, asking people to practice responsible behaviour by wearing masks in crowded places, maintaining physical distancing, and practicing good hygiene.
Covid death in Delhi: A 60-year-old woman who tested positive for Covid-19 died in Delhi, officials said on Saturday. This is the first fatality in Delhi amid the current surge in cases. "The woman was suffering from acute intestinal obstruction post-laparotomy. The Covid-19 finding was incidental," PTI news agency quoted an official.

14 of 18 fresh Covid cases in Haryana from Gurugram, Faridabad, Karnal
Fourteen of the 18 fresh Covid cases that Haryana reported on Monday were from Gurugram, Faridabad and Karnal districts, officials said. According to the state health department, Gurugram and Karnal reported five cases, followed by Faridabad (four), Ambala (two) and one each from Jhajjar and Sonepat. Karnataka reports 87 new Covid-19 cases, active cases rise to 311
Karnataka on Monday reported 87 fresh Covid-19 cases, bringing the state's active caseload to 311, according to the latest bulletin issued by the health department. The 24-hour test positivity rate stood at 17.2 per cent, with 504 tests conducted across the state, including 464 RT-PCR and 40 rapid antigen tests. While the spike may appear significant due to low testing volume, officials emphasized there is no need for public alarm. State Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao told PTI that while the current strain appears mild, the government is fully prepared to handle any potential escalation. But we are alert, and we have ensured that we are ready for any eventuality,' he said. The minister also stressed that preparedness does not mean panic and urged citizens to stay calm but cautious. Since January 1, four Covid patients with pre-existing comorbidities have died, as per the health department. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and advise people to follow standard health precautions, especially vulnerable individuals and those with underlying conditions. As schools across Karnataka prepare to reopen in June, the state government has issued a fresh set of Covid-19 safety guidelines aimed at protecting students, teachers, and staff amid a recent uptick in cases. The decision comes after a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on May 26, in response to rising infections reported across the state. The guidelines, applicable to both government and private institutions, stress early detection, isolation, and preventive care. Schools have been asked to remain vigilant and prioritize the health and safety of their communities. Children showing symptoms like fever, cough, or cold must not be sent to school and should seek immediate medical attention. Re-entry into school is allowed only after full recovery. Schools must monitor students daily and promptly send home any child who develops symptoms during school hours. Parents must be informed without delay if their child falls ill at school. The directive also applies to teachers and non-teaching staff, who are advised to stay home if they feel unwell. The health department emphasized that these measures are precautionary and urged all stakeholders to cooperate in maintaining a safe learning environment.
