King Charles' major cancer update as makes admission about his treatment

Daily Record16-05-2025

Charles spoke to a florist during his visit where he opened up about his cancer treatment.
King Charles has spoken out about his cancer journey and made a rare admission about his treatment. The King was visiting Bradford when he opened up about his diagnosis saying he would like to think he is on the "better side" of his cancer journey.
Charles' comments were made during a conversation with a former cancer patient as he travelled to the West Yorkshire city with Queen Camilla to celebrate its status as the UK's City of Culture, writes The Mirror. The King has been receiving ongoing treatment for about 15 months since he was diagnosed early last year.

Florist Safeena Khan chatted with Charles when he visited Impact Hub Yorkshire to meet local business owners supporting diverse communities in Bradford. Safeena handed the King a bouquet inspired by the garden of his Highgrove home, writes The Mirror.

After chatting to Charles, Ms Khan said: "He asked me how I was, and I asked him how he was. There was some pleasantries towards the end, but it was a lovely conversation."
The King receives regular treatment as an out-patient at the London Clinic, and the Bradford florist said he gave her the "thumbs up" when she asked about his health, and told her: "I'd like to think I'm on the better side (of my cancer journey)".
The King has ramped up his workload this year following positive progress with his cancer treatment, and that has continued despite the 'bump' of spending a short stay in hospital after experiencing temporary cancer treatment side effects in March.
Charles will be jetting to Canada for the opening of the Commonwealth country's parliament at the end of this month and, after a busy summer period, will be hosting a state visit by France's President Emmanuel Macron when the royal diary is normally winding down.

Earlier in the day, the King was left 'flabbergasted' by magician Steven Frayne, formerly known as Dynamo, when he turned a newspaper into £20 notes.
The magician impressed the King at the start of his tour of the Yorkshire city, where he recognised another famous son, painter David Hockney, while the Queen visited the nearby home of the Bronte sisters.
he King has had a tumultuous second year on the throne, having been diagnosed with cancer and undergoing ongoing treatment. His daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales, has also been battling the disease.
However, an insider revealed that Charles has faced the past year with a "determination to be as public as he was able", in order to reassure the nation about his capabilities. The King has also found strength in the support of Queen Camilla.
"Her natural warmth, resilience and sense of humour, as I'm sure any patient will tell you, is a wonderful thing to have," the source told the PA news agency. "Of course it's been a stressful year for Her Majesty, too, but there was never a sense of despondency, only a determination that they would get through this, as with so many other challenging issues in the past."

Emmerdale who helps Robert Sugden 'bring down' villain John 'confirmed'

Emmerdale star Mike Parr teased a possible teaming up twist for his character Ross Barton and Robert Sugden on the ITV soap, amd it might be bad news for killer john Sugden Two characters could team up to take down Emmerdale villain John Sugden, and one of them might be a little unexpected. Robert Sugden is hotly tipped to target his love rival and half-brother John, following John's wedding to his ex Aaron Dingle. Ryan Hawley reprised his role in a major twist six years after he left the show in a recent episode. ‌ Robert is soon returning full-time, and fans are so ready for him to possibly uncover the truth about John's crimes, including the murder of Nate Robinson. But will another character team up with Robert and help him target John in a twist? ‌ One cast member certainly thinks it would be a good twist when we quizzed them about the possibility of it happening. Mike Parr, who plays Ross Barton, spoke exclusively to The Mirror at the British Soap Awards. He teased Ross could tease up with Robert in a separate plot, to possibly pave the way for the return of Robert's son and Ross' stepson Seb. But we took the moment to see how far Ross and Robert teaming up could go, and whether it could lead to the characters trying to bring down killer John. We asked about whether Ross might help Robert to get John, and he said: "Ooh yeah that would be good! If they can take him out to stop him taking other people out. John is always there at the right time, no one's noticed that yet." With Ross actor Mike keen to see the pair join forces, could it lead to a twist with John? As for the plot with Seb, Mike shared: "That was my first question. "I thought surely either we are gonna be fighting over this kid or we will try to get him back. I don't know which I would rather, I mean I tried to shoot him, he stole my weed the last time he was there. ‌ "They are always fighting but they might be a good team to work together, and maybe it would be good if they did join forces." Mike also addressed the return of Robert, saying it was exciting for the fans. He shared: "When you get a character who you maybe haven't always been involved with but you know it's gonna be a huge positive for the show, it's going to be huge. For the audience it's so important, and it's someone they're loud over. "I knew that they would be over the moon and I'm so happy for them." Viewers are hoping for a Robron reunion for Robert and Aaron now that they are both back in the village. It's not just viewers though, with stars Natalie J Robb and Bradley Riches clearly backing the reunion too. They told us at the awards: "Hashtag Robron!"

Coronation Street actor says 'miss you so much' after star's 'really sad' exit

Sue Cleaver leaves Coronation Street as Eileen Grimshaw after more than 20 years on the ITV soap on Friday, and Todd Grimshaw actor Gareth Pierce has spoken out There's a heartbreaking exit for some on Coronation Street on Friday night, as Sue Cleaver's character Eileen Grimshaw bows out after more then 20 years. Eileen leaves the ITV soap, leaving behind her son Todd Grimshaw, as she moves away and starts a new life away from the Cobbles. Eileen debuted back in 2000, and 25 years on actress Sue has decided to pursue other opportunities. ‌ Speaking exclusively to The Mirror at the British Soap Awards, Todd actor Gareth Pierce shared he was "really sad" to see his co-star leave. While he said it may be a good thing onscreen for his character Todd to stand on his own two feet, on a personal level the actor is gutted about the departure. ‌ He explained: "I am really sad on a personal note. Sue is wonderful. It's wax lyrical how she made me feel instantly welcome, she made me feel respected instantly, even from the initial screen test. That mother son love was very natural to us." Gareth went on: "It is a testament to Sue and her generosity, I'll miss her so much as an actor. For Toss there's a sense of he's needed to grow up or a while. "He is still living at home with his mum. I think maybe he needs to see who he is without his mum there. They are so alike and both so stubborn. They love each other dearly and also bash into each other constantly, so it will be interesting to see how her absence and Todd being without her will play out on screen." Sue announced her exit from the show earlier this year, having told bosses she was quitting in 2024. She'd thought about it previosuly, but now she's ready to try new adventures and roles. Speaking about the exit, Sue revealed of her final scenes: "I said very much that I would like her to go off to pastures new, you know, to kind of mirror what I'm doing in a sense. And I just think it's time for a change. So it was perfect. ‌ "I'm so happy with the ending, and I was so humbled by it and the way it had been written and what it is. I felt very grateful to have such a wonderful ending written. It seemed very, very apt." As soon as she knew she was leaving, she wanted co-star Ryan Thomas, who plays son Jason, to be there for the episodes. She shared: "Ryan was there from the start, and he was inconveniently living in Thailand, and it wouldn't be too far of a jump to expect that if Eileen was going to make a leap, that she would involve her son. "And so when I decided to leave, like over a year ago, I rang Ryan, and I said, 'Ryan, I'm going to tell them that I'm going, and if they ask me about exits, I'd really like to say that you'd come back and take me out, but I don't know whether they'd go for it or not'. "And he just went, 'Oh my gosh, of course, I would', which was so lovely for me. And it was just so nice to have him back and filming those final scenes with him. It just felt like I'd come full circle really."

Emmerdale star confirms fan favourite's return after months off-screen

A FAN favourite on Emmerdale is making a long-anticipated return. Dylan Penders, played by Fred Kettle, will be returning to ITV screens soon after months off the show. 5 5 5 The character was first introduced to Emmerdale viewers earlier this year when he befriended April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan), during her stint being unhoused and living on the streets. Despite caring for April and becoming good friends, her dad Marlon Dingle, was not a fan on Dylan and resorted to planting drugs on Dylan in a desperate bid to force him out of April's life. But his plan backfired dramatically when Dylan ended up overdosing and left to attend rehab. Emmerdale producers revealed earlier this month that Dylan would be returning to the village, but Amelia, who plays April on the soap gave a hint when exactly fans can expect to see him again. "April has had an incredibly tough year with what she has been through, with the pregnancy and the homelessness storyline," she told Mirror Online. "April and Dylan didn't leave things on the best terms, but I think what is important now is that he's back." Amelia added: "Who knows what will happen. It will be great to explore that relationship further, I think fans want to see that which is great." It's been a big week for Amelia who took out the gong for Best Young Performer at Thursday's British Soap Awards. She managed to win the prize ahead of her brother William Flanagan, who was nominated for playing Joseph Brown on Coronation Street. Emmerdale boss Laura Shaw confirmed Dylan's return earlier this month. Emmerdale's Marlon visits Dylan in hospital after he takes an overdose "Lovely Fred Kettle, who plays Dylan, is coming back to the show," she told media. "He's going to be bringing his past back to the village with him. And that's going to cause huge problems for April and the wider family there." Laura added: "We've got a couple of exciting new castings that are joining us for that story, but I'm not allowed to tell you who they are. Watch this space, because it's very exciting." 5 5
