Putrajaya, Selangor delineation to be finalised by year end

SHAH ALAM: The delineation exercise between Putrajaya and Selangor is nearly completed and is expected to be finalised by the end of this year, said Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
"So far, the delineation process in Putrajaya is nearly completed (involving) areas such as Sepang and Kuala Langat, while areas (near) Kuala Lumpur like Ampang, Petaling Jaya and Subang will take a little more time because it involves more a complex delineation exercise," he said after officiating the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) Teacher's Day celebration here today.
He was commenting on a meeting between a delegation led by him and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa at Menara Seri Wilayah, Putrajaya yesterday.
At the meeting, Dr Zaliha raised the issue of resolving the delineation between Kuala Lumpur and Selangor as well as Putrajaya and Selangor to ensure a more integrated border enforcement could be carried out.
Amirudin said that at the meeting, the Selangor government requested that 10 per cent of an Islamic cemetery land area in Hulu Semenyih, Selangor, which is owned by the Federal Lands Commissioner (PTP), be opened up for local residents who wish to be buried there.
He hopes that this effort will resolve cemetery land management issues under the administration of the Federal Government but located near Selangor residential areas.
Yesterday, Dr Zaliha said the opening of a new Islamic cemetery in Hulu Semenyih could meet the need for Muslim cemeteries in Kuala Lumpur for another 28 years.
Meanwhile, Amirudin said the proposal to raise the mandatory retirement age from 60 to 65 is still at the preliminary stage, adding that the matter needs to be further scrutinised.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said had previously proposed that the government consider raising the mandatory retirement age from 60 to 65.

Dutch PM Schoof resigns, hours after Wilders exits coalition

THE HAGUE: Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said he would resign on Tuesday, just hours after anti-Muslim populist Geert Wilders pulled his PVV party out of the right-wing coalition, in a move that is likely to trigger snap elections. Ministers from Wilders' PVV party will leave the cabinet, while the remaining ministers will continue for now in a caretaker government. Any election will likely not be held before October, and the formation of a new government traditionally tends to take months in the fractured Dutch political landscape. This comes as the hard right is growing in Europe, with anger over migration and the cost of living at risk of eroding Europe's unity over how to deal with Russia and with U.S. President Donald Trump. Wilders said earlier on Tuesday that his party was pulling out because the other three coalition partners were not willing to support his ideas on asylum and immigration. 'No signature under our asylum plans. The PVV leaves the coalition,' Wilders said in a post on X. The others parties in the coalition now have the option to try and proceed as a minority government, though they are not expected to. Opposition parties on Tuesday called for new elections.

(Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : The government plans to build a 41ha 'Madani City' in Putrajaya, with the groundbreaking ceremony set for June 26. Federal territories minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the township will be a strategic long-term development for Putrajaya and will come with 10,000 residential units to house 30,000 people. She said its design would integrate artificial intelligence, high-efficiency digital infrastructure and a green mobility system. 'This is the foundation for a low-carbon city that upholds the principles of sustainability, welfare and public safety,' she said in a Facebook post. Zaliha presented the township's concept to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today, adding that it was in line with the government's vision of making the three federal territories clean, healthy, advanced, safe and eco-friendly, or 'CHASE cities'. Separately, Anwar said the 'Madani City' concept stresses on providing centralised and holistic basic facilities that would ensure the people's welfare. He said among the facilities being planned are a secondary school, a technical and vocational education and training institution, banks, a government clinic and a mosque. 'The first phase will involve the construction of around 3,000 residential units and a vertical school, and is expected to be completed and operational by the end of 2027,' said the prime minister.

Kota Madani project expected to be completed by end-2027, says PM

KUALA LUMPUR: Kota Madani, slated for completion by 2027, aims to provide integrated and centralised basic facilities to support community welfare, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today. During the presentation session, Anwar said that among the planned developments included vertical schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. He added that financial institutions, health clinics, fire stations, police stations and mosques would also be built near the residential areas. "The first phase involves the construction of around 3,000 residential units and a vertical school, expected to be completed and fully operational by the end of 2027. "The design of the mosque and school will feature local cultural elements, in line with efforts to preserve architecture and heritage. "I hope the plans proceed smoothly and can be implemented effectively for the benefit of the community," he said through an entry on X, today. Meanwhile, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, through a separate post on X said that the Kota Madani project, covering 41.28 hectares, would provide 10,000 residential units to accommodate over 30,000 residents. The development will adopt a high-density vertical design. She said the city would integrate artificial intelligence (AI) technology, advanced digital infrastructure, and green mobility systems, forming the foundation for a low-carbon, sustainable and safe urban environment. "This is a long-term strategic investment to shape Putrajaya as a model city that reflects Madani values and aligns with the vision of Bandar Chase," she said. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 26.
