Clayton Keller Named NHLPA Player of The Week

Coming off a career-high 5-point performance in Utah's dominant 6-1 win over Minnesota, Clayton Keller has been named the NHLPA Player of the Week.

Along with having a career-high outing against the Wild, Keller has a great stretch ever since coming back from the 4-Nations break.
In the four games since coming back, Keller has totaled 9 total points with two goals and seven assists across four games. Utah has gone 3-1 in those games with its only loss coming against the LA Kings on the road.
Not only does Keller's 9 points over the last four game lead the team, but it also is the highest total in all of the NHL.
There is no sign of Keller slowing down either, especially as it fights for the final Wild Card spot in the Western conference. So, if anything, Keller is likely to keep getting points and adding to this already impressive stretch.
Along with that, there is also a chance for Utah to finish its homestretch 4-0 if it can win its upcoming game against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, March. 1. So expect Keller to keep up his impressive play against the Devils.

Packers: Picking most undesirable landing spot for released CB Jaire Alexander

Packers: Picking most undesirable landing spot for released CB Jaire Alexander The Green Bay Packers released two-time Pro Bowler and two-time second-team All-Pro Jaire Alexander on Monday, ending a seven-year relationship between player and team and allowing the veteran cornerback to pick his next team as a free agent. The Packers freely admit Alexander is a great player when available, but injuries and missed time -- combined with his contract over the next two seasons -- were the primary reasons why he's no longer in Green Bay. The next question: Where will Alexander land? While his injury history is a concern, Alexander is still a 28-year-old player with a decorated history of elite play at a premium position, and several teams should be interested. A trade was preferred by the Packers both for compensation in return and deciding Alexander's next team. Now, the player will get a chance to pick where he goes, and it's possible Alexander will land with a division or conference rival. What would be the most undesirable landing spot for Alexander from the Packers point of view? Here are our picks: Zach Kruse: Minnesota Vikings The Vikings have won three of the last four games against the Packers, are coming off a 14-win season and possess one of the most talented and experienced rosters in football around first-year starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy. Adding Alexander -- another former Packer -- would give defensive coordinator Brian Flores a potential lockdown corner and more freedom to call more of his exotic and chaotic blitzes. No one in Green Bay wants Aaron Jones and Alexander on the same roster just across state lines. The Packers will hope Alexander gets out of the NFC North and out of the conference entirely. Brandon Carwile: Philadelphia Eagles Any NFC North team is a good answer, but the Philadelphia Eagles are also an annoying possibility. After parting ways with Darius Slay this offseason, the Eagles might be looking to add a veteran to shore up their young cornerback room. Alexander joining forces with the defending Super Bowl champs, who happened to beat the Packers in Week 1 and then ended their season in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, would be a gut punch. However, it's exactly the kind of move general manager Howie Roseman is known for making. Brennen Rupp: Minnesota Vikings Jaire Alexander was a fan favorite for a lot of Green Bay fans. When he was healthy (2022) he was one of the best cornerbacks in the league. Since that season he played in just 14 games and the Packers needed to cut ties. I don't have a lot of faith that he'll be able to stay on the field for whatever team lands him, but it would be difficult to watch him stay healthy and put together an All-Pro caliber season for a division rival that has a need for a player like Alexander. Mark Oldacres: Detroit Lions Alexander joining any NFC North rival, as spurned Packers tend to do, would be the worst-case scenario, but the Lions in particular would be the most irritating. The division champions the last two years have encountered some adversity this offseason, losing both coordinators. Top spot in the North looks to be there for the taking in 2025, but adding Alexander could help the Lions hold onto their crown.

Red Sox Projected to Trade $38.5 Million All-Star Pitcher After Kristian Campbell News

Red Sox Projected to Trade $38.5 Million All-Star Pitcher After Kristian Campbell News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Any games featuring Boston Red Sox teammates Kristian Campbell and Lucas Giolito, at least in the short term, will feature Campbell at second base and Giolito on the mound. Advertisement Whether or not that partnership will continue past the trade deadline, though, remains to be seen. Although Campbell's future in Boston is safe given his top prospect status, Giolito is a pending free agent on a team potentially destined for a fourth losing season in six years. Could, and would, the 29-33 Red Sox wave the white flag and fully pivot to a Campbell-led future? If so, Bleacher Report's Zachary Rymer won't be surprised to see Boston trade Giolito ahead of the July 31 deadline. Giolito, who turns 31 next month, owns a 4.78 ERA and 26-10 K-BB ratio over 32 innings. He's a long way removed from the young pitcher who earned All-Star honors with the Chicago White Sox in 2019, and it's been four years since his last above-average season. Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Lucas GiolitoDale Zanine-Imagn Images "He's at least an innings-eater," Rymer argued, "and it probably wouldn't be hard to get Boston to eat some of his $19 million salary." Advertisement Indeed, Giolito is in the final year of a two-year, $38.5 million contract. The Red Sox (or whoever holds his rights come the offseason) also have a $14 million club option if he throws fewer than 140 innings. However, that becomes a $19 million mutual option if he hits that innings mark. Giolito signed that contract before missing all of last year with right elbow surgery. The inconsistent Red Sox are already making significant moves, announcing Monday that Campbell won't receive reps at first base after all. Instead, manager Alex Cora made it clear they're keeping Campbell at second. Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow notably backed Cora over the weekend amid repeated calls for a managerial change. Advertisement Time is running out for Campbell, Giolito, and the Red Sox to right the ship. Boston enters Tuesday trailing by nine games in the AL East, and the Red Sox are 4.5 games out of the AL's third and final Wild Card spot. 1 trade Boston Red Sox must avoid making before 2025 deadline

The post 1 trade Boston Red Sox must avoid making before 2025 deadline appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Boston Red Sox are four games under .500, and they sit 9.0 games back in the American League East division. However, the Red Sox are just 4.5 games back in the Wild Card race. There is still plenty of time for Boston to make some noise with the Summer just getting started. The one problem for the Red Sox right now is they are without one of their best hitters, Alex Bregman. Bregman suffered a strained quad, and he has been out for quite some time. The bad news for Boston is Bregman is still a long time away from returning to the diamond. However, the Red Sox did promote top prospect Roman Anthony, and prospect Marcelo Meyer has not been play too bad. Boston will need some other players to step up a little bit more, especially on the mound. With that in mind, there is no need for the team to panic heading into the dog days of the season. The Red Sox do not need to necessarily become buyers at the deadline, but they should definitely not be sellers. In fact, there is one player that has been thrown around in trade conversations recently that Boston needs to hang on to. As mentioned, the Red Sox are not out of the playoff picture just yet. There have been plenty of teams in history to start a season under .500 and still make the postseason. Just last year, the Detroit Tigers started the year 37-44 through their first 81 games. When the Washington Nationals won the World Series in 2019, they started the season off 19-31. The Tigers fell short last year, but making the playoffs should be the goal for Boston. Once the postseason starts, anything can happen. In order for the Red Sox to get to the postseason, they need their pitchers to get better. On the season, Boston's starting pitchers have the fifth-highest ERA (4.59), sixth-highest WHIP (1.41), and the third-highest batting average against (.271). The starting pitching has been the biggest problem for the team, and it needs to be addressed. If the Red Sox can fix their problems on the mound, there is a chance for them to make the playoffs in 2025. Jarren Duran is slashing .271/.324/.421 with four home runs, 37 RBI, 37 runs scored, and 79 total hits in 67 games played. The left fielder has been great for the Red Sox this year, and he still has four years of team control. If a team were to trade for Duran, Boston would get a fantastic return. They would be able to rebuild their pitching staff, or get a couple more top prospect hitters. However, that would not be the smart move for the Major League team or the organization. The Red Sox need to hang on to their star left fielder. He is the future in the outfield for Boston, and has the potential to be a building block for the Red Sox to get back to the Fall Classic. The team has to find a way to keep competing with the New York Yankees and the rest of the division. Duran is going to be a big part of that. If Boston needs to trade some players this season, there are plenty of options. Jarren Duran should not be one of those options.
