The semiconductor unit is being set up at Jagiroad in Morigaon district.
The accused had collected lakhs of rupees from aspirants with the promise of providing jobs in the unit, a police officer said.

"The scam involved creating fake WhatsApp groups and promising lucrative jobs to unemployed youths in Nagaon and Morigaon districts," the police officer said.
Led by alleged mastermind Tarikul Ahmed, who posed as an engineer at the semiconductor unit, they offered fake job opportunities to hundreds of youths, the officer said.

"They collected lakhs of rupees from the victims, promising them jobs in the project. The scammers even created fake appointment letters, interview letters and other documents to deceive the victims," the police officer said.

at a college in Nagaon district and three others were apprehended, the officer said.
A police investigation revealed that large sums of money got deposited in Islam's account.
The police have appealed to the public to be cautious, verify the authenticity of job offers and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

SI Prawesh Rawat, who is investigating the case, said, "Based on a complaint lodged by Himanshu Chowdhary, a case has been registered against five unidentified acused, who were travelling in the SUV, under BNS sections, including 126(2) (wrongful restraint) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation)." Chowdhary said in his complaint that on the night of May 30, he was heading to a shopping mall around 9 pm with his wife and kids, when he decided to overtake the SUV ahead of them as it was moving slowly in the middle of the road. In a purported video of the incident, the accused were seen getting out of their SUV and banging on Chowdhary's car, demanding that he step out of the vehicle, even as his two children aged 3 and 8 were heard crying. Rourkela: Cyber police arrested two employees of a local IT-enabled services company on Friday night for allegedly defrauding their German client of around Rs 10 lakh through unauthorised manipulation of travel vouchers. They have been identified as Goutam Kumar Marndi (23) and Pitamber Hembram (24), both residents of Sector-19 here. The accused, whose employer provided customer support services to the German firm, allegedly created unauthorised tickets using travel vouchers meant for compensating customers with cancelled bookings. "The accused exploited their legitimate access to German company's online portal to create unauthorized tickets, which they sold at 40% discount through WhatsApp and Telegram channels," said Serofina Xess, IIC, Cyber police station, Rourkela. Investigation revealed that Marndi and Hembram collaborated with external parties to sell these discounted tickets, causing significant financial loss to German company, which operates in over 43 countries. The fraud came to light on May 2, 2025, when the company discovered unauthorised leakage and misuse of these voucher codes. Police found multiple WhatsApp accounts linked to the fraud on the accused's mobile phones.

Devotes offered prayers and greeted each other. Inspector general (operations) Michael Raj said, "No untoward incident has been reported so far." In Ranchi, magistrates, along with police, were stationed around 120 places. The movement of vehicles on roads leading to religious places was regulated. Officials kept tabs on religious places with CCTV cameras. Social media platforms were also under lens to prevent anti-social elements from disrupting social harmony. SDO Utkarsh Kumar said, "The dministration had taken all steps to ensure law and order. People from different communities also helped the administration." In Bokaro, DC Ajaynath Jha and SP Harvinder Singh remained vigilant throughout the day. A team monitored social media platforms. Dhanbad SSP Prabhat Kumar urged public, especially social media users, to refrain from sharing fake news, provocative content, or hate speech. "Police are keeping a watch on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and WhatsApp. Any individual found circulating rumours or communal content will face strict legal action," he added. Hazaribag additional SP cum DSP (Headquarters). Amit Kumar Anand said, "No untoward incident was reported from any corner of the district. Proper security arrangements were in place at all mosques."
