Premier League announces the season has officially started as fans say ‘nice to see Man Utd climb up the table'

Now top-flight chiefs have accidentally gifted fans another contender. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Apart from the boost of Bruno Fernandes staying, Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim might also have another reason to smile! Credit: Getty 2 Tottenham and Man Utd came in for some trolling, while Arsenal were also at the centre of some amused comments Incredibly, Prem bosses say the 2025-26 season has "officially started" - because it's held its AGM and issued shares to the three promoted clubs. And to honour the occasion, they issued the first league table. It is of course just a guide from top to bottom in alphabetical order. But observers pounced on the fact it means a mighty rise for Manchester United - from finishing 15th in 2024-25 to 14th place in the new one. The Red Devils barely knew their ABC when it came to scoring goals last season - netting only 44 times in 38 Prem games. But the first table of the upcoming campaign is only interested in your first letter. So despite their M-barrassing 2024-25 season, United have gone up a spot without kicking a ball! Fans also had fun with Tottenham now being in the drop zone - just one place lower than they ended up last month. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK At the other end of the table, Arsenal winning the alphabet cup also attracted amused comments. However, it was the Red Devils who were clear winners of the supporters' trolling league. Middlesbrough fans will agree with Carrick sacking and there's a perfect man ready to replace him MAN UTD TRANSFER NEWS LIVE: All the latest deals and rumours from Old Trafford One fan posted: "Nice to see Man Utd climb up the table." Another added: "United made some great progress." But after the major boost of seeing star midfielder Bruno Fernandes snub a £200million Al-Hillal move, maybe Old Trafford boss Ruben Amorim should see the table as another tonic! Meanwhile, Spurs finished 2024-25 fourth bottom - two places below United - but are in the Champions League after beating the Red Devils 1-0 in the Europa League final. And many fans noted the plight of the two clubs. One said: " Tottenham and Man U will never leave that spot." Another predicted: "Spurs gonna get relegated and then win the Champions League." Plenty of supporters also mocked the alphabet-leading Gunners. Emirates boss Mikel Arteta hopes recruiting a new A-list striker can finally transform his 2024-25 runners-up into champions. And although some fans reckon the title is possible, many responded to the fledgling 2025-26 table with taunts like: "The only time we get to see Arsenal at Top."
