Gordon Ramsay says there's one dish you should never order in a restaurant

Falling for the "dish of the day" at your favourite eatery might seem appealing due to its usually tempting presentation and exclusive vibes. A marketing and psychology expert has, however, warned customers to be wary through a TikTok revelation.
These enticing offers might not actually hold the value we presume they do. Marketing guru Basia spilled on TikTok that these so-called "specials" are often nothing more than clever strategies to shift ingredients nearing their shelf life.
For example, chefs may find themselves with an excess of steak close to expiration and decide to craft a novel dish to use it up wisely.
Basia shed light on the trickery, saying: "The daily special written in chalk? It's been 'today's special' for three weeks. But your brain sees handwriting and thinks: limited, fresh, rare."
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, boasting Michelin stars, also sides with this cautionary stance. He warns his fans against opting for soup specials which could just be a smorgasbord of whatever's left over, reports the Mirror.
In a session with Town and Country, he advised discerning food lovers: "Ask what yesterday's soup du jour was before today's special. It may be the case that it's the soup du month."
Anthony Bourdain, the culinary legend behind Kitchen Confidential, also had words of advice about ordering fish on Mondays. Such a fishy deal could suggest it's a leftover from Friday, waiting to be sold off as the week begins.
It appears that ordering fish on Mondays might not be the freshest choice, given many fish markets are closed on weekends.
In a viral clip, Basia spills the beans on the sneaky methods restaurants employ to make you spend more.
1. The "anchoring effect" plays with customer's minds by setting high prices for some items so others appear to be a bargain, as noted by Basia: "It's to make others look like a deal."
2. It's no coincidence the tip jar looks used; Basia explained that it's a ploy to encourage you to follow suit: "They put cash in the tip jar before you even show up. So when you see it, your brain goes: 'Oh... tipping is what people do here."
3. That awkward moment when asked about water - still or sparkling?
As Basia revealed, it's a subtle nudge towards spending: "[It's] not 'would you like water?' It skips the choice of whether, and jumps to which."
4. Currency symbols missing on a menu isn't an oversight.
Basia uncovered why seeing '€24' strikes differently than just '24', stating: "Because '€24' screams money. But '24' just looks like a number."

Next's €54 summer dress is so perfect shoppers 'wish it came in more colours'

Next customers are raving about a 'gorgeous' summer dress they're keen to snap up in several different colours. Priced at €54 and sold online, the Jersey Waisted Summer Dress comes in an array of colours such as cream, navy, chocolate brown, and olive green. It also accommodates a broad range of sizes from 6 to 22 and offers a petite option for those who need it. Next have labelled this breezy number as "ideal for summer", perfect for both "beachside cocktails or picnics in the park". They've highlighted its "versatile and timeless" style which includes a "flattering" neckline, waist details and practical side pockets. The stylish Next dress has proven to be a hit with many shoppers. The high street retailer says that it can be effortlessly "dressed up with sandals and heels or down with your favourite trainers", depending on the vibe you're after, as reported by the Mirror. Customers are heaping praise on the item, as one shopper gushed: "Gorgeous fit and style with quality fabric and a silky, cotton texture. It's not see-through and has pockets. I love this dress so much, I've bought it in the two other colours too." Another chimed in, saying: "Lovely dress and so comfortable to wear." And a third added: "Looks so simple but looks and fits amazingly." Another comment came from a happy buyer read: "Excellent product, fits well. The material is soft and washes and irons easily. I have bought both navy and cream. I wish they did more colours." The retailer has noted a disclaimer on their website alerting shoppers that "this product has a smaller fit than usual", possibly explaining why some customers felt the need to opt for a larger size. Criticism hasn't gone unnoticed though, with one customer stating: "The material was completely see-through and the top was very tight. Item was returned." Nonetheless, glowing reviews dominated the feedback. A fifth fan left a five-star rating, highlighting: "A flattering fit, high waistline, smooth fabric feel, and so easy to wear in warmer nights yet also cooler evenings due to the length. Perfect paired with flats or a wedge."

According to the company's site, it is jam-packed with collagen, biotin, and keratin, which support cell growth, strengthen hair, and provide moisture to help maintain hair length. While many say it helps grow hair quickly (with some stating three inches of growth in just one month,) there might be something else at play. The hair range was originally created for horses, and was developed to repair split ends and prevent breakage. Advertisement So, the quick hair growth people rave about might be from less breakage at the ends, rather than new hair coming from the root. Because the shampoo has added keratin, it's best to use it every other hair wash day rather than all the time. While keratin can make hair stronger, too much of it can make it brittle and more likely to snap off. How to make your hair look thicker Fake thicker hair with these bulk-up tips from Trichologist Simone Thomas. 1. Try dry shampoo 'It doesn't just make your hair look cleaner but thicker too,' says Simone. 'It leaves behind an invisible residue that makes your hair smoother, thicker and easier to style.' 2. Switch your parting 'Flipping it over to the opposite side of where it usually sits will give an instant volume boost,' she says. 3. Go for Balayage 'It adds dimension, resulting in fuller looking hair,' explains Simone. 'Leave the roots dark and the ends lighter and your hair will look thicker at the top.' Remember to nourish the hair with a weekly hair mask to fight off colour damage.
