Grenade attack on police post in SBS Nagar: NIA chargesheet against 3

National Investigation Agency
(NIA) has chargesheeted three accused in the 2024 case relating to a grenade attack on a police post in Punjab's SBS Nagar (Nawanshahr) district.
The incident has been traced to the banned terror outfit, Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF), the NIA said Sunday.
"Yugpreet Singh, also known as Yuvi Nihang; Jaskaran Singh alias Shah; and Harjot Singh alias Jot Hundal, all hailing from Rahon village in SBS Nagar, have been charged under various sections of the UAPA, Explosive Substances Act, and other related provisions," said the NIA.
"The NIA has also launched investigations against the KZF chief and designated individual terrorist, Ranjit Singh, also known as Neeta; the outfit's member operative Jagjit Singh Lahiri alias Jagga alias Jagga Miapur alias Hari Singh, currently in the UK; and other unidentified terror operatives," the NIA added.
"The NIA, which took over the case from the Punjab Police in March this year, found that Jagga recruited Yugpreet Singh through an acquaintance in the UK. Along with other KZF terrorists and operatives, Jagga radicalised Yugpreet and handled him via encrypted messaging applications. Jagga also provided Yugpreet with over Rs 4.36 lakh of terror funds through a complex chain of Canada-based entities, who have also been identified and examined," the agency added.

"Yugpreet, in turn, recruited the other two chargesheeted accused, and the trio carried out the attack on police post Asron during the intervening night of Dec 1 and 2, 2024. The three accused were provided the grenade by their foreign-based handlers in Nov 2024," said the NIA.
"The NIA is continuing with its investigation in the case as part of its efforts to destroy the KZF's attempts to carry out terror attacks on law enforcement establishments and sensitive installations, as well as targeted killings in the state of Punjab," the probe agency added.

'The 'ultimate beneficial owners' of this fund are linked to Amicorp, which is believed to have set up at least seven Adani promoter entities, seventeen offshore shell companies linked to Mr. Vinod Adani, and three Mauritius-based offshore investors in Adani Group stock,' Ramesh said in his post on X. All these transactions are part of the ongoing SEBI investigations which have been hampered by lack of sharing of financial information by these and other tax-haven countries and lack of pressure by India, Ramesh alleged. There was no immediate reaction from the Adani Group on the claims but it has denied all such allegations made by the Congress and other entities. The Congress has been persistent in its attack on the government since the Adani Group stocks took a beating on the bourses in the wake of US-based short-selling firm Hindenburg Research making a litany of allegations, including fraudulent transactions and share-price manipulation, on the conglomerate headed by industrialist Gautam Adani. The Adani Group has dismissed all the charges made by the Congress and others as lies, saying it complies with all laws and disclosure requirements. Noting that Cyprus gained independence from British rule on Aug 16, 1960, Ramesh also said that in the 1950s, India spearheaded the international campaign for the full decolonisation of the island. In the context of today's geopolitics it is worthwhile to recall that India's championing of the independence of Cyprus in the 1950s and thereafter became a sore point in our bilateral relations with Turkey, he said.

GST dept busts Rs 14 crore refund fraud, Rs 1.16 crore retrieved from Delhi firm
NEW DELHI: The Department of Trade and Taxes, Government of Delhi, has uncovered a major case of Goods and Services Tax (GST) refund fraud amounting to nearly Rs 14 crore. The investigation revealed a network of individuals who created and operated four fictitious firms solely to illegitimately claim GST refunds under the guise of genuine business activities. This case marks a first-of-its-kind operation by the Department, where cutting-edge big data analytics and detailed chain analysis—including scrutiny of banking transactions—were employed to trace the flow of funds across multiple entities located in Delhi, other states, and international jurisdictions such as Hong Kong and Singapore. The Department's data-driven investigation identified multiple entities using the same PAN, mobile numbers, and email addresses as those used by the fraudulent firms. As an immediate enforcement measure, the registration of the Delhi-based entities has been suspended.
