French restaurateur ‘admits chopping up and COOKING murder victim' after cops make horror discovery
A FRENCH restaurant owner has admitted murdering a villager, chopping him up and cooking him with vegetables.
Pizza makers Philippe Schneider, 69, and Nathalie Caboubassy, 45, are on trial in Aveyron for the 2023 murder of Georges Meichler - a resident of their sleepy southern French village, Brasc.

Schneider reportedly made the "horrific confession" to police after being tracked down following a missing persons report filed by the victim's daughter.
He is said to have told officers the pair accidentally killed Meichler, 57, when their attempt to rob his home went awry.
Desperate to cover up the murder, they tried to dispose of the body by cutting it up with a butcher's knife and hiding body parts around the area.
Body parts were spread across the Causses and Rougier regions of south France, and other bits left in the victim's van.
Schneider also apparently admitted to cooking parts of the body in a pot with vegetables at his home as part of a religious ritual he encountered when travelling in Nepal.
Charred bones were found near Meichler's house, and human remains not far from the alleged killers ' apartment building.
A 25-year-old grave digger also on trial as an accomplice to the pair reportedly said Schneider told him to cook the meant until it "falls off the bones" and, if anyone asked, say it was "food for the dog".
Meichler's lived as a recluse - without water or electricity - in a small stone house in the middle of a forest.
Police began their investigations after his ex-partner raised the alarm because she hadn't heard from him.
His daughter also received a text from his phone which read: "Hi. I'm heading to Brittany with a friend. Get some fresh air and see the country. See you when I get back. Have a nice day."

The message immediately rang alarm bells with the daughter, because her father rarely sent text messages and would use a very different tone if he did.
Police then launched a missing persons investigation in Brasc - where neighbours said they had not seen him for several days.
Door-to-door enquiries revealed locals had seen two people driving around in the dead man's Citroën Jumpy van.
After linking restaurateur couple to the van, police tracked their movements and phone conversations.
The vehicle was eventually found outside a council building in Camarès - around 24 miles from Brasc - with the restaurateur couple at the wheel.

Schneider claimed that the missing Meichler had entrusted him with the car in order to feed his chickens in the house he had been renovating.
But when police searched the van they found bags of human remains and blood.
Schneider then admitted to the murdering, butchering and cooking the gentle Meichler, explaining it had been a burglary gone wrong.
He told investigators: "What I'm about to tell you is horrific, it's going to be difficult to hear," before revealing the sordid tale.
Former partners describe him as a manipulator and a pervert who coerced them and pushed them to go to sex clubs.
And experts who examined him concluded he was "marked by a need for control and domination" and "often engaged in manipulation and control over others".
Addicted to alcohol and cannabis, Schneider was reportedly traumatised by the sexual abuse he claims to have suffered as a child.
He was arrested alongside Caboubassy - who has always insisted she played no part.
Caboubassy and the grave digger are on trial for complicity in the crime.
The verdict is expected on May 22.

She believes 'something broke inside' of Decker and that he 'would not have done what he did if he was himself', Cozart revealed in a heartbreaking statement early Thursday morning. 'He clearly had some sort of break and everything that he had been living with, everything that had been bottled up inside of him for so long as far as trauma, just won out,' Cozart told the Seattle Times. The attorney, speaking on behalf of Whitney, also noted that it was uncharacteristic of Decker not to return his daughters after a scheduled visitation. His 'declining mental health' and 'out-of-character behavior' should have prompted 'enough concern' for an Amber Alert, Cozart argued. She believes authorities should have acknowledged the sisters were 'missing' and in 'substantial danger', even though Decker 'didn't issue an overt threat'. Police believe the girls died from asphyxiation and reported that their wrists were zip-tied, court documents state. A crime scene in an extremely remote part of a national park overrun by wild pigs and dogs is under police guard following the discovery of human remains believed to be that of murdered teenager Pheobe Bishop. Police discovered the remains in the sprawling Good Night Scrub National Park at 2.30pm on Friday, bringing the three-week search for the missing 17-year-old to a tragic end. Daily Mail Australia can exclusively reveal a crime scene is under police guard within the remote area, as of early on Saturday morning. The area is around an hour from Pheobe's hometown of Gin Gin, near Bundaberg in central Queensland, where she lived with Tanika Bromley and James Wood. The couple have been charged with her murder, along with two counts of interfering with a corpse, and are in police custody. The new location, cordoned off with police tape, is extremely remote and dotted with the prints of wild pigs and dogs that run rampant in the dense bushland. The remains are believed to have lay at the isolated site for three weeks. A source told this publication they faced a 'daunting' night guarding the scene. 'The dogs made their presence and their displeasure known during the night,' they said. The site is near an area forensics reported finding 'items of interest' last week. Pheobe's mother Kylie Johnson was last night informed that police had found human remains. 'I didn't think my heart could break anymore then it did when you went missing, or when the charges were laid, but this! This is ripping me apart,' she said. Earlier on Friday, Pheobe's older sister, Kaylea, 18, had begged for help finding her sister's body in an impassioned plea outside Bundaberg Magistrates Court after Bromley and Wood's murder charges were heard. She sat in the far corner of the front row, staring straight ahead flanked by friends, family and a court security guard as details of the murder charges against the couple were read out. Neither Wood nor Bromley appeared in person or by video link for the hearing and afterwards Kaylea walked outside to make her heartbreaking statement. 'We just want her home,' she said tearfully through red-rimmed eyes. 'I don't know what to say, if you've got any information about Pheobe or the car, just come forward. 'Three weeks is too long for us as a family. She was loved, she's missed dearly.' It comes as the house where Pheobe lived has been turned into a shrine. A makeshift memorial has appeared at the ramshackle, rubbish-strewn Gin Gin home Pheobe shared with Bromley and Wood. A large pink teddy bear stood guard over the property, surrounded with bouquets of flowers. A poignant message left by one mourner read, 'Pheobe, you grew your wings too early beautiful girl. Now, you will no longer feel pain or heartache. 'You can spread your wings, and know you will be loved.' The house has been extensively searched by forensics since Pheobe was reported missing. The teen's family and Gin Gin locals are preparing to honour her memory at a community ceremony tomorrow night. A candlelight vigil will be held at Kolan Community Park from 4pm.

Boy, eight, found murdered in plastic bag in an attic after being preyed on by unlikeliest of killers
An eight-year-old Ohio boy, who was found dead in plastic bags in an attic, is revealed to have been allegedly killed by his own mother. Martonio Wilder was found wrapped in a garbage bag in the attic of his Columbus home on June 28, 2024, around six hours after his mom, Lashanda Wilder, reported the boy missing. Martonio's mother, 33, and her girlfriend Johnna Lowe, 34, were both charged with murder, tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse, and felonious assault. Wilder had told police that Martonio had run away and that it had happened before, before his body was found at around 6.30pm. Martonio was found severely malnourished, weighing only 35 pounds, and dehydrated with signs of blunt force trauma, including multiple bruises and cuts on his face and head, according to the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney. The Franklin County Coroner's Office determined that the young boy had died from 'deep neck compression.' His autopsy report said his eyes and stomach were 'sunken' and he had a 'severe loss of muscle mass' allowing for his bones to be clearly visible through his skin. Lowe, Wilder, and two other children left the home after police arrived with a cadaver dog to assist in the search for Martonio prompting an amber alert for the two kids. They were later located with Lowe's mother, 68-year-old Mary Johnson, who is facing obstruction of justice charges. Lowe pled guilty to murder and abuse of a corpse and was sentenced to twelve months as well as fifteen years to life with the possibility of parole, according to court documents. The boy's life was described by prosecutor's as 'brutal,' according to ABC News. 'Multiple witnesses and some family members told detectives that Miss Wilder treated Martonio Wilder different than her other sons,' a prosecutor said. 'They spoke about unusual punishments for Martonio, including holding a weighted ball and walking up and down the steps while naked and restricting food. Witnesses also stated Martonio was always hungry and stole food from other homes he was at, including his school.' Lowe had turned herself in to police and prosecutors said she admitted that the couple intended to blame one of Martonio's siblings for his death, the Dispatch reported. Wilder remains in custody in Franklin County Jail on a $2 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court in July.
