Douglas Fairbanks Jr.'s former NYC home re-lists for $1.2M
A Manhattan apartment once home to Hollywood royalty is back on the market — this time with a starring role in the discount department.
The former Park Avenue residence of actor Douglas Fairbanks Jr. has re-listed for $1.2 million, a drop from its original $1.75 million ask when it debuted in 2023.
The 2,100-square-foot co-op, located in the storied Beekman building, has appeared on and off the market over the past several months, undergoing a series of price reductions.

Fairbanks — known for swashbuckling roles on screen and high-society connections off it — once hosted luminaries such as Sir Laurence Olivier, Rex Harrison and the Duke of Wellington in the apartment's expansive, south-facing living room.

That same room now serves as the showpiece of the home, bathed in natural light and designed for entertaining, with space for more than a dozen guests.
Despite his success in show business, Fairbanks revealed in a 1989 interview with the New York Times from this apartment that his most meaningful years came when he fought in World War I.

'I believe I was the first film actor to enter the war and probably the last one to come back,' Fairbanks said. 'It was six years of very fulfilling active duty. When it was over, I was told that the public had forgotten me and that it would be very hard to get back into films. But luck brought me 'Sinbad the Sailor,' and it hit the jackpot.'
The three-bedroom, three-bath residence is rich in architectural detail and historic charm.
A formal foyer with herringbone floors leads into a library designed with classic sensibilities. Pocket doors open to a flexible adjacent room with its own ensuite bath, a marble fireplace imported from England and built-in storage.

The primary bedroom is privately tucked away in its own wing and features two walk-in closets, a windowed bathroom, and ample space for a seating area or a desk, the listing notes.
Though the building dates to 1927, certain interiors have been thoroughly updated, according to the listing.
The time-capsule kitchen, meanwhile, features appliances and storage — while the apartment overall offers five walk-in closets and a bonus room that could serve as an office, an expanded bathroom or oversized dressing space.
The Beekman, originally developed as a hotel, retains many of its hospitality-focused perks. Maintenance fees include daily housekeeping and utilities, and residents have access to a gym, laundry facilities, and a full-time doorman and concierge services. A new restaurant by acclaimed chef Daniel Boulud is set to open in the building's ground-floor commercial space. Two private storage cages transfer with the apartment.

Hey, there! The weekend is almost upon us and, whether or not you're spending a significant chunk of it watching a ton of video game announcements, we sure hope it's a wonderful one for you. One game we are reasonably sure you're interested in is Wordle, so let's make sure we keep those streaks flowing. Here's our daily Wordle guide with some hints and the answer for Friday's puzzle (#1,448). It may be that you're a Wordle newcomer and you're not completely sure how to play the game. We're here to help with that too. Wordle is a deceptively simple daily word game that first emerged in 2021. The gist is that there is one five-letter word to deduce every day by process of elimination. The daily word is the same for everyone. Wordle blew up in popularity in late 2021 after creator Josh Wardle made it easy for players to share an emoji-based grid with their friends and followers that detailed how they fared each day. The game's success spurred dozens of clones across a swathe of categories and formats. The New York Times purchased Wordle in early 2022 for an undisclosed sum. The publication said that players collectively played Wordle 5.3 billion times in 2024. So, it's little surprise that Wordle is one of the best online games and puzzles you can play daily. To start playing Wordle, you simply need to enter one five-letter word. The game will tell you how close you are to that day's secret word by highlighting letters that are in the correct position in green. Letters that appear in the word but aren't in the right spot will be highlighted in yellow. If you guess any letters that are not in the secret word, the game will gray those out on the virtual keyboard. However, you can still use those letters in subsequent guesses. You'll only have six guesses to find each day's word, though you still can use grayed-out letters to help narrow things down. It's also worth remembering that letters can appear in the secret word more than once. Wordle is free to play on the NYT's website and apps, as well as on Meta Quest headsets. The game refreshes at midnight local time. If you log into a New York Times account, you can track your stats, including the all-important win streak. If you have a NYT subscription that includes full access to the publication's games, you don't have to stop after a single round of Wordle. You'll have access to an archive of more than 1,400 previous Wordle games. So if you're a relative newcomer, you'll be able to go back and catch up on previous editions. In addition, paid NYT Games members have access to a tool called the Wordle Bot. This can tell you how well you performed at each day's game. 'Ghost Adventures' star Aaron Goodwin faced off against his wife Victoria in court Thursday as she was sentenced for concocting a murder-for-hire plot to kill her husband, according to a report. Goodwin, 49, issued a scathing rebuke of his estranged wife Victoria who was arrested in Nevada in March for attempting to organize the murder of her husband with the help of her paramour, US Weekly reported. 3 Aaron Goodwin, 49, broke down in court as he confronted estranged wife Victoria who attempted to concoct a murder-for-hire plot targeting the Discovery Channel star. 'She made me feel so special and she was very — she was so sorry. At least that's what you told me,' Aaron said, speaking directly to his wife in court. 'Now, discovering she put a hit out to kill me more than once, got blackmailed and spent almost all of our savings to keep it quiet and fell more in love with Amato. They even got spiritual married and now I was called the first husband. They talked until she was arrested, and she sought out his help to kill me,' the 49-year-old revealed. Advertisement The Discovery Channel star said he was completely in the dark regarding the murder plot and the blackmail until he was told by detectives after Victoria's arrest. The 32-year-old's lover Grant Amato was convicted of massacring his mother, father, and brothers and was serving a life sentence in a Florida prison when Victoria reached out as a pen pal following his starring role in documentary 'Ctrl+Alt+Desire.' 3 Victoria Goodwin, 32, issued an apology to her estranged husband, who said he did not recognize her as the person he married. 'Firstly, and most importantly, I would like to apologize to Aaron. I'm so immensely sorry for the pain and anxiety I've caused you and the betrayal you undoubtedly and rightfully feel by my actions,' Victoria said through tears, according to the outlet. 3 The 32-year-old was sentenced to a maximum of 90 months in prison. I genuinely pray you find your joy and peace again, and I will bow out of your life forever to hopefully ease that process,' she continued. The 32-year-old went on to issue apologies to her parents and to the Florida court, which handed her down a steep sentence for the attempt at organizing a violent betrayal. Victoria was sentenced to a minimum of 36 months to a maximum of 90 months on Thursday, according to the report.
