"Delhi airport operations to remain normal", say authorities
New Delhi: Amid the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Delhi Airport has said that the operations would remain normal, further stating that some flights would be impacted due to the changing airspace.
In a post on X, the Airport authorities also urged passengers to check with their airlines for the latest updates and rely only on official sources.
"Delhi Airport operations remain normal. Some flights are impacted due to changing airspace conditions and heightened security.
Please check with your airlines for the latest updates. We urge everyone to rely on official sources and avoid sharing unverified information. We are working closely with all stakeholders to minimise any inconvenience," the post read.
Meanwhile, Air India urged passengers to arrive at their respective airports at least three hours before their scheduled departures to ensure a smooth check-in and boarding.
"#TravelAdvisory: In view of an order by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security on enhanced measures at airports, passengers across India are advised to arrive at their respective airports at least three hours prior to scheduled departure to ensure smooth check-in and boarding. Check-in closes 75 mins before departure," the airlines wrote in a post on X.
Earlier, Akasa airlines also in a post advised passengers to reach airports three hours before departure.
Passengers have also been requested to carry valid government-approved photo identification documents.
In a post on X, Akasa Airlines in a post wrote, "Travel Update: Due to enhanced security measures at all airports across India, we request you to reach the airport at least 3 hours prior to departure, to ensure a seamless check-in and boarding experience. Please ensure you carry valid government-approved photo identification documents for entry to the airport. In addition to your check-in baggage, only 1 handbag weighing upto 7 kgs will be permitted. As per regulatory guidelines, all passengers will be required to undergo secondary security checks prior to boarding."
"To save time, we encourage you to check in online on http://akasaair.com or our mobile app. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding and look forward to welcoming you aboard the Akasa experience," the statement added.
This comes in after the Pakistan army resorted to firing across the Line of Control (Loc) in Uri. Kupwara, Tangdhar and Karnah sectors of Jammu and Kashmuir, violating the ceasefire.

India: Runway upgrade at Delhi airport to disrupt 100 flights; 57 cancelled, 43 rescheduled
New Delhi: Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar on Friday announced that Delhi Airport will temporarily shut Runway 10/28 for a three-month period to carry out critical upgrades aimed at improving fog-time operations. This will impact around 100 flights in all. Speaking to ANI, CEO of Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, said, "Out of the four runways that the Delhi airport has, there is one runway 10/28 that we are planning to shut down for three months because there are upgrades that are required." As part of the degradation, DIAL will update the current ILS (Instrument Landing System), which is already out of order. DIAL will also make the runway CAT III-B compliant. CAT III-B is an advanced landing system that allows aircraft to land in extremely low visibility conditions. Due to the degradation activity undertaken by the DIAL, 100 flights are going to be affected overall, out of which over 43 flights are going to be rescheduled. "The new schedule has already been published, and 57 departure flights are going to be cancelled. If you put it in the perspective of the percentage, then overall, for Delhi airport, about 7 per cent of the Delhi airport capacity flights will be cancelled," said the DIAL CEO. "We also ensure that the cancellations are not something that is impacting in a big way. So, in most of the sectors where we had multiple connectivity, their 8-9 per cent of the connectivity was reduced so that overall that sector does not get impacted badly," he added. Global credit rating firm Fitch Ratings in April the current year upgraded Delhi International Airport Limited to BB+, kipping the outlook as stable. In its commentary, the rating firm said that the improvement in the financial profile is likely to be materially higher than its previous expectations. DIAL benefits from a stable regulatory regime with revenue and capex determined by the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA). The company also benefits from its position as India's largest airport by passenger traffic and the gateway to the national capital region with a catchment population of over 30 million, supporting strong long-term growth prospects despite some competition from the proposed opening of Noida International Airport in the financial year 2026.

After Indigo, Akasa partners with Navi Mumbai Airport for commercial flights
Mumbai: Akasa Air on Friday announced its partnership with Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) to commence commercial flight operations from the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). A joint statement said Akasa Air will initially operate 100+ weekly domestic departures, scaling up to 300+ domestic and over 50+ international departures weekly in the winter schedule. As part of its broader network strategy, the airline is also set to ramp up to 10 parking bases by the end of 2026-27, with a focused international expansion into key Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian markets. Recently, Indigo had also partnered with Adani Group for operating commercial flights from the newly built Navi Mumbai airport. Vinay Dube, Founder and CEO, Akasa Air said: "Our foray into Navi Mumbai International Airport is a strategic step aligned with Akasa Air's long-term vision to build a future-ready airline that is responsive to the evolving needs of Indian travellers. The launch of Navi Mumbai airport will create a dual-airport system for the country's financial capital, enabling the decongestion of Mumbai airport and enhancing the overall passenger experience. The airport spans over 1,160 hectares (2,866 acres) of land. In March 2025, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani visited the Navi Mumbai airport site, which is almost ready for operations. Adani Group earlier hinted that it plans to inaugurate the Navi Mumbai airport in the first half of 2025. The greenfield Navi Mumbai airport will have two parallel runways, enabling two aircraft to land and take off simultaneously. The Navi Mumbai airport features a 3,700-meter runway capable of handling large commercial aircraft. Adani Airport Holdings Limited was incorporated in 2019 as a 100 per cent subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Ltd, the flagship company of the Adani Group. The Adani Group made its maiden venture into the airports sector by emerging as the highest bidder for the operation, management, and development of six airports: Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Jaipur, Guwahati, and Thiruvananthapuram. It also signed concession agreements with the Airport Authority of India for all six airports. The already operational airport in Mumbai is also an Adani airport.

Air India scales up Kathmandu, Colombo, Bangkok routes
New Delhi: Air India announced on Thursday that it has added more flights to Bangkok, Colombo, and Kathmandu to meet the growing passenger demand. Effective July 7, 2025, Air India will add a sixth daily flight between Delhi and Kathmandu, increasing frequency from 35x weekly to 42x weekly. Air India will add a second daily flight between Delhi and Colombo, doubling the route's frequency from 7x weekly to 14x weekly. The Tata Group airline will add a third daily flight between Mumbai and Bangkok, increasing frequency from 13x weekly to 18x weekly. Air India said in a statement that the expansion will add over 7,000 seats deployed to and from Bangkok, Colombo, and Kathmandu. The additional flights to Kathmandu and Bangkok will be operated by Air India's best narrow-body aircraft in three-class cabin configuration, including Premium Economy Class, offering a premium full-service flying experience to travellers on the routes. "Air India's flights to Colombo, Kathmandu, and Bangkok provide seamless one-stop connectivity to and from destinations in North America, Europe, and the Far East," the airline said. With the added frequency, Air India will operate 42x weekly flights to Kathmandu, 28x weekly flights to Colombo, and 46x weekly flights to Bangkok. Bookings for the additional flights are now open on all channels, including Air India's website, mobile app, airport ticketing offices, contact centres, and through all travel agents. Air India group employs more than 30,000 people, operates over 300 aircraft and carries customers to 55 domestic and 48 international destinations across five continents. Returning to the Tata Sons in 2022 following 70 years under Government ownership, Air India group is in the midst of a five-year transformation program, As part of the transformation, Air India has placed an order for 570 new aircraft. In 2024, sister airlines Air Asia India and Vistara were successfully merged into Air India Express and Air India, respectively, and the Airline opened South Asia's largest aviation training academy. A new flying school is scheduled to open in 2025, and construction of a greenfield maintenance base, to be operational in 2026, is underway.
