Another Barcelona youngster tempted by move to Saudi Arabia

Concern is beginning to mount behind the scenes at La Liga giants Barcelona.
This comes amid confirmation that a 2nd member of the club's academy setup is increasingly tempted to take his talents to Saudi Arabia before the month is out.
The subject of negotiations with Saudi clubs has taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya's capital for several days now.
This comes amid the widespread understanding that Barca Atlètic captain Unai Hernández is inching towards an imminent move to SPL outfit Al Ittihad.

Unai, for his part, has long been considered one of the standout up-and-coming talents on the books of Barcelona.
In turn, it will no doubt come as a source of concern for the Blaugrana faithful to learn that he could well be followed out the exit door this month by another hugely exciting prospect.
As revealed by Barca insider Toni Juanmartí of Diario Sport:
'Pau Prim is tempted to leave for Saudi Arabia. Nothing is set in stone, but a serious option on the table.'
Prim, another midfield starlet, is due to see his contract terms in Catalunya expire in the summer, with little progress having been made in talks over a renewal.
The 18-year-old, in turn, could well be bound for the Middle East.
Not only that, but yet another La Masia product, in Arnau Pradas, is being eyed by several Saudi clubs, too.

Barcelona to pay transfer target's termination clause next Tuesday

A fresh insight into the plans of the Barcelona brass to bring in Joan García from Espanyol has this weekend been provided. The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, and confirms that the Blaugrana's intention is to imminently deposit the goalkeeper's release clause. Advertisement It is of course common knowledge across Spain at this point that Barcelona have set their sights firmly on Joan's signature. Amid an ongoing search for reinforcements between the posts for next season, the Blaugrana have earmarked the Espanyol standout as the ideal profile for present and future alike. An agreement has already been reached with Joan and his representatives over the terms of a long-term contract, meaning all that remains is to pay the 24-year-old's release clause. And if the latest word stemming from the Spanish press is anything to go by, as much looks set to be forthcoming early next week. Advertisement As per Sport: 'The key now is the payment of the termination clause of 25 million euros, plus CPI. Barça hope to have all the paperwork ready for a representative of Joan García to make it effective next Tuesday at the headquarters of La Liga.' Conor Laird – GSFN

We got away with it – Harry Kane admits England lacked quality in Andorra win

England captain Harry Kane admits Thomas Tuchel's side 'got away with it' having put in a sloppy display in Saturday's drab encounter with minnows Andorra. After starting World Cup qualification, and the German's reign, with Wembley wins against Albania and Latvia, things fell flat against the 173rd-best team in the world in Barcelona. Advertisement England were booed by many of the 6,950 travelling fans after a scoreless first half against Andorra, with further jeers greeting the final whistle after Tuchel's men failed to kick on from Kane's 50th-minute goal. The candid head coach felt the Euro 2024 runners-up 'played with fire' due to their lack of 'seriousness and urgency', with the skipper sharing similar sentiments. 'It wasn't our greatest performance,' Kane said. 'I don't think it's one many people are going to remember, that's for sure, but it's three points in the bag. 'But, yeah, for sure we know we can play better in all aspects, both with and without the ball. Advertisement 'It's down to us now to go analyse it, look back and try and learn from it because condition-wise it's going to be very similar to next summer – dry pitch, warm weather, humid. 'We were just lacking quality, looked a bit fatigued both physically and mentally and, yeah, we got away with it because we're a good team and they had a couple of half-chances there where we didn't get punished. But ultimately, it wasn't good enough.' Harry Kane hailed Noni Madueke's 'individual quality' after the Chelsea winger set up his goal against Andorra (Bradley Collyer/PA) Kane has scored in all three matches under Tuchel, his former manager at Bayern Munich, with the latest effort extending England's all-time top scorer's record goal haul to 72. Advertisement Noni Madueke capped a man-of-the-match display by providing the cross for the winner and the captain felt this kind of match cried out for the directness of a talent like the Chelsea winger. 'He was really good today,' Kane said as attention turns to Tuesday's friendly against Senegal. 'I think in these type of games, you need players like Noni who are good one-v-one to sometimes make a difference. 'It's a dry pitch, not easy to move the ball quickly, so sometimes you rely on individual quality and I thought he was probably our best outlet today. Harry Kane's goal was enough to seal a low-key win over Andorra (Bradley Collyer/PA) 'The goal itself was probably our best move of the game in terms of how we wanted to play, more in terms of Curt (Jones) getting on it and playing the forward pass to me, and then obviously the rebound and back across. 'It was probably our best move and we just didn't have enough of that, both with probably the runs and also the quality – a lot of balls kind of overhit, out of play, and it just kind of killed our momentum, especially there in the second half.'

Barcelona youth product nears free transfer move to Ajax

According to a recent update from Voetbal International, Barcelona's promising young midfielder Eloi Gomez is set to leave the club, with Dutch giants Ajax showing serious interest in signing him once his contract expires. Barcelona have been hard at work not just on the senior team but also on developing and restructuring their youth teams. Advertisement As part of that effort, the club has renewed several contracts of young talents who are seen as having a future at the club. However, Eloi Gomez appears to be an exception. The outlet mentions that the young midfielder is expected to move on after hinting on social media that his time at La Masia is coming to a close. Ajax want to replace Real Madrid-bound youngster Reports from the Netherlands claim that Ajax are eager to bring Eloi into their youth system, particularly in the wake of Abdellah Ouazane's move to Real Madrid. The Amsterdam-based club has been tracking his development for some time and are now looking to finalise a deal that would see him continue his footballing education in the Eredivisie. Advertisement Born in 2009, Gomez joined Barcelona in 2017 from Gimnastic Manresa and has steadily climbed the ranks within the club's youth academy. Known for his intelligence on the ball and maturity beyond his years, he has also represented Spain at the U-16 level, taking part in two friendly matches with the national youth team. If the move to Ajax goes through, it would mark a significant step in Eloi Gomez's young career. Ajax, renowned for their strong youth development, could provide him with the perfect platform to grow further and eventually break into top-level football. For Barcelona, though, it would be yet another reminder of how difficult it can be to retain all of their top prospects in a highly competitive European market.
