Silat Instructor Claims Trial To Sexual Assault Charges Against Three Male Students
KOTA BHARU, June 25 (Bernama) -- A silat instructor pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court today to four charges of committing sexual assault against three male students aged 15 and 17.
Faizul Yusoff, 54, was charged with two counts of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy in a hotel room at Kampung Semut Api Badang, Jalan Pantai Cahaya Bulan (PCB), at 9.00 pm on Feb 13 and at 3.00 am on Feb 14, 2025.
He also faces a charge of committing sexual assault against a 17-year-old victim at a homestay in Kampung Talang Kadok at 1.00 am on Nov 13, 2023.
Additionally, he is charged with a similar offence involving another 17-year-old victim, allegedly committed at a homestay in Kubang Golok, Bachok, at 3.00 am on Jan 28 this year.
He was charged under Sections 14(a) and 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for imprisonment of up to 20 years and caning, upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Kamarul Hasyime Rosli appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was represented by Nur Alyaa Mohd Zain from the Kelantan Legal Aid Foundation.
Earlier, Kamarul Hasyime objected to bail on the grounds of the seriousness of the charges.
However, Nur Alyaa applied for minimal bail, citing that her client has no fixed income as he works solely as a silat instructor and is supporting five children.
Judge Zulkifli Abllah granted bail at RM10,000 for each charge with one surety, prohibited the accused from interfering with the victims and to report to the nearest police station monthly.

IPOH, June 25 (Bernama) -- A 31-year-old man has been remanded for seven days starting today on suspicion of murdering his father at their home in Taman Tasek Damai here last night. Ipoh police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the suspect was arrested in front of the house at approximately 12.15 am and is being remanded to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. "A mobile phone, a car dashcam and a CCTV decoder were also seized," he said in a statement today. He added that police received a call at 8.26 pm last night regarding the 57-year-old victim found unconscious in the house. Preliminary investigations revealed the victim was found lying on his back in a pool of blood in the kitchen, while the premises' CCTV was found to be non-functional. Abang Zainal Abidin said the suspect claimed that his father last responded to a text message at 2.40 pm. 'At around 7.30 pm, the suspect returned home from work and found the front gate closed, but the grille and glass doors were open. He also noticed the living room sofa was in disarray. 'He then proceeded to the kitchen, where he discovered the victim lying on his back in a pool of blood. Further checks confirmed that no valuables were missing,' he said. He added that a neighbour said the victim was last seen alone, smoking outside the house at approximately 11 am, and no suspicious activity was seen or heard at the time.

Finance Officer Loses Over RM4 Mln To Online Investment Scam
GEORGE TOWN, June 25 (Bernama) -- A finance officer from a local consultancy firm has lost RM4.17 million after falling victim to an online investment scam recently. Penang police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said the 60-year-old woman lodged a police report yesterday at the Timur Laut district police headquarters (IPD), claiming she had been deceived by an investment scheme known as 'KKR Investment'. He said the victim first came across a KKR Investment advertisement on Facebook in early March and clicked on the link provided. 'She was then contacted via WhatsApp by a woman who later added her to a WhatsApp group called 'Kumpulan Analisis Kewangan Saham Malaysia' (Malaysian Stock Financial Analysis Group),' he said in a statement today. Hamzah said the suspect promised high returns within a short period, depending on the amount invested. The victim was also instructed to download an app called 'KKR INV' via a given link to register and begin investing. Between March 10 and June 13, the victim made 76 transactions amounting to RM4.17 million to eight different company bank accounts before realising she had been scammed. 'She became suspicious when she was unable to withdraw the profits displayed in the app and was instead asked to make additional payments,' Hamzah said. Malaysian Woman Caught With Over 2kg Of Drugs At Woodlands Checkpoint
By Nur Ashikin Abdul Aziz SINGAPORE, June 25 (Bernama) -- A 46-year-old Malaysian woman was arrested on Monday (June 23) for allegedly attempting to smuggle over two kilogrammes (kg) of drugs, including cannabis and 'Ice', worth more than S$142,000 (S$1=RM3.30), into Singapore. In a joint statement, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said ICA officers discovered two bundles, suspected to contain controlled drugs, concealed beneath the front fairing of the motorcycle ridden by the woman during an enhanced check at Woodlands Checkpoint. bootstrap slideshow 'CNB was promptly alerted, and further checks uncovered a total of seven bundles from the same location,' the statement said on Wednesday. Authorities said the bundles were later found to contain 1,057 grams (g) of cannabis and 973g of 'Ice'. The seized drugs could potentially feed the addiction of about 700 abusers for a week. Investigations are ongoing.
