Tata Harrier.ev Acceleration Test- Can It Pull Off the Tablecloth Challenge? Watch

Tata has been launched in the Indian market, and the brand has already revealed all the specifications of the electric SUV. But it seems like the automaker is not done. They are now going ahead to demonstrate the real-world application of the numbers. Before the launch of the SUV, the automaker had revealed a clip of the vehicle climbing the elephant rock to demonstrate the AWD system. Now, it's the demonstration of its acceleration. Tata Motors has released a new video putting the through an acceleration test. The demonstration is done by the tablecloth challenge. The video begins by showing the electric SUV. Later on, it shows a table with various dishes on it, placed on a tablecloth. The EV then gets a launch from a dead stop, with one end of a rope tied to the vehicle and the other end to the tablecloth. With its fast acceleration, the vehicle manages to pull the tablecloth without disturbing the utensils. The feat became possible because of a dual motor setup consisting of a 155 hp front motor and a 234 hp rear motor. The max torque output stands at 504 Nm. Using this power, the SUV can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 6.3 seconds. It is to be noted that at the time of performing the task, the electric vehicle was in Boost Mode. Apart from that, it also has Sport, City, and Eco modes. Tata is available with two battery pack options: 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs. The bigger battery pack gives 627 km of claimed range. The brand claims that using a 120 kW DC fast charger, the EV can offer a range of up to 250 km within 15 minutes of plugging in. It can also go from 20 to 80 per cent in 25 minutes. All of this comes at a starting price of Rs 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Centre simplifies GFR rules for procurement of scientific equipment, consumables

New Delhi: In a major step towards the ease of doing research, the General Finance Rules (GFR) have been simplified for procurement of scientific equipment and consumables, said Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology on Saturday. GFRs are the governing financial regulations for the government, outlining procedures for managing public finances. Applicable to Central government ministries, departments, for autonomous bodies with their own approved financial regulations, the GFRs cover aspects like budgeting, procurement, expenditure, and accounting. In a post on social media platform X, Singh noted that the move will enhance autonomy for young researchers. 'Here is a heartening news and a major breakthrough for young aspiring startups, innovators, and researchers: In a landmark step enabling ease of doing research, the GFR rules have been simplified for procurement of scientific equipment and consumables,' Singh said. 'This will reduce delays, also enhance autonomy and flexibility for research institutions -- empowering them to innovate faster,' he added. The MoS also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'for this transformative reform which will accelerate the technology-driven journey of Viksit Bharat'. An Office Memorandum, dated June 5, permitted Vice-Chancellors, directors of scientific organisations, and academic institutions 'to make non-Government e-Marketplace (GeM) procurement of scientific equipment and consumables'. The order is valid only for departments of Science and Technology; Biotechnology; Scientific and Industrial Research; Atomic Energy; Space; Earth Sciences; Defence Research and Development Organization; Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), including its affiliated institutions and Universities; Health Research (DHR), including Indian Council of Medical Research; educational and research institutes conducting post-graduate/ doctoral level courses or research, under any Ministry/ Department, the memorandum said. With the simplified rules, the limit of purchase of goods without quotation has been increased from the current Rs. 1,00,000 to Rs. 2,00,000. Similarly, the limit on the purchase of goods by the Purchase Committee has been increased to Rs. 2,00,000 and up to Rs. 25,00,000. For the Limited Tender Enquiry (LTE), the amended limit is up to Rs. 1 crore, while for Advertised Tender Enquiry, the new limit is above Rs. 1 crore, the memorandum said. The amendment is likely to provide greater flexibility to scientific Ministries to import and buy equipment necessary for research.

Samsung leak confirms Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 ahead of launch in the most Samsung way

Samsung has made headlines once again, not through a bold announcement but via an unexpected leak from its own backyard. In a move that feels all too familiar to tech watchers, the South Korean tech giant has seemingly confirmed the names of its upcoming foldable smartphones: the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. The leak came from none other than Samsung itself, through a listing on its Galaxy Store. A beta version of the Samsung Internet Browser was uploaded with the label 'for Fold7 and Flip7,' making a quiet but clear confirmation of the branding for its next-gen foldables. First spotted by GalaxyClub, the update appears to be part of a development release tied to One UI 8, Samsung's upcoming software layer expected to ship with Android 16. The app listing is visible only on select test devices running Android 16 with One UI 8, likely internal Galaxy S25 units. This further supports the notion that these foldables will debut with the new software version. Although the app itself does not reveal specifications or design details, the naming in the title is enough to confirm what many already suspected: the Fold 7 and Flip 7 are on their way, and Samsung just said it out loud. While this accidental confirmation does not include technical specifications, leaks from recent weeks have painted a fairly detailed picture. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to come in configurations of up to 16 GB RAM and 1 TB of storage, with new colour options in tow. The Z Flip 7, meanwhile, is expected in colourways like Blue Shadow and White and will also offer a variety of storage and RAM options. There is also buzz about a more affordable foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE (Fan Edition). Rumoured to be in development, it could launch under $1,000 (around ₹83,000), pointing to Samsung's push to bring foldables to more users. An official reveal has not yet been announced, but all signs point to a Galaxy Unpacked event in early July 2025. Historically, Samsung holds its mid-year Unpacked events to launch its foldable devices, and this year appears to follow the same pattern. Given that internal software builds and app support are already being quietly tested, a July unveiling seems highly likely. This time, Samsung's own app listing did the talking, a familiar occurrence in its launch cycle history. Over the years, the company has gained a reputation for prematurely revealing its own devices through development firmware, app updates, and regional store listings. These leaks, although unintentional, tend to generate as much buzz as the official announcements themselves.
