A chilling encounter between a leopard and a pack of stray dogs has grabbed eyeballs on social media. The incident occurred in Uttarakhand's Haridwar around 2.00 AM on Monday. What stunned the Internet was the unity among the dogs that shooed away the big cat.
In the now-viral clip shared by journalist Sachin Gupta, a leopard is seen silently entering a deserted street, suddenly attacking a sleeping dog, and grabbing it by the neck in what appeared to be a fatal move. Startled and caught off guard, the dog struggled to break free from the predator's strong grip.
But just as the video seemed to take a grim turn, an unexpected act of courage unfolded. A pack of stray dogs came charging in, barking furiously, and confronting the leopard without fear. Displaying remarkable unity, the dogs managed to drive the big cat away, rescuing their companion from its grip.
Sharing the video, Gupta wrote, 'Uttarakhand: In Haridwar, a leopard attacked a dog sleeping on the road. It grabbed its neck. Meanwhile, several other dogs came. They attacked the leopard and chased it away.'

The video has left viewers both shocked and moved, with many social media users expressing concern for the injured dog. 'Was vet treatment given to the injured dog,' a user wrote. 'No matter how powerful the enemy is, unity can overpower anyone. Humans also need to learn from these animals,' another user commented.
'Black dog was like…. friend first…. I'll die for my friend,' a third user reacted. 'Just demonstrates that if a few dogs combine, they can also kill a Lion. PS: it has nothing to do with India standing alone in the neighbourhood of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and of course China,' a fourth user said.
Last year, a video of a pet dog fighting a leopard that entered the garden of a house in Rajasthan's Mount Abu took the Internet by storm. The video showed a Labrador Retriever bravely trying to break free after the big cat tried to bite its neck.

Bank officer in Kota embezzled Rs 4.6 crore from customers' fixed deposits to invest in stock market, arrested

JAIPUR: In a massive financial fraud case, a female officer at a private bank in Kota has been arrested for misappropriating over Rs 4.58 crore from customer accounts over a span of three years. The accused, Sakshi Gupta, was serving as a relationship manager at ICICI Bank and is alleged to have diverted funds from fixed deposits to invest in the stock market and faced heavy losses. Police officials revealed that between 2020 and 2023, Gupta illegally withdrew money from 110 fixed deposit accounts belonging to 41 customers. She exploited a system loophole known as the "User FD" link to access and siphon off funds without triggering alerts to the account holders. The fraud remained undetected for years and only came to light after a managerial transfer at the branch. When a customer recently visited the bank to redeem a matured fixed deposit, discrepancies in the account triggered an internal inquiry. Investigating Officer Ibrahim Khan said Gupta rerouted OTPs (One-Time Passwords) from customers' accounts to her own system by linking phone numbers of her relatives. This allowed her to carry out high-value transactions without the account holders being notified. "She developed a system that intercepted OTPs, ensuring customers remained unaware of the unauthorized withdrawals. We're investigating who else may have been involved — inside or outside the bank," Khan said.

Panaji: Goa police on Saturday arrested two individuals in separate narcotic cases at Panaji and Mandrem police stations and seized drugs worth Rs 1 lakh. 'During the narcotic raid at Campal, 27-year-old Yuraj Karde, resident of Betim, was caught red-handed in illegal possession of suspected ganja weighing 1kg, worth Rs 1 lakh in the international market,' SP North Rahul Gupta said. 'The contraband was seized, and further investigation is under way,' Gupta said. 'In the Mandrem case, 33-year-old Kerala native Afsal Puthiyaveettil was arrested. During interrogation, Puthiyaveettil disclosed that he purchased the contraband from Shabeel K V of Kannur, Kerala,' he said. Gupta said that call logs revealed regular communication and monetary transactions between Afsal and Shabeel, indicating Shabeel's role in the drug trafficking. Shabeel was arrested in Frazer Town, Bangalore, and brought to the police station after due legal procedures, he said.

ICICI Bank RM allegedly swindles ₹4.58 crore from customer accounts in Kota, loses most of it in stocks

A relationship manager in an ICICI bank branch in Kota allegedly swindled around ₹4.58 crore from customers' accounts only to lose the lot of it in the stock market, police on Friday (June 7, 2025) said. She was arrested last week and is currently under judicial custody, they said. The accused, Sakshi Gupta, was posted as a relationship manager at ICICI Bank's DCM branch. Police said she had been pilfering from more than 110 accounts belonging to 41 customers for around two and a half years. She allegedly invested these amounts in the stock market and lost a large chunk of it, they said. Branch manager Tarun Dadich filed a complaint against her at the Udhyog Nagar Police Station on February 18, accusing her of siphoning ₹4.58 crore from customer accounts. Based on the complaint, Ms. Gupta, who worked at the branch from 2020 to 2023, was arrested on May 31. During the investigation, it was revealed that she changed the mobile numbers linked with several accounts to her relatives' numbers, ensuring that transaction alerts and OTPs were not received by the real account holders. Sub Inspector Ibrahim said Ms. Gupta systematically transferred funds to different accounts, in some cases using an elderly woman's account, who was unaware of the activity, as a "pool account." By February 15, 2023, she had transferred more than Rs 3 crore to this account alone, he said. He alleged that Ms. Gupta misused debit cards, PINs, and OTPs for these transactions, and even activated overdraft facilities on 40 accounts without consent. She prematurely closed fixed deposits of 31 customers' accounts, funnelling over ₹1.34 crore. She also took out a personal loan of ₹3.40 lakh. Police said that many transactions were conducted using Insta Kiosk installations and various digital banking platforms, with at least four customers' debit cards used for ATM and internet banking. Proceeds from these activities were sent to demat accounts as part of the attempted cover-up. Ms. Gupta was arrested from her parental home in Chittorgarh district's Rawatbhata. She was sent to judicial custody after a one-day remand for interrogation, SI Ibrahim said. Meanwhile, an ICICI Bank spokesperson, in a press note, said, "The interests of our customers are of paramount importance to us. Immediately upon discovering the fraudulent activity, we filed an FIR with the police. "We have a zero-tolerance policy against any fraudulent activity and thus suspended the employee involved. We would like to reassure that genuine claims of impacted customers have been settled."
