Drug Syndicate Using Rented Cars: Married Couple Among Four Arrested
SEPANG, June 20 (Bernama) -- Police have uncovered a tactic using rented cars by a drug trafficking syndicate that has been operating for the past nine years, following the arrest of four individuals in the district last Wednesday.
Sepang police chief ACP Norhizam Bahaman said a married couple and two men, aged between 27 and 39, were arrested in the operation that began at 6 pm.
He said in the operation, police seized various types of drugs, comprising 515 grams of syabu, 14 grams of ketamine, 65 grams of heroin and 300 Eramin 5 pills, valued at RM36,500, as well as two rented cars, believed to be used by the syndicate to carry out drug trafficking activities.

Its director, Lilis Saslinda Pornomo, said the scheme was uncovered during a joint raid with the Putrajaya branch at 8 pm, during which they discovered 1,176 gas cylinders, both empty and filled, estimated to weigh 4,000 kilogrammes (kg) and worth RM200,000. Also found at the premises was a lorry tank. 'The modus operandi of the syndicate is using an old storage facility behind the palm oil collection and weighing centre to transfer subsidised 14kg LPG into a lorry tank using a method known as decanting.

RM1.48mil in drugs, assets seized in Johor apartment raid
JOHOR BARU: Police have dismantled a drug trafficking syndicate that rented two units in the same gated apartment complex, using one as a processing and repackaging centre. The group, led by a 31-year-old man who had only been active for two months, was crippled following four raids in the district last week. Johor Baru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the raids were carried out on June 12 and 13 following a week of surveillance, resulting in the seizure of various drugs worth over RM1.28 million. Besides the mastermind, three other men, a Singaporean man, and a Thai woman aged between 30 and 39 were also arrested. The syndicate operated out of a guarded apartment where drugs were repackaged and stored before being distributed locally. The locations raided included two homestays and an apartment, which the group rented for short stays at around RM300 per day before relocating. They rented two units in the apartment block, one of which was used as a storage facility, while the other served as their residence. Seized drugs included 7.669kg of ecstasy powder, 13.6g of ketamine, and 8g of Eramin 5 pills. Police also confiscated RM3,000 in cash, two cars, and jewellery, bringing the total value of seized items to over RM1.48 million. The syndicate repackaged the drugs into sachets resembling three-in-one beverage packets, which were sold for between RM200 and RM300 each. Urine tests showed all suspects tested positive for methamphetamine. They are being remanded for 12 days until June 24 to assist investigations under Section 39B and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Diver Pleads Not Guilty To 11 Charges Over Obscene Posts On Nurul Izzah
CRIME & COURTS SEPANG, June 20 (Bernama) -- A diver and single father pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to 11 charges of making indecent and excessively obscene comments targeting Nurul Izzah Anwar, the daughter of the Prime Minister, on Facebook earlier this year. The accused, Ruslan Mat Ali, 48, entered the plea after the charges were read before Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman. He is accused of knowingly making and initiating the transmission of indecent and excessively obscene comments with the intent to annoy others, on the Facebook account under his name, Ruslan Mat Ali, allegedly committed between January 21 and February 25. He was charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which provides for a fine not exceeding RM50,000, or imprisonment for up to one year, or both, upon conviction. According to the first charge, the indecent post was accessed on February 4 at approximately 7.00 am at MCMC Tower 1, Jalan Impact, Cyber 6, Cyberjaya. For the second to eleventh charges, the posts were accessed on February 26, between 1.51 pm and 4.30 pm, at the MCMC Centre of Excellence, Jalan Impact, Cyber 6, Cyberjaya. Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) deputy public prosecutor Fadhli Ab Wahab proposed that bail be set at RM15,000 with one surety. However, the accused, who was unrepresented, appealed for a lower amount, citing the absence of a fixed income and the responsibility of supporting his three children. Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman set bail at RM10,000, with case mention fixed for July 18.
