An arrest has been made as police investigate a "significant surge" in graffiti in two Surrey towns.Police said a 19-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage to council property and since bailed as as officers continued their investigation.In recent weeks, there were multiple reports of graffiti in both Woking and Guildford with the tag Wormy, Surrey Police said.The force said it had identified at least 64 separate instances of graffiti across the two towns, "marking a significant surge in property damage".
A Neighbourhood Policing Team for Guildford spokesperson said: "We understand that criminal damage such as graffiti can impact the local community and damage the surroundings."Guildford Borough Council previously appealed for the public's help to "keep our streets clean and safe" and said Crimestoppers was offering a £1,000 reward for information about Wormy.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary have arrested two men, both aged 32, on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody at this time. The force is also appealing for information that could help them locate a gold suitcase which "may assist with the investigation". In a statement, they said: "Detectives in Portsmouth have launched a murder investigation and made two arrests, after the discovery of a woman's body in Portsmouth. "We were called at 7:37am on Thursday 5 June to a report that the body of 32 year-old Samantha Murphy had been located at a house on Wadham Road in Portsmouth. "Her family have been informed and are being supported by officers. "Our investigation is ongoing to establish what happened, the death is currently being treated as suspicious. "As part of our investigation, a 32 year-old man from Petersfield and a 32 year-old man from Havant have been arrested on suspicion of murder. "They remain in police custody at this time. "As part of our enquiries, officers have identified a gold suitcase, which they believe could be in the Portsmouth area. "They are keen to locate this suitcase, as it may assist with the investigation, and ask that anyone with any information please call 101 quoting reference number 44250245282." District Commander, Chief Inspector Fifi Gulam-Husen said, 'We understand that this is a concerning incident for the local community and specialist officers are working as a priority to establish the full circumstances. A man in his 20s has been left with "life-threatening" injuries after a hit-and-run crash, according to Surrey Police. The force said it was investigating the crash, involving a silver Mercedes and the male pedestrian, which happened just before 17:45 BST on Hornbeam Road in Reigate on Thursday. It said the driver left the scene, however officers later found the car. Officers said they were pursuing a "number of active lines" of inquiry. Surrey Police said Hornbeam Road was closed between the junction with Holly Road and Willow Road while officers attended the force urged anyone with information to get in touch.
