HE made crucial saves to deny Celtic skipper Callum McGregor and Alistair Johnston in the Scottish Cup final penalty shoot-out.
But Aberdeen goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov says he always knew they would be on to a winner with spotkicks, as he had no chance coming up against his own team-mates in training the day before the Hampden showpiece.

The Dons famously upset the odds to end their 35-year wait for Scottish Cup glory and deny Celtic a historic treble on Saturday.
With the sides level at 1-1 following 120 minutes of action, it came down to a nerve shredding shoot-out and the Bulgarian always felt they could come out on top.
Mitov saved the first penalty from Callum McGregor which he believed set the tone.
But he was full of praise for the men in red who dispatched four perfect penalties.
Graeme Shinnie, Dante Polvara, Oday Dabbagh and Ante Palaversa all slotted past Kasper Schmeichel with aplomb.
On the Dons' penalties, he told Talksport: "They were incredible.
"We practised the day before and I could not get near them. Every penalty was hit with pace and it was in the top corner.
"I was saying to them even if the keeper goes the right way - he's not saving them because it is of that good a quality.
"Listen, I'm over the moon for them. I can only imagine the pressure they were feeling in the legs going to take that penalty, so it was amazing they managed to score. "
Aberdeen made a brilliant start to the season winning 10 of their first 11 league games, but they drastically fell away to a disappointing fifth place finish.
Aberdeen fans react to historic Scottish Cup win
Other teams around them like Hearts are set to strengthen in the summer, with Brighton owner Tony Bloom set to take up a 29 per cent in stake the club for an investment of around £10 million.
The American takeover at Rangers is also nearing completion with a major rebuild at Ibrox expected once that is through and a new manager is found.
Mitov added: "Like every other season, every team is looking to improve.
"Every team is looking to build towards something and compete for the highest positions in the league, and it is no different at Aberdeen.
"Aberdeen is a big club, we should be competing at the high end.
"It's going to be an exciting summer and an exciting next season. so we're all looking forward to it."

James Bord reveals timeframe for Dunfermline Athletic's Premiership return and bold spending plans
Owner James Bord has set Dunfermline Athletic the target of winning promotion to the Premiership within the next two years. The timescale fits neatly with the new contract the Pars agreed last week with manager Neil Lennon, who Bord insists can 'steer the ship back in the right direction'. Bord and business partner Evan Sofer took control of the East End Park club earlier this year and are determined to use their data analytics and artificial intelligence background to bring success to the Fifers. And they have promised to push the boat out financially in search of a way back to the top-flight that Dunfermline last graced 13 years ago. 'I wouldn't say it was soulless, but it was lost as a club,' Bord says of Dunfermline in an interview with The Athletic. 'A big personality can steer the ship back in the right direction. Neil's presence at the club makes everyone's day around the place. 'Neil's front-foot playing style suits my philosophy, and hopefully we have him now for another two years. 'In terms of spending, there's a calculation: How long you stay in the Championship, and what you lose in cash-burn, against promotion? 'We have concluded that we're happy to spend a little bit more money to give ourselves a better chance of going up as quickly as possible. 'We'd hope to be in the Premiership within two years. 'But, as long as I can see development in the playing style and in the playing squad, I think that (promotion) comes naturally. With a bit of luck, of course.' Bord made money as a professional poker player and may be comfortable with the theory of speculating to accumulate. However, it is through his work with his United States-based Short Circuit venture, which he launched in 2016 and now employs 350 people, that the Londoner hopes to help Dunfermline prosper. A background working for Brighton owner Tony Bloom, who has also been cleared to invest in Hearts, and Brentford owner Matthew Benham sparked Bord's interest in bringing the field of data analytics to football. 'I bought Dunfermline because I love the underdog,' said Bord, who also owns stakes in Bulgarian second-tier outfit Septemvri Sofia and Cordoba in Spain's La Liga 2. 'The ambition is to bring back some of their history, but also to change the atmosphere at the club. 'Optimism. They are a very passionate fanbase that has suffered enough pain, and we'd like to bring them some joy.' In a rare interview, he added: 'We were looking for an outlet to develop young players. We have three clubs and we don't want to bite off more than we can chew. 'A step-by-step approach is much healthier, as creating stress hurts performance. We are focusing on Dunfermline.'

Where do Hibs need to strengthen this summer?
Hibernian made 11 signings before the start of last season but preparations for the next campaign should be quieter after David Gray survived a turbulent start to his managerial career to deliver an impressive third-place lost just four of their past 28 games - three of those to champions Celtic - continuity and momentum are sure to be the watchwords, along with of Ireland midfielder Jamie McGrath has already been recruited from Aberdeen, while conversations continue with out-of-contract pair Junior Hoilett and Rocky the departing loan contingent, Hibs would welcome back Nectarios Triantis and Mykola Kuharevich for third spells at Easter Road.A summer bid for Triantis is a sure thing. The 22-year-old Australian is under contract at Sunderland until 2027 and may not be part of their plans in the Premier League, but his composed performances will not have gone unnoticed by Dwight Gayle hanging up his boots and uncertainty over the futures of Kuharevich and Hoilett, competition is required for Martin Boyle and Kieron Bowie in Youan and Dylan Vente remain on the books but for how much longer? Both are entering the final 12 months of their deals and there may be plans to sell to fund new faces. The latter scored 13 goals on loan at PEC Zwolle in his native defence, Bushiri has been a revelation as a warrior at the heart of a back three and his powerful displays will make it hard to keep the DR Congo international. If the 25-year-old moves on, Hibs have the experienced Marvin Ekpiteta waiting in the wings, although Gray might want to add to his centre-half Smith confounded expectation when promoted to the starting XI, having been a back-up goalkeeper for the best part of his career. At least one more goalie will be required though as Josef Bursik and Max Boruc are well served in central midfield if captain Joe Newell can get over his groin problems since Dylan Levitt improved immensely in the second half of the season, which meant January signing Alasana Manneh had to be if there is a Triantis-shaped hole in the squad, a top drawer replacement could be the top priority at Easter fans, what is your take on the business the club must do? Is there an area of the squad that needs improving? Or maybe holding on to Bushiri and trying to bring Triantis back are the priorities? And what about sales - who needs to go?Share your views

The Ibrox club have been on the hunt for a permanent boss since the end of February, with ex club captain Barry Ferguson overseeing the final three months of the campaign after Philippe Clement was shown the door. That search has only been ramped up in recent days following Friday's confirmation that the 49ers Enterprises group lead by Andrew Cavenagh have completed their takeover of the club. Martin, 39, and former Real Madrid number two Davide Ancelotti have been seen as the leading contenders for the vacancy and have both helds talks with Ibrox chiefs, who have also been joined by new sporting director Kevin Thelwell and technical director Dan Purdy following their arrivals from Everton. But Fabrizio Romano claims that Martin - who spent a brief loan spell at Rangers in 2018 during his playing career - is poised to be announced as the new Light Blues boss. Martin has been out of work since getting the sack at Premier League club Southampton last December - but months after leading them back to England's top tier via the Championship play-offs. The former Scotland international previously enjoyed a decent two year stint in charge of Swansea City, where his eye-catching brand of football won him a move to St Mary's. Should he land the job, then Martin will need to hit the ground running with the new season just around the corner. The Rangers squad are set to report back to Auchenhowie for pre-season later this month ahead of their qualifying campaign to reach the revamped group stage of the Champions League.
