EXCLUSIVE Big Brother star David Graham used a vile homophobic slur before assaulting a young man on his farm
A Big Brother contestant who famously came out as gay on national television called a young man who was staying at his farm a 'f***ot' before assaulting him one night.
David Graham, known as 'Farmer Dave' to his fans, previously gave Daily Mail Australia his version of events leading up to the assault but didn't mention using homophobic slurs.
The 45-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of common assault last Friday, when he was convicted and sentenced to a nine-month conditional release order.
Graham had originally faced further charges of choking, intimidation and damaging property when he appeared at Windsor Local Court, in Sydney 's north-west, but those matters were withdrawn.
A statement of facts tendered in court listed Graham's occupation as 'presenter/farmer/youth worker' but revealed his only source of income was $1,500 a week in worker's compensation.
Those payments were due to post-traumatic stress disorder and went towards rent as well as raising five children and caring for seven dogs.
Graham's victim, whom Daily Mail Australia has chosen not to name, was staying at his farm at Glossodia in the Hawkesbury region but moved out after the attack.
The victim had been living with Graham for four months but the pair had known each other 'for an extensive period of time', according to the statement of facts.
Graham told Daily Mail Australia on Monday night that he had allowed the young man to live on his farm because he 'had nowhere else to stay'.
The reality television star said he met the young man through his work assisting troubled youth to train dogs and learn trades.
Graham also claimed the victim 'hosted drinking parties' at his farm while he was away in Queensland visiting his terminally ill mother.
'I counselled him that he must find alternative accommodation,' he told Daily Mail Australia.
Graham also claimed the young man had not fed his animals while he was away and he found one of his dogs in almost skeletal condition.
The statement of facts tendered in court made no mention of alcohol, the deteriorating health of Graham's mother or emaciated dogs.
According to the court document, Graham had asked the victim to charge the security cameras at his property on January 27.
Graham did not believe the man had done what he was told 'and began berating the victim, yelling abuse at him, calling him a 'f***ing c***' and a 'f***ot'.'
The argument 'got heated' at about 4.30pm and the victim ran to his car, attempting to leave the property.
'On doing this the accused followed him to the vehicle,' the statement of facts said.
'The accused grabbed the car door handle attempting to open it and hit the car window.
'This caused the victim to become scared for his welfare, fearing he was going to be assaulted and drove off from the location.'
The victim returned to the farm about 8.30pm with a male friend to collect his belongings.
While the victim was gathering up his possessions, Graham became abusive towards his friend who was standing beside a truck.
The victim recorded Graham calling him and and his friend 'f***ing c***s' and 'f***king f***ots'.
The victim told Graham 'Don't push him' in an effort to protect his friend, then when Graham pushed the victim he said, 'Don't touch me.'
Shortly afterwards, the victim was in his bedroom when he heard a loud bang, according to the statement of facts.
He then saw Graham drop his cupboard, causing a drawer to fall out and a wheel to break off.
Graham said to the victim, 'Stop with the smart a*** response' and the victim replied, 'I'm not being a smart a***'.
The next morning, police attended Graham's farm, where he was arrested.
Asked if he had grabbed the victim the previous night, Graham said: 'To get him out of the house, 100 per cent.'
Asked again about committing the assault, Graham said: 'To push him out of the house, yes.'
Back at Windsor Police Station Graham became 'physically distressed' during an electronically recorded interview in which he described the assault.
'The accused stated that he felt intimidated as there were knives left lying around the house,' the statement of facts said.
'However, the accused continued to escalate the situation by yelling at the victim and entering the victim's bedroom.
'The accused made admissions to assaulting the victim while trying to physically remove the victim from the residence.'
When Graham spoke to Daily Mail Australia he admitted he had done the 'wrong thing' but said he planned to appeal the severity of his sentence.
Graham said that after returning from Queensland he had asked the victim to leave his home, which he did, before returning with his friend later that night.
He said he pushed the victim with two open palms after the pair had refused to leave the premises.
'I was shocked and as I'm in recovery from PTSD after five years working in a high- stress work environment,' he said.
'At the time I had no way of knowing how many men were in the dark... both men were well over six foot, I was alone on my rural property and needed to assert myself and I did so.
'I accept that pushing a human is assault.'
Graham said he would 'no longer give assistance to the homeless' and he had learned that 'no good deed goes unpunished'.
'This is the universe telling me I must learn to set clear boundaries and not take on other people's problems and focus on my own recovery,' he said.
Graham famously came out as gay to his housemates on national television during the sixth season of Big Brother in 2006 when he finished third in the competition.
In 2022, he returned for the show's 14th season and finished 13th out of 22 contestants.
The reality show fan favourite started the charity RuffTrack in 2019, with the aim of connecting at-risk young people with dogs to help foster responsibility and trust.
He told Daily Mail Australia last December he had walked away from that initiative after becoming burnt out.
Graham is now the subject of a two-year apprehended violence order protecting the man he assaulted.

Less than a week after the San Antonio Police Department insisted there was 'no evidence whatsoever' of homophobia in the June 1 shooting death of former King of the Hill actor Jonathan Joss, the city's top cop walked back that claim as 'way, way, way premature.' 'We shouldn't have done it,' SAPD Chief William McManus said at a Thursday press conference. 'It was way too soon, before we had any real information, and I will own that.' 'We understand that many in the LGBTQ+ community are feeling anxious and concerned,' McManus added. 'A lot of it has to do with that premature statement that we released, and again, I own that shouldn't have done it. The loss of Jonathan Joss was tragic and most, most heavily felt by the LGBTQ+ community.' Last Sunday, as Joss, 59, and husband Tristan Kern de Gonzales drove to San Antonio from Austin, where they had recently been living, to check the mail at what remains of their home, which burned down in January. (Kern de Gonzalez said he is certain the blaze was arson. Authorities, on the other hand, have said the cause remains undetermined.) When they got there, the pair was shocked to find the charred skull of one of their three dogs, which had perished in the blaze, placed on the ground 'in clear view,' according to Kern de Gonzales. The two began crying and screaming, leading to the deadly confrontation with neighbor Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, he said. In announcing Joss' death on social media, Kern de Gonzales, 23, said there was no doubt the deadly attack was a hate crime. He could still hear me, he looked up at me and he wasn't able to talk because of the extent [of his injuries], but I could tell he was trying to say, 'I love you.'' PHEOBE Bishop mysteriously vanished over three weeks ago in a gripping disappearance case which puzzled the world. The shocking story has been plagued by grim twists and heartbreaking pleas after the 17-year-old teenager went missing near an airport on May 15. 16 16 16 16 Before she disappeared, Pheobe had been living in the town of Gin Gin, which is north of Brisbane in Australia. The sleepy neighbourhood has a population of about 1,100 people. The teenager had been living in a derelict pad - which had a foul smell and was very noisy according to neighbours. She lived there with two housemates: James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33. On the day she went missing, Pheobe was meant to board a flight to see her boyfriend in Western Australia. Her housemates drove her to Bundaberg airport, but police said CCTV there never even saw her enter the terminal and she never actually checked in. She was on her way to Perth to visit her "high-school sweetheart" boyfriend. Pheobe reportedly made a last minute call to him at 8:30am mere moments before she was set to get on the flight to Western Australia. A family member said: "She didn't check in for her flight to visit her boyfriend who she spoke to on the phone at 8.30am." According to the Daily Mail, Wood said the couple had an explosive argument in the car with Pheobe over whether she could do her makeup before arriving at the airport. He said they pulled over just under a kilometre from their destination. Wood and Bromley then allegedly walked off and were away from Pheobe and the car for five minutes, according to the 34-year-old. A missing person's report was issued for her one day later on May 16. Her worried sick sister, Kaylea Bishop, sent Wood and Bromley a simple text, demanding to know the whereabouts of her sibling. She said: "Where is my sister?" On the following weekend, her desperate mum Kylie Johnson made emotional pleas for anyone with information to come forward. By May 18, over 400 missing person posters with Pheobe's photo had been plastered across the Wide Bay region. The next week, on Monday May 19, police launched their search for Pheobe. It covered land along Bundaberg's Airport Drive and the surrounding areas. 16 16 16 16 But mysteriously, police didn't find any sign of the teen or her belongings. Police, along with Pheobe's mum, described her disappearance as out of character on May 20. They also asked the public for information about the 2011 grey Hyundai ix35 hatch, owned by Bromley, that had been seen around Airport Drive at the time of Pheoebe's disappearance. The next day, police updated the case and said they were treating Pheobe's disappearance as a suspicious. They also declared two crime scenes - one being the run-down home she was living at, and the other being the infamous Hyundai she was driven to the airport in. After inspecting the foul-smelling home, police found four dead dogs rotting inside. But it was later understood that these four pups died of natural causes. Airport Drive, Samuels Road and Gin Gin were also named as locations of interest. On May 22, Detective Acting Inspector Ryan Thompson stressed the importance of public information. In a chilling plea, he said: "People don't vanish." 16 16 16 The day after that, police revealed they were searching through bushland and waterways at Good Night Scrub National Park, near to where Pheobe was last seen. This scan went on for the next two days, during which police dogs joined the hunt. On May 25 Bromley was arrested in a major twist after police allegedly found weapons in her silver Hyundai. On May 26, the search area was expanded - before cops made a harrowing revelation. They believed evidence had been moved from the Good Night Scrub area before they arrived there. And on this same day, a new number plate was discovered to have been suspiciously painted and taped over the notorious Hyundai's original plate. The gruelling search effort in Good Night Scrub National Park then continued from May 27 for five more days. Disturbingly, the search appeared to lose hope as police said they would no longer be doing any more physical scans for Pheobe on Wednesday, June 4. They said they would restart any searches only when they had relevant information. But in a dramatic twist on the very same day - Pheobe's housemate Wood was arrested. 16 However, no charges were made and he was released a day later on June 5. And in yet another turn in the tale - Wood and Bromley were then both arrested and charged with murder on the same day Wood was released - exactly three weeks after Pheobe went missing. They were each charged with one count of murder and two counts of interfering with a corpse. Shocking footage released on Friday showed the moment police arrested Wood and escorted him out of an RV for the "homicide of Pheobe Bishop". Both Wood and Bromley appeared at Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday morning. Outside the building, Pheobe's heartbroken sister Kaylea Bishop said her sibling was 'loved and missed' dearly. Kaylea and Pheobe had a close relationship and were planning to move in together last year. And in the latest heartbreaking update, human remains were found during a search for Pheobe. They are yet to be identified, but police have spoken to Pheobe's family regarding the harrowing discovery. The body was found close to Good Night Scrub National Park, near Gin Gin, on Friday, June 6 at around 2:30pm. 16 Pheobe's mum then made a heartbreaking statement. She said: "I didn't think my heart could break anymore than it did when you went missing, or when the charges were laid but this. "This is ripping me apart." Pheobe had previously said online that she wasn't living with her mum, and that she had been "in and out" of home for years. Cops are now set to allege that Wood, Bromley and Pheobe were all in the car when it arrived at Airport Drive near Bundaberg Airport in the morning of May 15. They believe that the trio never actually left the car. Detective Inspector Craig Mansfield said: "Our evidence will outline the fact that three people arrived near to the airport, and three people never exited that vehicle." Wood and Bromley will appear in court on August 11.
