
Tropical situation in Arabian Sea: Read to know the impact on Oman's coasts
Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has released its latest weekly bulletin, monitoring meteorological activity in the Arabian Sea for the period between May 8 and May 14, 2025.
The bulletin, published by the National Early Warning Center for Multiple Hazards, provides an assessment of tidal activity and cloud formations expected in the region. According to the report, no significant tropical cyclone activity is anticipated during the specified timeframe, and Oman's coastal areas will remain unaffected.
The CAA emphasised that this bulletin is part of its regular monitoring efforts during the annual cyclone season in the Arabian Sea. The authority assured that additional updates will be issued immediately should there be any significant meteorological developments.

Oman Authorities recover missing fisherman's body in Taqah
Muscat: Rescue teams from the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority have located the body of the missing citizen along Khor Rori Beach in the Wilayat of Taqah, Dhofar Governorate. The man had gone fishing with his brother last Tuesday when their boat was overturned by high waves. While his brother managed to swim to safety and was taken to Taqah Hospital for medical treatment, the missing individual could not be located until today. Weather: Thunderstorms expected in parts of Oman
Muscat: Thunderstorms of varying intensity ranging between 10-25 mm are expected over parts of the Sultanate of Oman on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, said Oman Meteorology. According to Oman Meteorology, there are chances of cumulus cloud activity and occasional thunderstorms on the Al Hajar Mountains and the surrounding areas of South Al Sharqiyah , North Al Sharqiyah, Muscat and Al Dakhiliyah Governorates during the afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms may be accompanied by active winds ranging between 20-45, causing valleys and ravines to flow, hail , and poor visibility.

Summary: Midday breaks announced for workers in Oman
Muscat: Workers are prohibited from working at construction sites or open areas with high temperatures during the midday hours, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., during the months of June, July, and August. The Ministry of Labour (Mol), said, "A Safe Summer campaign to raise awareness of heat stress and the need to adhere to the midday work stoppage, in accordance with Article (16), Clause (2) of the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, which states the following: Workers are prohibited from working at construction sites or open areas with high temperatures during the midday hours from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the months of June, July, and August." The Ministry calls on all private sector establishments to cooperate and comply with this measure, which is part of efforts to promote a safe work environment and reduce heat-related injuries.
