Rick Spielman is back in the game.
Spielman is joining the Jets front office as a senior football advisor, he announced on the CBS Sports First Pick podcast with Ryan Wilson.
Spielman, 62, was with the Vikings from 2006-2021, first serving as the club's vice president of player personnel before taking over as General Manager in 2012.
He consulted with the Jets on their head coaching and G.M. search, helping the club hire Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey.
Spielman has also worked for the Lions, Bears, and Dolphins in his long NFL career.

What better way to get that help than by going out and signing Alexander now that he is a free agent? That is exactly what Kay Adams suggested to Alexander in a segment on the "Up & Adams" show. "Go to the Vikings. They need a corner!" she said. Pro Football Focus analyst Trevor Sikkema also named Minnesota as one of the top potential landing spots for Alexander ahead of the 2025 season. Alexander is still one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. Unfortunately, injuries have held him back in a big way over the last couple of years. He has played in just seven games in each of the last two seasons. Last year, Alexander recorded 16 tackles, a fumble recovery, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and seven defended passes. He's still more than capable of making a huge impact. He would be out to prove himself after being released by Green Bay and would have extra motivation to prove his old team wrong for giving up on him. As for the Packers, this would be a nightmare scenario. They know just how good Alexander is capable of being. Him landing with Minnesota would make a tough situation much worse. Expect to hear a lot of rumors and speculation about Alexander in the coming hours and days. He's a star hitting the market just before the season. Plenty of teams are going to come calling with interest, and it would not be surprising to see the Vikings be one of those teams. Tennessee football hiring former Vol as defensive analyst in 2025 Tennessee will kick off its 2025 football season Aug. 30 against Syracuse at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The season opener between the Vols and Orange is slated for noon EDT and will be televised by ABC. Ahead of the upcoming campaign, Tennessee hired former Vol Marion Hobby as a defensive analyst, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports. "Tennessee is adding Marion Hobby to its defensive staff, a source tells CBS Sports," Zenitz said. "Hobby, a former All-SEC player at Tennessee, has coached in four NFL conference championship games (Saints, Jaguars, Bengals 2x) and a Super Bowl. Hobby was also part of Clemson's 2016 national championship team." Hobby played on Tennessee's defensive line under head coach Johnny Majors. He was selected in the third round of the 1990 NFL draft by Minnesota. The Vikings traded him to New England. The former Vol played for the Patriots from 1990-92 before launching his coaching career. Hobby served as the Vols' assistant strength and conditioning coach during Tennessee's 1998 national championship season.
