Usyk has experience in grappling as a youngster but has no training in MMA - despite challenging the American to a fight in the cage.
Sergey Lapin, a member of Usyk's camp, told Norske Bettingsider: "The Jake Paul fight is a great show.
"Imagine the announcement - an undisputed boxing champion stepping into the cage to fight under MMA rules against a guy who's beaten several MMA fighters in the boxing ring.
"That would be something fans would love to see.We would need to completely restructure our training camp - bring in wrestling and kickboxing experts to master the techniques needed for the cage.

JAKE EXPECTATIONS Jake Paul reveals talks to face Usyk after teasing shock world title shot
"But we saw the reaction from Jake Paul's team - they're into the idea. Usyk said, 'Why not? It's cool - I love challenges.'
"He even mentioned he used to wrestle and take part in hand-to-hand combat as a kid. It would be a great fight in the cage.
"But right now, our main focus is the undisputed fight on July 19 in London. After that, we'll revisit discussions with Jake Paul's team."
Usyk, 38, returns at Wembley Stadium to rematch Daniel Dubois, 27, who he beat in 2023.

And it will be for the undisputed heavyweight titles following the Ukrainian's two points wins over Tyson Fury, 36, last year.
Usyk has warned he has just two fights left and has called out UFC star Alex Pereira, 37, in the past.
Moses Itauma, 20, lined up for sensational world title fight against Oleksandr Usyk this year
Paul, 28, meanwhile faces former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, 39, in his next bout on June 28 in California.
It comes off the back of his points win in November against Mike Tyson, who controversially made a comeback aged 58.
Paul is also signed to the Professional Fighters League and eyes an MMA debut next year with Usyk among his options.
He said: "That's something I'm super, super interested in and I think it would be a very, very big spectacle.
"Nate Diaz is still ducking but we need to find the right opponent, Usyk maybe."
Paul's promotional partner Nakisa Bidarian added: "Usyk has called out Jake multiple times in MMA.
"They've been in touch with us behind the scenes saying they want to do that in 2026. So something we definitely want to pursue."
Bidarian added that the PFL have shown interest in promoting the crossover fight.

Stressfree victory proves enjoyable for O'Meara
Stressfree got up late under Danny Tudhope (Martin Rickett/PA) This article is brought to you by our exclusive subscriber partnership with our sister title USA Today, and has been written by our American colleagues. It does not necessarily reflect the view of The Herald. Stressfree set up a trip to Royal Ascot in finally getting his head in front in the Betfred 'Play Fred's £5 Million' Handicap at Haydock. David O'Meara's five-year-old only had three victories to his name on the Flat before this, which does not reflect the level of his ability, and looked to have a mountain to climb as Kildare Legend kicked clear off the front. But Danny Tudhope timed it to perfection on the 11-2 shot to win by a neck and the Duke of Edinburgh Handicap now beckons. O'Meara said: 'He wasn't winning out of turn, he's been very consistent. He's got a lot of ability, but he's often the bridesmaid. We sent him hurdling through the winter, more to toughen him up than anything. 'He was given an excellent ride. I'm never confident with him as he's often come out second best, but to be fair he did nothing wrong today. 'He could go for the mile-and-a-half handicap at Ascot and possibly the Ebor later, why not, he might stay that far, he keeps a little bit back.'

Oscar Piastri leads the way in Barcelona ahead of qualifying
Oscar Piastri was out in front in Spain (Joan Monfort/AP) This article is brought to you by our exclusive subscriber partnership with our sister title USA Today, and has been written by our American colleagues. It does not necessarily reflect the view of The Herald. Oscar Piastri laid down an ominous marker to McLaren team-mate Lando Norris after he finished half-a-second clear of the British driver in final practice for the Spanish Grand Prix. Piastri, who leads Norris by three points in the world championship, set the fastest time in practice at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya on Friday. And the Australian led the way again on Saturday, ending the one-hour running 0.526 seconds ahead of Norris, who made a mistake on his hot lap, in the other McLaren. McLaren have won six of the eight rounds so far, and their rivals might have hoped that a clampdown on flexible front wings – which some believe has contributed to the British team's rise – would slow them down. Final practice ✅ It's a McLaren 1-2 to kick-off Saturday… now onto qualifying! 💨#F1 #SpanishGP — Formula 1 (@F1) May 31, 2025 However, the evidence of the rule tweak introduced for this race appears to have done little to influence McLaren's speed. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc finished 0.743 sec behind Piastri in third, one place ahead of Mercedes' George Russell, with world champion Max Verstappen fifth – albeit the best part of one second behind. Lewis Hamilton's struggles continued after he finished ninth, 1.1 sec off the pace. Qualifying gets under way at 16:00 local time (15:00 BST).

Rangers to change name of owning company after American takeover as US consortium plan MAJOR behind the scenes shift
The new owners are getting to work straight away after taking control of the club earlier this week NAME GAME Rangers to change name of owning company after American takeover as US consortium plan MAJOR behind the scenes shift THE parent company of Rangers is planning to undergo a significant name change following the club's recent takeover. The Light Blues are looking to go from a public company to a private one. Advertisement 2 It was announced on Friday that Rangers' takeover deal had went through Credit: Willie Vass 2 And the new board now have some big plans in regard to the club's name Credit: The Sun The proposed change is subject to approval from shareholders at an upcoming meeting later this month. Since November 2012, the Ibrox-based club has operated under the name 'The Rangers International Football Club PLC'. However, under the new leadership of chairman Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises, spearheaded by vice chairman Paraag Marathe, the company intends to adopt the name 'Rangers International Football Club Limited'. This proposed shift symbolises a new era for the club and its corporate structure, music to the ears of Gers fans. Advertisement The issue will be decided at the club's Extraordnary General Meeting (EGM), which is set to take place on 23 June at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel in Glasgow. This pivotal meeting will allow shareholders to deliberate and vote on the proposed changes. If approved, the move to a private company is expected to bring a fresh direction to the club, strengthening its foundations under the new ownership. This comes after the takeover was announced earlier this week, with £20million of fresh capital invested into Rangers. Advertisement Football finance expert Kieran Maguire spoke to SunSport when the confirmation of the takeover broke. He said: "FFP is less of an issue than the club losing money and they need to address that first. Rangers fans react as 49ers takeover completed "They have some big hitters and experienced people joining [the board] though." The new owners come into the Ibrox club with plenty of football and business experience. Advertisement New members of the Rangers board, including chairman Cavenagh, are successful businessmen from across the pond, with new vice-chair Marathe presiding over 49ers enterprises. He is also the chairman at Leeds United, but despite being under the same ownership structure, the Gers and the Whites are operating as two separate entities. The first action of the new board will be to appoint a new head coach, with the permanent position still vacant after Philippe Clement's departure in February.
